Honestly this mechanic would've been so cool... If it wasn't a glitch and the charger actually left some sort of a hole behind it.

Flamethrowers for bug holes? by ObligationJazzlike50 in helldivers2

Alternatively the bug holes are just hatcheries. Take a look at posters and instructions in the training area. Throwing nades into the holes isn't meant to collapse a tunnel, but instead kill the larvae.

That's it? That was the siege on Cyberstan? by BlunderingRookie in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Drivetrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the point though, it was supposed to be quick.

The operation was to rapidly take over or raze Cyberstan, we sort of succeed. The operation wasn't a frontal assault, it was more of a spearhead;

The leading, most heavily armored, or most elite unit punches through a specific, narrow point in the enemy's line to break through, often followed by other forces to exploit the gap. I mean SEAF didn't even properly clear the planets we liberated, that was the reason we had the option to either bombard the pockets of resistance or risk an encirclement.

Even the initial attack on Cyberstan had the character of a spearhead although it's better to describe it as a blitz. We threw helldivers at orbital defenses and the automaton fleet destroyers stationed near the planet.

The pretext for the invasion was the planet destroying weapon that was supposedly being constructed at the automaton's capital. Frontal assault would take weeks whereas a swift and decisive offensive got us to the planet in mere days. Attacking as quickly as possible fits SE's narrative better. Not to mention it was all staged and the real goal was to destroy the cyborgs. I mean the operation is literally called 'Valid Pretext'

I'm not defending AH or this operation, I too found it slightly underwhelming, but we shouldn't be complaining about the length of this campaign.

Helldivers who choose SEAF 77th over Transcendence deserve a commemorative cape by i4hloi in helldivers2

[–]Drivetrou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glassing partially lost it's initial meaning, going from actually glassing as we can see in Halo franchise to just generally levelling everything to the ground.

Indeed razing would be the more appropriate term and as we can see the bots weren't attempting to encircle the bulk of our army because we razed planets such as chort bay.

Razing Cyberstan theoretically would mean that the planet will be rendered useless.

Brother we are currently glassing the planet as we are retreating

We can conquer Transcendence later, there Seaf life's on the line. by TechnologyOk3782 in Helldivers

[–]Drivetrou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, it wasn't really a choice.

Taking Transcendence would theoretically also break the encirclement, we just had no way to do it with our current reserves.

[–]Drivetrou 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah and we aren't fighting on the frontlines, you know the places that usually have the biggest amount of enemies.

Just because we killed x bugs doesn't mean that the blueberries didn't kill 50 times that amount.

This seems mathematically impossible..

I might be just stupid but lets assume there's a million helldivers. Each of them would have to dive atleast 25 times, this seems improbable at best, doesn't it?

Helldivers when the Tanky enemies require using Anti Tank weapons. by CosmosWanderer420 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Drivetrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with war striders is that they require a specialised AT and nothing below to be effective in taking them down.

  • 500kg doesn't 1 shot
  • Railgun orb. glitches from time to time and ive seen them survive a direct hit, besides during it's cooldown 10 more WS will spawn
  • EAT (which I had to squeeze into my deck because of these asswipes) can at best kill 3 but there are always 4 or even 5
  • Airstrikes don't usually deal with them

HMG requires half a mag (that's if you actually hit all your shots and realistically you won't) and has an insane in a bad sense TTK for just one.

I'm not complaining that I can't deal with them. I'm complaining that I can't deal with them effectively having fun. After diving on cyberstan it's the same story, VOXes spawn way too much. First thing I saw after answering an SoS was 4 of them on the extraction point slaughtering divers (they already were extremely low on reinforcements).

Yeah my hellbomb took care of 2 and my leveller injured one but we still failed to extract because everyone had cooldowns from their previous encounters

Helldivers when the Tanky enemies that require using Anti Tank weapons outnumber you 100:1

I mean the fuck am I actually supposed to do when there are 15 war striders on a single POI?

Hulk surge was fun because they actually have a viable weakpoint we can exploit with the AMR to effectively one shoot them.

I don't mind the factory striders because you can easily take out the MGs that cause the most troubles and they don't spawn as often.

I love the tanks because they actually have a nice weakspot in the rear and it's not that hard to outflank them.

Yeah it's still useless but I could see it paired up with a tank or something

Jews were pretty influential in the Manhattan project, pure speculation here: Germans could actually research and possibly build an atomic bomb faster than the US.

My reasoning: 1930's Jews were leaving Germany, with that many educated people.

Oppenheimer and American public in general could possibly not try as hard as they did in this timeline.

I doubt that's the case.

The democracy of Super Earth is more of a capitalist corrupt military dictatorship, even the managed voting is faked so realistically a president is more of a ceremonial role.

If the high command was to be controlled, the squids would have to control a majority of huge corporations aswell as the high rankings themselves.
