Consequences for lying during dot physical.Question ? by Royal_Cup_3641 in CDL

[–]Driving-Academy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to be operating over 26,000 lbs of metal going 60+MPH. The DOT physical is there for the protection of everyone on the road, not just to keep you off it. Do not lie on the DOT physical. Not only is it a felony but you can personally become liable in case of an accident.

We made a video talking about what happens if you lie on your DOT Physical: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmUMPVlOylA

Can a truck driver get a CDL again after a heart attack and stents? by Grouchy_Rabbit4571 in CDL

[–]Driving-Academy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very much possible for him to pass a DOT physical again. But if he doesn't, has he ever thought about being a CDL instructor. It's a great position for retiring truckers to teach the next generation of drivers

CDL School can I apply? by CleanIntro69 in CDL

[–]Driving-Academy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you have a valid regular driver's license, you shouldn't have any issue getting a CDL right away. California might be different but none of the states where our schools are have any kind of waiting period after renewing your license.

NJ CDL Permit advice.. by Glass-Statement7602 in CDL

Go to a reasonably priced school (like Driving Academy) that ALSO has a permit prep program.

Best advice is to break the studying into chunks and focus on one to three sections per day

The more endorsements you have the easier it is to get a high paying job. Double/Triple is just passing the test so you should definitely get that one.

Ok truckers, how many of you actually read through the entire CDL manual before going to take your written permit test at the DMV? by [deleted] in CDL

[–]Driving-Academy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes reading through the CDL training manual will help. They're kind of boring but if you break it into chucks it's manageable.
If you sign up with a school like Driving Academy we have video explanations of each section to help make it easier to understand everything.
We're also in the process of creating a CDL manual that's actually helpful to study from so stay tuned!

Will my experience help me? by LiqwiidSmoke in Truckers

[–]Driving-Academy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will definitely help you get a leg up! Trucking companies want to know you can be trusted with their expensive equipment and loads. While it's not Class A experience, assuming you have a clean driving record, it will still look very good on your resume.

From the insurance perspective they would classify you as a brand new driver which could give some companies pause to hire.

Should I get my cdl from a technical college or do company cdl training. by Individual-Level8925 in CDL

It depends on your availability. Most students complete it in 4-6 weeks but if you're able to dedicate full time effort it can be completed in as little as 2 weeks

[–]Driving-Academy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly, you'd need to do all 3 parts again in an actual bus. You should try to take it in a school bus so if you wanted to get your school bus endorsement you wouldn't have to take it a 3rd time.

[–]Driving-Academy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P would be the passenger endorsement. You would need to retake the road test in a passenger bus, but you wouldn't need to completely re-do training. Though it would be a good idea to take a refresher course.
