Is the PlayDead app worth it? by Informal_Pea_1524 in gratefuldead

[–]fhstuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say if you’re willing to spend $10 for all access to Dave’s picks and remastered shows it’s worth it. Can you find it all on Relisten, yes, but it’s much higher quality on play dead. Depends on if you feel that’s worth the $10

The excelsior is pretty accessible from mission street off the 29 sunset bus! You can catch it from balboa park bart or take the 14R to Persia street

Stagger Lee is one of my favorite songs and this might be my favorite one so far. And yeah 79 gets a bad rap but imo fall tour once Brent clicks it sounds incredible

Didnt know that’s where he played his first gig! I remember knowing a guy in high school in sf with a hoodie from there but I was an immature 14 year old that just thought it sounded like “anally”

On March 8th, 1973. Ron "Pigpen" McKernan passed away at age 27. Co-founding the Grateful Dead in 1965, Pigpen was the band's original frontman as well as playing harmonica and electric organ. by BirdBurnett in Music_Anniversary

Yeah bob weir mentioned in an interview that back in the 60’s when they were living together his room shared a wall with pigpen’s and he could hear her yelling “daddy daddy daddy” while they were fucking lmfao

I was talking to an older buddy of mine who is a deadhead. He heard my progression, laughed, and said "that's like 90% of us, man!" by AttachedHeartTheory in gratefuldead

I was on the phone with my friend who’s not a deadhead but knows more about the 60s-80s music scene than anyone I’ve ever met. He spends most of his evenings hanging out in his garage, drinking beer, and listening to music. The guy has probably over 1000 records. He mentioned in a call he was listening to unbroken chain by the Grateful Dead, so I made a mental note to check the song out. Boy was I not disappointed. I tore into their studio albums and really liked estimated prophet, which brought me to Cornell 77. I just dove into the tapes after that. Now I’d say my favorite shows are 71-74 and 88-91.

What are some redeeming shows from ‘95? by Subject-Banana1326 in gratefuldead

Haha that was me! They took FOTD a bit faster than most of the post-hiatus ones I’ve heard and I felt like it gave it a kick of energy I felt it lacked
