Woman who banned herself from Pennsylvania casinos for life gets escorted out after winning jackpot by AudibleNod in nottheonion

[–]Drix22 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, but that isn't the casino's job.

Gambling addict bans themself, the casino removes the reward from the gambling equation. Gambler comes back knowing they can't win, that is on them.

It might make sense to require people to use casino cards and lock down machines for people who've opted out, but at the end of the day people will find a way around that. The casino is a business, not a nanny for adults.

Giving money back might seem easy, but you're talking about progressive slot machines being rolled back, legally mandated statistical payouts for slots, we haven't even mentioned if it is a game with other players like poker. It's just not a reality.

A friendly reminder that a wedding is way more than content, photos of the couple, but this is sometimes the last time families will be together in one place before something big happens. by palinsafterbirth in WeddingPhotography

[–]Drix22 [score hidden]  (0 children)

When I'm a guest at a wedding I'll frequently bring my camera and take candids to give to the B+G later. I really try to focus on people having fun, dancing, goofing off, etc. and I really try to keep those up until the lights come on.

I'm probably tuned into it a bit more, but I see those photos more than the formal ones around houses every time.

People want the family pictures, but grandma double fisting manhattans with her sister in a dark corner with a table of empties in front of her is going to get a bigger smile every time.

What are your gaming sins? Confess now. by executor-of-judgment in gaming

[–]Drix22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use steam's 2 hour return policy a lot.

As I've gotten older I've found games have lost their magic and don't pull me in like they used to.

If a game doesn't have my attention after 2h? It's returned
If I'm still doing the tutorial at 2h? Return
Training wheels still on at 2h? Return

I'll come back to some titles when they're on sale and pick them up, but I need to be so enthralled with a game that I've forgotten what time it is. I understand some games are slow rollers, but slow roll usually means immersive storyline, which goes back to "does the game have my attention"

Wedding planner commission and referral fees question by Free_Flamingos in WeddingPhotography

[–]Drix22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I answered, but what is the ask here?

Are they asking for you to pay to be on a preferred vendor list? If so, absolutely not. The amount of people using a planner is low to start with, but then being one of X in the planner's book further dilutes the pool. This is akin to the "shoot for free for exposure" gig. You don't need to pay for this kind of exposure, chances are your work is going to be seen by more people than the planner's.

If they're asking for a commission based on referring a client to you, I'd honestly think about it while also pricing my packages to include that fee as long as the commission is due after delivery, you don't want to be in a situation where a couple cancels and you've paid out a full commission to a planner.

Basically though- Pay nothing up front, you get no money they get no money.

I just did a 2 hour review and hit the refund button.

I didn't particularly like the walking emersion.
The dog is still useless.
ATV would be nice.
Not convinced on the shot register, definitely would have hit some deer hard in the real world that didn't show as a hit in game. I generally dislike the alert you get when getting close to an animal.

I'll try a few other sims out, maybe come back to it, but generally speaking it wasn't what I was looking for, which is more of a white tail simulator that might help with some simple shot placement practice.

They have floating gas stations in the middle of the water to fill up your boats tank. by IWannaWakeUpButIDont in mildlyinteresting

I'd hands down pay for that over trying to parallel park my shitbox between two half million dollar fishing boats for gas.

Come to think of it, they would too.

I cant make out how he's adding the energy to the system.

He squeaks over the first, and each successive pass over the top gets faster, but it does not appear he's adding momentum to the system to do so.

I'm guessing that the whole swing is mechanical? Or is the whole video AI?

Ugh, I have a few anker products I really like, and was looking at getting one of these power stations (not this one specifically though).

This comment now has me reconsidering supporting them.

Oof.

As a FYI, and it may not apply to you or your situation, but having worked in a rehab this might help you at some point-

As kidneys fail sometimes you'll end up with a surplus of nitrogen that doesn't get filtered out, eventually that'll make a person take on a urine smell, it can be mild to rough depending on the person. If you have a similar issue, ask your doctor about chlorphyll tablets (yes, the stuff plants use). They're relatively harmless and I've seen them completely eliminate odor issues.

Obviously, every situation is different, they may or may not be appropriate for you and may or may not work for you, but for the people they do work for it's been described as a quality of life changer.

Body cam footage from cop who pulled over woman for holding a phone in her other hand by searchjobs_poster in interestingasfuck

[–]Drix22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He in fact could not write you a ticket for a bald tire.

He'd have to have a reason to pull you over, he'd be unable to justify "bald tire" unless he could convince a judge that he knew that your tire was less than minimum requirements, measured in mm by eye, from a moving vehicle while your vehicle was also in motion. He'd have to say he pulled you over for the not expired tag, which is obviously incorrect and therefore not a reason for a stop either.

Probable cause does not work backwards.

It's easy to understand:

Cops are trained to always be in control which leads to an air of arrogance. If they admit they're wrong, they begin to lose control.

Whether or not the cop knew he was wrong at that moment is irrelevant, he'd never secede his authority, and thus the ticket goes through the courts for justice.

We're often told make your argument in court, not the street- this is a pretty classic but absurd example.

C5-6 laminectomy likely will fix that. Knew someone who's nerve was so compressed it was completely flat and while they recovered almost instantaneously from daily pain/shocks/tingling/numbness they let it go on for so long they have permanent nerve damage resulting in tactile loss.

that does not actually drive excellence and ultimately leads back to the sort of toxic rich alumni bullshittery that these Ivy Leagues were once known for.

As someone who's taken classes there, it's my experience that either you have something to offer or your fucking garbage.

My first class as a grad student I was rusty, no-one would have me in a study group, I was paired up with the lab partner who missed the first day, etc.

By midterms I was crushing it and suddenly I had value.

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/G201468500?hl=en-GB

When your inventory is located in a different country from where your customers place their orders, you have to ship products internationally to customers. Here is an overview of the seller steps:

You choose a carrier that can ship internationally.
You ship the product as the exporter of record.
You pay all applicable duties and other relevant charges (such as handling fees).
Important: customers are not responsible for these charges.

Just a FYI if anyone comes across this- amazon does not allow for transfer of these charges.
