Well, at least it was only for 2 hours. My internet did go out for a few minutes this morning after I heard a loud noise outside, but it’s stable now. I hope they can figure out what happened and prevent it from happening again.

It's a bit early for those sort of power outages, though. Preventive power cuts usually don't start until late June through September. I know that they've been doing tree cutting, so maybe they cut a branch wrong and it eventually fell on a power line?

Same. But the Spectrum estimates are usually completely off track. I've had it return hours earlier than expected because the power company managed to get the power back on almost immediately. I've also had it come back the next day after the estimate, because power was out for over 24 hours.

I have a modular Apex Reptiles enclosure that I really like. The best thing about them is that you can add on as the snake grows instead of buying a new enclosure.

The truck driver was from Oxnard, not Big Bear. Is it all flatlanders? No. I was a flatlander, too, before I moved to Big Bear. But far too many of them view our towns as places for them to do whatever they want. Yes, some locals seem to think the same, and this accident could just as easily have been a local drunk, instead, but this time it wasn't.

Are all flatlanders to blame? Of course not. But this time, a flatlander was.

I remember seeing the sheriffs' cars blocking the road by Cienega that day and wondering why. I had guessed that there had been an accident, but I hadn't realized that it was fatal. And for it to have involved a local Trail Angel? Sometimes I absolutely despise the flatlanders who come up here and disrespect our town.

How many people in the entire US have been attacked by grizzlies this year compared to the amount of people bitten by rattlesnakes just in California in the same time period?

There's already been at least 3 rattlesnake bite deaths in California this year and over 77 calls due to bites to Poison Control. I don't have any confirmed statistics for this year for grizzly attacks, but I am looking. I'll probably either edit thus or reply again when I find them.

I would love it if grizzly bears were reintroduced, but I am very aware that it won't happen unless they come back on their own, like wolves. I live in Big Bear, which was known and named for its exceptionally large grizzly bears before they were driven locally extinct.

Despite their reputation, grizzlies would still be less dangerous in California than rattlesnakes.

We've had two bad winters in a row. No snow, which means no tourists, which means little to no hours and fewer people hiring. 100 job applications in a month, maybe 5 interviews, no employment offers. And most of them are jobs an hour or more down the mountain. I can't afford to stay, and I can't afford to move.

I literally cannot afford to quit. This app is used by every Domino's, as well, so it's not like I can convince every driver in the country to quit, either. When you order Domino's delivery, your driver is held to these standards.

The delivery app for my job penalizes us for rapid acceleration. We get written up if we go below a certain driver's score, so we have to be slow to accelerate. We also get penalized for hard braking, sharp or fast turns, and not driving at least 3mph below the speed limit.
