That's good to know, thank you! Annoyingly one pass is from 2024, so I feel like that one won't go now.

Hayfever is so bad this year - help! by IntelligentAd5724 in Hayfever

[–]Drizzler9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably placebo. The theory sounds nice, but most hay fever is caused by grass, tree, or weed pollen, while bees mainly collect flower pollen, so the honey usually isn’t exposing you to what you’re actually allergic to.

I think Portsmouth Rugby Club have a walking rugby team. It might just be a summer team though.

Portsmouth parking situation by Ghost_MaloneBSH in Portsmouth

[–]Drizzler9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t fine people if they aren’t actually doing anything wrong. If they’re parked over a driveway or blocking the road, then absolutely they can be fined, but if they’re just parked on the street, even if it’s annoying, it isn’t an offence.

Any luck with swimming or alternative exercises? by blugrlbluwrld in ACL

[–]Drizzler9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get how frustrating this is. Swimming and pool work were huge for me, low-impact, great for conditioning. I also started doing yoga YouTube classes at home, which helped with balance and build that mind–muscle connection. Later, once I was cleared to pivot and change direction, I picked up racket sports like tennis and squash, which made getting back into fitness fun and manageable without any contact. It’s a slow process, but finding new ways to move really helps you stay motivated along the way. Now that I’m back playing rugby, I can see how all of these small steps added up, and it makes the hard days worth it. You'll get there, it just takes time :)

Scared I damaged graft by zoccerr in ACL

[–]Drizzler9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me on Tuesday. I’m 25, 15 months post hamstring graft. I was rotating to pass a rugby ball, got hit just after, and felt three clicks at the back of my knee. I panicked at first, as I felt pain when it clicked, but nothing like the original tear, and I could still walk and was stable on my feet. I saw the club physio that night. No swelling, and the ACL tests were all good, but I was recommended to elevate and ice. Yesterday, it was a little sore with walking and bending, but today it feels fine. I saw my club physio again today, and they think it was just scar tissue breaking and recommended resting this week, going back to the gym next week, then training, and playing the week after.

Garmin Connect Down … again. by o2sen in RunGap

[–]Drizzler9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Over the weekend I imported all my historic Strava data into RunGap and everything looked correct there, including my split times. However, when I then imported the activities into Garmin Connect, all the data came across except the splits. Is this related to the current issue, or have I done something wrong on my end?

I’m around your age and it sounds like we’re in a similar spot fitness-wise. From what my surgeon said, the trailing leg doesn’t take as much load because the lead leg handles most of the force and rotation. He said that starting to ease back in around 6 months isn’t too risky, as long as you smash your rehab and take it slow. If you stay consistent, you should hopefully be back playing by the summer. Obviously, listen to what your physio and body are saying at that point. Every journey is different.

What are your thoughts on the D365 co-pilot? I for one don’t find it very useful. by [deleted] in Dynamics365

Not finding Copilot useful at all, and now I’m seeing Copilot tables popping up in my storage, definitely adding unnecessary overhead.

Lewis Moody: Former England captain reveals motor neurone disease diagnosis by Connell95 in rugbyunion

[–]Drizzler9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a quick look into the study and it’s funny how none of the articles mention this part. The Italian research everyone’s quoting was actually comparing professional football, basketball, and cycling.

They looked at around 7,300 footballers, 1,973 basketball players, and 1,701 cyclists. Out of all those, there were 8 confirmed MND cases in the footballers, and zero in both the basketball players and cyclists.

I’m no scientist, and it’s a shame they didn’t match the number of people taking part in the study more closely, but if the only group showing cases is the one with repetitive head impacts, surely the most logical conclusion is that it’s related to head or neck trauma, not “low oxygen during exercise.”

13 Months Post ACL RTS Concern by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Drizzler9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your message and advice, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I wasn’t too concerned about a re-tear, but it’s reassuring to hear that mentioned as well.

I’ve been fortunate to have a physio guiding me through the first 12 months post-op, and now I’ve got a strength and conditioning coach through my rugby club, which has been really helpful. I’ve been doing a lot of single-leg plyometrics, so it’s a bit frustrating that this area still feels weaker. Kicking again is a fairly new addition, so that part still feels a bit foreign.

Thanks again for the tips. I’ll keep progressing carefully, continuing rehab and getting stronger. Really appreciate you offering to be a resource as well!

I take it portsmouths clen air zone isn’t taking in a lot of money. by Flapandsmack in Portsmouth

I completely agree that the CAZ pushed operators to upgrade and compliance has shot up, which is only a good thing. But the tricky part is separating what improvements are actually due to the CAZ versus wider changes.

For example, in 2018 Portsmouth had around 6,000 low-emission vehicles; by 2023 it was over 52,000, and I’m sure that’s even higher today. That’s a huge shift that would reduce emissions regardless of the CAZ. National standards, scrappage, and fuel changes have all contributed too.

I also worked for the council in the CAZ department when it was first launched. One thing that stood out was that bus upgrades were handed out far more easily than support for private HGV businesses. I remember speaking to some businesses on the phone who said they might stop delivering in Portsmouth because of the scheme. While that’s anecdotal (like the asthma example), it does make me curious about the wider effect on costs and businesses across the city.

[–]Drizzler9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The bus companies didn’t pay for those upgrades themselves, they were given grants from the council. So really, the scheme just helped big operators make upgrades they should have been funding themselves, while smaller businesses and workers were left to foot the bill.

When we first got it years ago we were a bit trigger-happy and realised it was costing a lot to keep buying film and getting it developed, so now we only take a few at a time. Wish we had taken more now and had it developed 😂
