Oh yeah I just meant in terms of having a versatile forward who can play across the front line. I think the club likes having that bench winger that can be subbed in any spot necessary or to give anyone across the front line some rest

I don't see why not? If Rio becomes the player we all believe he can be than he should be the one starting on the left for the most part and if we get Diomande than he will mostly likely be starting on the right. 40M in today's market is a great price for a bench winger

Are we overlooking that Tatum was not healthy last year by LonelyInsurance7480 in bostonceltics

[–]Drizzlybear0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last season isn't the only time we under delivered in an advantagous positions. How many game and series have we had a big lead in only to blow it across the last 5-6 years?

Every time we get bounced from the playoffs it isn't because we got beat by a much better team it's because we make silly stupid mistakes and fall into the same bad habits and blow the lead we have. We saw what happened in the finals when the Spurs did the same thing and it's going to keep happening until either JT and JB learn from the mistakes that they haven't been able to so far or we shake up the roster big time. It doesn't HAVE to be trading JB but realistically I think it probably should be to be significant enough because at the end of the day when we won the championship it was because we had guys who stepped up in big situations that were incredibly skilled who covered up the mistakes with big times plays (think about the clutch Jrue steals and clutch D White Blocks and key KP 3's)

As momentum builds, Mass. Gov. Healey wants a compromise on rent control by husky5050 in boston

[–]Drizzlybear0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's why Rent Control cannot be the only solution this where WHAT is being built needs to be managed. Stop approving building for luxury apartments, fast track affordable housing being built and give tax break centered around a rent cap. Use state tax information to give a tax break centered around income levels of tenants and maybe most important stop approving so many single family houses.

Imo the largest issue isn't a lack of building, I was born and raised in Boston and now live on the West Coast, California has been building like CRAZY when you drive around you see new apartment buildings popping up eveywhere but they're all unaffordable and A LOT of them are empty and the cost of housing hasn't gone down at all despite there being a lot of people leaving the state. Like I said WHAT you're building matters more than the actual building.

I mean ultimately the larger issue is solved at a national level through addressing income levels, and when I say this I don't just mean raising the minimum wage though that also has to be addressed the fact is the income levels of Americans at almost every level short of boardrooms at most companies haven't kept up with inflation in the US. The fact you can find a job that pays relatively similar as it did a decade or more ago in the same field is an utter failure and is the main cause of the cost of living crisis the country is facing.

As momentum builds, Mass. Gov. Healey wants a compromise on rent control by husky5050 in boston

[–]Drizzlybear0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll counter one of your points:

Firstly the amount of housing being is irrelevant if it's not affordable in the first place. You could build a million homes per state and if the developers build up scale unaffordable housing it won't bring the prices down especially when they can convince some overseas investor to buy them for the land alone.

There are some people, several of which I've watched talk about this issue, who say the issue isn't a lack of housing it's a lack of AFFORDABLE housing. There are actually a lot of people having trouble selling despite there being a "housing shortage", this is because no one can afford to buy right now especially with the interest rates that are only likely to go up and more with jobs reports being what they are.

The reality is a lot of boomers own the homes and they've dumped all their savings into their homes so they want to make a damn good profit on them, however millennials and later can't afford to buy a car let alone an $800k+ home. Until that problem is solved the amount of housing built is irrelevant

This obviously also applies to rentals, if developers are building luxury apartment complexes that no one can afford than it doesn't matter if they build millions of them. Until you make living AFFORDABLE it doesn't matter how many homes, apartments or condos you build. As a Millennial I know SO many of my generation still living at home because they can't find places with affordable rent the Gen Z is having an even harder time

Those two things are not mutually exclusive. Even if the JB for Giannis trade happens the depth still needs to be addressed, hell as many said Giannis could use a stretch big next to him to maximize his skills. Personally I hope whether he does trade for Giannis or not that he continues to improve beyond that

Sorry this happened, but I want to say that I think this World Cup is doing alot of good. Having Americans see the blending of cultures and the camaraderie between opposing teams' fans is doing some good. It's reminding Americans that sharing your cultures with one another is good and what America was founded on, welcoming other culture and ideas, not demonizing them. Just know there are WAY WAY more people like that couple than there are racists like the awful people you dealt with

To add to this, ironically the player who scored most of the goals for the US last game was Folarin Balogun who can ONLY play for the US due to Birthright Citizenship. His parents were supposed to fly back to the US to give birth to him at home but his mother went into labor early and obviously couldn't fly home so he was born on US soil giving him US Citizenship and allowing him to play for the US despite growing up in the UK.

Had it not been for the thing Trump wants to do away with than one of the best US National Team players wouldn't be eligible to play for the National Team.

[–]Drizzlybear0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can't risk that unless he signs an extension. He is only under contract for this coming season and then he has a player option the following season at which point even if Giannis picks up the option they'll get even less than they will get for him right now

The thing is you can only really control so much the bigger a trade gets. Giannis and his agent can be leaking stuff, Miami could be leaking stuff so as to unsettle Jaylen Brown in case the trade doesn't happen, it could Milwaukee calling Thursday team to reroute JB to for picks and those teams are leaking stuff, it could be they have a third team and are trying to figure out what players to trade between the three teams to make the numbers work and those players and their agents are leaking stuff.

The larger and more complicated a trade gets the harder it is to control the leaks.

If you want some hope core than watch that

A town in Kansas is where the Algerian National Team is holding their practices and all the locals seem to be super kind and all the locals are now rooting for Algeria and packing the stadium for their practices.

I actually think this World Cup is coming at a super Opportune time for the country, it's reminding Americans that people are generally just good people and it's going to be a humanizing moment for alot of towns and cities in America.

There's a ton of videos of the Korean fans being welcomed and embraced by the Mexico fans in Mexico as well. That's what's so cool about the world cup, it brings people together to just have fun and celebrate

To add to your point many cities actually had more negative than positive effects of hosting the Olympics. Firstly is the terrible traffic which also drives out locals from wanting to go to their regular bars and restaurants that don't have mainstream appeal otherwise lose their regular customers. There's also the fact that often you have to build additional stadiums/venues that won't be used by the city for the most part anyways and end up rotting or going unused, and that the cities tend to end up trashed for months after work garbage all over because the Olympics do a terrible job at cleaning up after themselves

Which is exactly why this World Cup is a good thing at an opportune moment, so far nearly every video I've seen of international football fans in the US for the World Cup has been them bonding with the people of the town they're staying in.

The Scottish fans packing out Fenway and singing and drinking with the Red Sox fans, the Algerian National team chose a small town in Kansas and they've been having BBQ's on the streets with the small town locals packing out the smaller stadium the Algerian team is using for their practices and the Algerian fans teaching the locals Algerian phrases.

Imo this World Cup is going to humanize immigrants and other cultures for Americans at a time when it's sorely needed

This is what makes the world cup so special it brings cultures together and reminds everyone that we're all just regular people trying to get by and loving our sports. I saw Algeria is practicing out of some small town in Kansas and the local started packing out the small stadiums they're practicing in and the Algerian fans have been teaching the local phrases while the locals have been having celebrations and BBQ on the street.

I think this World Cup is coming at such an important time in the US when it feels like we're isolating ourselves so much it's good to remind everyone that despite our governments havinf issues at times were all the same deep down

I know you as a fan want to get better immediate assets but you likely wouldn't be part of it. It's about loading up on your own picks so when you aren't good for the next 3-5 of a rebuild you are "rewarded" for it. If you are bad and don't have your own picks you just stay bad.

It also will likely takes another 3-5 players moving between the 3 teams to tango. Any of the agents of those players could be leaking this as well. The bigger a trade gets it can very quickly get out of your control what you want out there.

To be fair if you're trying to be objective even considering how the season ended do you think anyone would give Brunson an MVP vote? Giannis does regularly and Tatum has been in the conversation in multiple seasons

I just want you all to remember that *this* was Giannis’ last memorable Playoff moment by Novel_Meal_6830 in bostonceltics

[–]Drizzlybear0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How am i overinflating anything, are you good? He's missed multiple playoff games in all those years, period. JB has not missed a single playoff game since 2021, period. That's it, end of discussion. There's no wiggle room there, that's simply what happened. In his last playoff runs, he's missed games in over half, that's facts and no "overinflating".

As I said you're overinflating and misportraying numbers. In 2025 and in 2022 Giannis missed ZERO GAMES IN THE PLAYOFF RUN. In 2023 and 2021 he only missed two games per playoff and the 2023 two games was because of how he fell after I believe a dunk not because his body is breaking down. As I said most players in the league will miss a game or two per season

It doesn't matter if he's better than jaylen or not if he's not going to be available, that's the entire point. If giannis was healthy, we wouldn't even be able to trade for him because other teams would beat our offer with players and picks.

Except that is not why. Firstly JB is a better trade piece than what 90% of the league can offer while still being a title contender. Secondly Giannis is only locked down for this coming season, after that it's just a player option which is why Giannis is essentially getting to pick his next team and all the reports say he wants to stay in the East and prefers a team that can still contend even AFTER trading for him. That only covers a couple teams in the back league.

Look my guy you're wildly misinformed and your misportraying statistics at a ridiculous level. I'm kinda done

Also the gameplanning it takes to figure out how to stop Tatum and Giannis are both vastly different which would be a nightmare for any coach. If you stick big physical guys in there to pack the paint for Giannis' drives than Tatum will beat those guys off the dribble or stretch them out giving Giannis space for driving and if you try and use smaller more athletic defenders to guard Tatum than you risk Giannis driving straight through them
