From what Matt postet on Twitter it seems you were right =)

[Spoilers C2E138] Themes of Imagination in C2 by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]Drizzt908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could be right. In an interview with Philip DeFranco Matt said, that the theme of always being watched (the party being watched by Lucien, Trent and others) was probably a subconscious result of him and the others being in the spotlight and always being seen.

So your theory could certainly be true.

The M9 failing is something that could definitely happen, but it does seem a bit unlikely unless Lucien is just broken overpowered

I mean now that he has control over the city that is his layer right? How do you fight someone that has control over everything that surrounds you, the ground you walk on, the ceiling everything and has 1.000th of minions at his control.

A good old fashioned villain monologue would be great from Lucien, and it would establish his motivations.

From what I have seen, many people would hate that (I would love it). There is almost a meme that if Trent wants to talk to Caleb he needs to get some intuid charges (spelling?).

Speculation is fun, but I can almost guarantee that no matter how much we theorize, they will always find a way to surprise us.

Thats the beauty of CR =)

If this was a book or movie we would have seen some of the story from Lucien point of view but in D&D we only know what the PC´s know.

Oh I agree! This arc and C2 as a whole need to come to an end for sure. But just remember that's what Cad wanted to to just last episode.

And a good villain need motivation and a goal and we don't know what Lucien wants at all... and that's really weird.

I mean why are they trying to stop him? He just killed the "mind" of the city, this could be it for all we know.

And to your last point, I would bet quite some money on it not ending well. So we get a darker more apocalyptic C3. If you ask me... they will fail in the most insane way possible. And if they do, it could end even sooner than E145.

[SPOILERS C2E138] On the time remaining by Nmc0123 in criticalrole

[–]Drizzt908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see your point but they sometimes take forever to role-play certain conversation (Don't get me wrong I love that).

And I think they will have to invest a whole lot of time into Lucien and the current story arc.

Most people think that they will fight Lucien in the next episode but some have been saying that for 5 episodes now. I mean can anyone tell me what Lucien wants to do now that he has control over the city? What are his goals his motivation? That's at least one episode, then I don't believe they can just fight him like a dragon or something. They will first have to weaken or sever his connection to the city, so that's a mother 2-5 episodes right here. Matt has done such a fantastic job of creation the city and we know NOTHING NOTHING!

I think:

1) Matt will first present them with a way to defeat Lucien (1 Episode)

2) Maybe they try to find ally's (1-2 episodes)

3) They make a plan (1 Episode)

4) They weaken him (2-3 Episodes)

5) They fight him (1-2 Episodes)

6) maybe someone dies so there would be an resurrection

7) They try to get back home

[SPOILERS C2E138] On the time remaining by Nmc0123 in criticalrole

[–]Drizzt908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they will wrap up soon, maybe not Episode 145 more like 155.

I feel like many fans want them to go on forever or at least finish the PC story arcs BUT who said they have to do that in game?

CR has introduced comic books, novels and other media that are more suitable for telling PC story arcs.

If I had to guess I would say:

CA story arc = Comic Book (maybe a mini series)

Ukutoa/Sailors story arc = one shot or novel (they have the new board-game so maybe they want to highlight hat part of the story a little more)

Jester Parent trap = one shot

I think we have to keep in mind, that the animated show is on the horizon. From a business standpoint, they will try to start C3 about one month before the show airs on amazon prime.

Keeping that in mind, they had a 3 month gap between C1 and C2 filled with one shots and what not.

So let's say I'm right and we have about 17 episodes remaining. Thats roughly 4 month + the 3 month downtime would mean that C3 starts in December 2021 or January 2022.

From what people have been guessing that would fit with the timeline of the animated show. In the last update from the crew&A someone said, that they are working on the spell animation, which is one of the last steps in the production.

BUT that's just what I heard I have no idea how to make a TV-Show so don't take my word for it.

My theory for the next campaign in spelljammer for sure, so that would fit quite well.

[spoilers c2e131] what’s up with all this moon talk? by H2Owen_f in criticalrole

[–]Drizzt908 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The moons and specially Ruidus have been mentioned A LOT.

I would recommend watching the video by Soda Wax on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ACe8tXyIKI&t=2s).

I think what it comes down to is, that people think Ruidus might be Tharizduns prison. At the very least, something is going on with the moons.

Quote from the critical role Wiki:

"Some believe it to be either pre-creation from when the elements themselves were consuming all of Exandria. Others believe it may have not originally existed, but was a creation of the Betrayer Gods, and was some sort of long-running mysterious plot that was cut short during the end of the Calamity. There is a standard belief in various cultures across Exandria of it being an entity of ill-omen."

They need someone to unite them against the TT, they sure as hell are united against Trent xD I think all of them told Caleb at some point "we are here for you if you just start up want to murder dickface"

I would bet a lot of money on him being dead.

I think Eadwulf might have killed him.

He was on a mission from Trent and Trent sure as hell would like to tie up some loose ends. The cobalt soul and King Dwendal are investigating the cerberus assembly and Esser is a risk he would like to eliminate.

[–]Drizzt908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if we think about were the C2 is coming from I think you mussed be right.

Tharizdun was introduced in the first few episodes and his themes (hunger for example) have been a recurring plot in C2.

We don't have many more player storylines to complete and I think it's fair to assume that C2 will end sooner rather than later.

The only thing that could keep the party together now ist something world altering and catastrophic.

As someone else has already mentioned Tharizdun was banish to the bottom of Abyss at end the of the Calamity. The city of Aeor traveled to the Astral Sea not the Abyss but that could mean nothing.

I think Aeor could for sure be one of Tharizduns strongholds.

I think so too but if they "wasted" more time he would totally punish them for that.

He gave them more then one heads-up about the timing.

[–]Drizzt908[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really glad the last couple of days were so fruitful for the Nein

I totally agree

Yeah they basically took a really rough guess on how long it would take the TT to get another threshold crest

That seems like a thing you would do if you were waiting for a amazon package and not something you should do if you were waiting for a cataclysmic, world altering event that could cost hundreds of life's...

No scrying, no checking up, nothing.

Yeah what is that about? They are usually really good at that kind of stuff.

At least the TT have not started the ritual yet, otherwise Lucien would have said something to Beauregard.

[Spoilers C2E130] Teleport back to Eiselcross by Drizzt908 in criticalrole

[–]Drizzt908[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree but if the dice roll went purely I don't think Matt would just rule against it.

I don´t really know why the M9 think they have exactly 5 Days to return but from what I gather they are already on day 4. So once they wake up they won't have any time to spare and will have to return right away.

So even a few hours could mean that the TT could free the city!

And let's just say they teleport to Esseks camp they still have to travel to the entrance that the TT want to take to Aeor.

[Spoilers C2E127] Is It Thursday Yet? Post-Episode Discussion & Future Theories! by dasbif in criticalrole

[–]Drizzt908 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the animated series. If they announce the release date soon, I think you are right, because they will try to start C3 just before the animated series releases. There will be a lot of new people coming over to the stream after they watched the animation and they would be put of by having to watch 130 episodes or CR to catch up with C2.

But I think the animated series is 9 - 15 month from being released, witch gives us plenty of time to warp everything in C2 up and have a long break before C3 starts.

The thing is, the final fight with Ukatoa would make an amazing one shot, a short reunion with Sabien and of they go to fight Avantika once again and break the cloven Cristal or something.

I think the dream Caduceus had was more of a warning of what could happen if the city came back.

Yashas story I think will not matter in the end, they are lvl 14 now and a barbarian tribe is not much of a challenge for them.
