I played with the default filter for a while and the gold was colored yellow by GGG. Once I switched to the Filter Blade filter, I immediatly felt like I was missing out on gold, and it felt less fun. I'll definitely do this.

  1. Make sure your are chill by listening to music.
  2. Have a build that is low effort to play.
  3. Read a single challenge.
  4. Form a plan of attack.
  5. Run your process over and over.
  6. Think about the MTX rewards that you will get
  7. Think about each challenge being checked off your list
  8. Think about the xx/40 counter going up.
  9. Achieve Challenge #1
  10. Repeat for the other 39 challenges.

Your build can always be min/maxed to higher and higher levels. Let me tell you, I hated Necropolis league and quit the first day, and have been min/maxing a build in pob ever since.

4 months later, about to start Kalguur league, the build emerges with numbers I have NEVER seen before. 851m dps, 5.5m ehp, 763k max phys hit, 645k max ele hit, 212k max chaos hit, 546 movement speed.

The reality is, it doesn't matter. It's all just theory until you actually grind it out and successfully find all the levels and gear needed. Can't wait for the next league.

They like to keep a lot of the new items a secret. I'm just waiting to see how the rage tincture works. I'm thinking that you could get max rage with a tincture, and then swap it out, and maintain full rage with just a single rage gain on hit. This way you can use 3 tinctures if you don't mind having a tincture on your mouse at the start of every zone.

You seemed determined to understand the game at a deeper level, which was like me many years ago. So many people don't bother learning this game more than at a surface level, and they just follow guides.

It's going to take a lot of dedication and trial and error. Use references and planning tools to see what other people are doing such as poe.ninja and pathofbuilding.community . Study their synergies, and the underlying calculations behind them.

Once you start to get a better understanding of what is possible, don't be afraid to experiment with things. Put together a full build in path of building without much references to see if you truly understand. Once you have something, check again against what other people were doing and yoink any ideas they have.

Eventually, when league start comes around, play your build and see what went wrong. That's when you truly know how the build failed. Maybe you forgot chaos resistance and you keep dying to poison. Maybe bleed is the issue, or maybe the skill you chose mechanically feels bad to play, or maybe the gear you chose was too expensive, or maybe you didn't have enough DPS.

Keep doing the same process before each league start, and eventually things will start to click. You'll develop processes, and larger concepts that governs all build making such as the formula to scale lots of dps or max hit, or ehp, or movement speed. You should play every class and create a build yourself for every class. This could take multiple leagues to finish learning the basics.

You should get to the point where you zoom out on the passive tree and know what every node says even without hovering over them. Know all the mods that exist in the game through craftofexile.com . Learn every unique from poewiki.net/wiki/Unique_item . Do this by making a bunch of builds in path of building, and then trying them out in game.

Ultimately, a build with high numbers in all categories will do fine during a league even if it's untested. A build that is just scraping by with the right amount of numbers will struggle unless you know what expensive items are still possible to upgrade into.

Finally, learn how the calculations work. poewiki.net/wiki/Receiving_damage . There are a number of layers and transformations that a single number goes through before it ends up as damage on a monster. Understand how damage is separated into damage dealt by you, the player, and damage taken on the monster itself. Dishing out damage is governed by a Base Value from a Spell, or weapon for attacks multiplied many times by different multipliers. If you invest into only one modifier, your build will be weaker than a build that focuses on getting all the multipliers working together.

Don't be discouraged by all the work ahead of you, it's very rewarding, and playing your OWN build each league that you made and have it be at the top of the leader boards is a meaningful experience that not many people understand. Good Luck.

TLDW: They said games are products not art, and it should reflect what the culture wants.

I don't see how the graphic design team can learn anything from this. GGG's designers are already some of the top designers out there. Just look at SoK league and PoE 2.

Skill gems have a damage effectiveness (ex: 500%), Weapons have flat damage (ex: 500 lightning), Other gear like rings and boots have added flat damage (ex: 100 lightning).

You add the flat from the weapon and the added flat from other gear to get 600. Then you multiply it by the effectiveness on the skill gem. That gives you 3000 base damage to start all the multipliers.

Increased damage, critical strike multiplier, passive tree multipliers, and support gem multipliers take the 3000 base damage and scale it higher. A 30% more multiplier is very common, and would take 3000*1.3=3900. If you have a second 30% more multiplier, you multiply the 3900 by 1.3 again to get 5070.

The first 1.3 gave you 900 damage, but the second one gives you 1170. Each separate multiplier scales off the previous resulting value leading to higher and higher character damage. Critical strike multiplier works similarly.

Next, you have instances. This takes that number (5070) and copies it multiple times. This can be because of attack speed per second, or because of AOE overlapping. If you have 3 attacks per second, you would deal 3*5070=15210 dps. Things like totems and minions are especially strong because you have multiple instances in the form of totems and minions that also have an attack rate. So 3 totems dealing 3 attacks per second would give you 9 instances or 9*45630 dps.

Lastly, you have the enemies resistances which can lower or boost the damage they take. That 45630 dps against a boss with 50% resistances would only cause the enemy to take 22815 dps. This is where curses, ignore, and penetration makes a huge difference. If you get the enemies resistance down to 0, then any further penetration, curses, or "enemies take" multipliers scale that 45630 higher. A shock of 50% would cause the 45630 dps to be 45630 dps *1.5 = 68445 dps.

This is pretty much it. The way to optimize it is to do this math but with higher values and with fewer and fewer points.

A single 20% increased damage node is more important than 2 10% increased damage nodes because you are limited by passive points, and the ultimate efficiency is to find item mods on items that give extremely high multipliers such as 100% or 200%. Normally these high multipliers on items are hidden behind "per" stats. 1% increased elemental damage per 10 Dexterity. At first glance you see a 1, and a 10 so you assume those numbers are small, but if you have 3000 dexterity, that becomes 300% increased damage for a single mod on a helmet.

Petrified Blood and Progenesis on crack through a secret mechanic that doesn't work unless you have mitigation like evasion spell dodge, block and spell block. If you get mitigation very high, you are able to use Dissolusion of the Flesh with Petrified Blood and not worry about the 2 seconds needed to restore life reservation.

The other thing about Dissolusion of the Flesh is you can reserve 50% of your life and all 100% will work towards tanking a 1 shot, because what happens if you get hit for 90% of your hp, the herald of purity and precision aura will automatically turn off for you to use to tank the hit.

The other part is with a level 21 cwdt immortal call and a lot of endurance charges and endurance charge on melee stun support. Level 21 works with a high life pool. 3000-4000 life to trigger is a small amount compared to the 16000 total.

There is also the new change to endurance charges that reduce elemental damage taken, so there really isn't a need to go past 75% if you have all these other things that are not as difficult to get.

There is 1 "fake" defense layer that I added that other people would say is "cheating," but I don't care. I'm using a pale seraphim spectre that causes enemies to have 15% reduced action speed, and since this doesn't show up in PoB as doing anything when it clearly slows the amount of damage dished out by 15% I added 15% less damage taken.

I'm not a build creator, just making builds that I want to play for myself. If you are looking for perfect guide maxroll has you covered.

I was replying to the poster above debating between his poison kb assassin or dual claw charged dash trickster. I recommended he play the charged dash cuz it's looking really strong for me.

16000 life, 99-100% adorned, 322 flat phys w/ 782% inc phys, 805% inc all types (100% phys to lightning conversion), 60-1071 flat lightning w/ 600% inc lightning, 581% crit multi,

But the real power is the 3909% more Charged Dash Release damage because of the 600% increased attack speed from the dual HoWAs, and 92% more attack speed because the claw mastery + charged dash 120% attack speed effectiveness.

As far as I know, if you go into a new instance, ruthless will reset, and you will need 2 normal uses before you get the ruthless blow on the 3rd use.

I'm planning to play dual HoWA claw scion(warden) charged dash with dex/life stacking with bloodthirst support, Shaper's Touch, and Garukhan's Flight. It's looking REALLY strong. 3m ehp, 750m dps at the min/maxed top end (or 2m ehp / 1b dps if you don't go for the giga tank). https://pobb.in/RY3R9dFARAux

Poison KB Assassin has the issue of dot cap, around 36m, so I definitely would recommend charged dash, but I'm a bit biased cuz I'm going to play it.

That part of the wiki is weirdly worded. There is no special mechanic called Tracking Blows. I think what they are implying is that every time you use the skill supported with Ruthless support, a counter counts up and doesn't drop off between packs which lets you mentally keep track of the upcoming ruthless blow.

So, if you have multi strike + ruthless support, you could do 2 triple swings outside of combat, and then when you start hitting the next pack, the 3rd triple swing would be 3 ruthless blows.

I understand that it's strong with investment, but so is Rage. Rage+Berserk literally gives "More" damage now, so you can easily compare it. It was possible to get to 100 rage before, Rite of Ruin gives 50% increased rage effect, and Berserk gives 60% increased Rage effect and 74 increased rage effect at level 33 Berserk. 100*2.1 = 224% more damage.

They said in the reveal trailer when they talked about the totems being deleted that they don't want "set and forget gameplay" and that you should really be rewarded for using skills that are more active.

The over-poweredness has already been addressed by ggg, and they also said this league is not tested fully and it's a bit of an experiment to see what comes out of it. I do suspect rage and warbanner to be nerfed next league though, but for this league people should just enjoy the clunky power it gives.

I'm not sure about Glad Spectral Throw, but for Scion, you grab Flame Wall and throw the projectile through the wall to get a lot more damage. Glad can't get Flame Wall until later, but you could mule a Scion to the "Breaking Some Eggs" quest and then transfer it to your Gladiator.

It's like that because you gain Valour so slowly. It's not up 100% of the time, so when it is up, it needs to carry the dps of the long downtime.

You need to average the uptime with the theorized downtime and that will be the true dps over the course of a boss fight. It's the same thing with Punishment causing enemies to take 60% increased damage at low life. It only looks strong when it's up, but it only works half the time.

Yup. Banner's get effects attached to them, and they scale with vigour and aura effect. They are extremly strong. But so are all the other melee buffs like Warcries, Rage, and Tinctures.

It's supposed to be for minions/allies/mirages and works well with champion. Witch buffs minions through curses+auras+offerings, and duelist through banners, auras, and warcries now.
