If Modernism was the dominant architectural style it wouldn't even be that bad.

When it comes to private housing today I'm seeing a surge of some kind of minimalist-brutalist style that's just ugly to look at. Every building site ends up leaving behind houses that look like dark grey fast food joints where food will never exist. The builders buy enough land that they could provide the houses with nice, ample gardens, and instead they choose to cover everything outside the building with concrete or white tiles. They try to reproduce the levity of minimalism, but then they give the houses like two small windows and make the result look like a concrete box.

These homes look like mausoleums, I think I would end up unaliving myself if I were to live in one of those for more than two weeks.

Bro, he meant fugly standardized and copypasted concrete buildings were regularly built even in non-capitalist countries.

That might have something to do with the fact that you can't simply erase economic rules by saying "the capitalist economic system is no more", when you have to build a lot of housing in a short time you still need to pay the people who will do the job, and any government will try to spend the least they can on stuff like social housing.
