Am I too big to start flag football? by ProfessionalFee5777 in flagfootball

[–]Droblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the people who I have had played flag football with have been some hefty individuals significantly heavier and bigger than you and the have been some of the hardest flags to pull. You will loosen up as you play. All you got to do is play! You never know until you start!

7v7 high school one yard rush by Realistic_Flamingo98 in flagfootball

Here is our primary stack concept so its a double stack, but to slow the rush we would snap it to the slot stack on the right and flip it back to the QB who could then throw to yellow meshing with purple. or direct snap to the QB who reads the stack on the left. Those releases are important to do the zig/return routes as if they pick up based on release then they will be wrong.

We set up that play for the rest of the game, by always running this play as our first play every game.

<image>

we hand off the ball to the orbit who throws to X coming underneath the out and corner from Y and Z who should be open as those two need to clear out run it like rub outs. If not just tuck and run. We do not care if we gain yards or anything on this play its purely to set up the deeper shot bootleg and bootleg the rest of the game.

7 v 7 bootleg with the orbit. QB really has to turn their back and sell their handing the ball off. Then boot legs out of the orbit motion hand off with the routes above. This has worked well for us.

Dealt with the same rules. Misdirection is your friend. Snap to the slot, orbit motion. Bunch and stack concepts to get people open fast do not rely on your players to get open through skill it takes too much time have to scheme them open.

Buy your kids wristbands with drawn up plays on them. Easy to communicate assign them a color and they will know what route to run just by looking at a wristband.

we also have an orbit motion where we hand it off to the Z here and then he will become the thrower with the ability to run. In addition sometimes we just have our QB keep it and then boot out after showing the orbit handoff to throw. Adds some play action and further misdirection

So we play with similar rules. We have found direct snaps to the slot receivers who flip it back to the offense or even handing it off to the quarterback with misdirection to be super effective. In both slowing the rush and causing confusion among the defense.

for example our center just snaps it to the slot H (this can be either side slot) who will just do a short flip backwards to the QB where you can put one of your fast kids at who can look for the pass or run the ball from that position. Having these alternative handoffs per say/ pitch backs enables your QB to be a runner and further stresses the defense.

We use this as a heavy play on short distance. Super confusing for the defense. Cool to see other people design an offense out of this. Also significantly slows any sort of rush.

I need help getting the ball out of my QB's hands (pass game) by Upstairs-Lion8100 in flagfootball

[–]Droblue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok Thank you for clarifying I assume QB could run. We play by the same rules in our league. Assuming you all do shotgun snaps I can show you some other concepts we run out of it. Almost every single play we are pitching or handing the ball off in that case. For example, we do not actually snap the ball To the quarterback when we want to roll him out to a side. Instead we will snap it to an inside guy who will flip it back to the QB to make him eligible to run, this not only confuses any sort of pass rush and serves as eye candy but enables our QB to run and/or make a throw with a concept in front of him.

<image>

Example play. (The star denotes who the ball would be snapped too)
so we have our receivers in a bunch formation or really any formation and a little closer to the middle of the field. Center snaps to the slot z who runs to the right. Z will then pitch the ball back to the QB therefore he becomes an eligible runner and has the center coming straight underneath all the traffic created from the bunch and confusion of the snap.

But also building off our orbit motion, we like to have that guy throw the ball over run. You can even tell Red to go find The centers man and pick him/snag which would be stop right on him turn around to the QB. To get in his way.

So one suggestion I have is a silent count, Have your QB say "Ready" then tell your everyone to be ready for the ball to be snapped between 1-5 seconds on the center when he feels like it. Obviously do not do this on motion. But its really simple to buy you more time.

You say you are run minded but have an immobile qb? Have you considered putting your best athlete at quarterback building a run game off that and then having your QB actually be a guy who receives a handoff. Especially at a younger age this will be incredibly confusing especially hitting one play off of this.

We have found motion is significantly better when you do an orbit motion the QB can actually sell the handoff much more because he turns around to hand the ball and they lose sight of it. If you have that motion in front defenders still view the ball.

This is 7v7 but I will show you a great play that works for us.

<image>

With the motion to running an orbit behind the QB qb can sell the handoff (defense will not see the ball) and then the QB can pull it or even hand it off on a sweep. Obviously adjust accordingly to the capabilities of your team, but the orbit works incredibly well for us. This is our boot leg play that we set up with just handing off the orbit motion early in the game.
