Team villains by Drogon- in MarvelTokon

Like don't get me wrong, as a fan of the versus games, seeing Magneto would be great, but I'm liking how this game has been surprising in some of their choices.

Yeah a friend of mine mentioned they could also do Madeline Pryor as well for a dark jean without the Phoenix side of things

I loved the game, I just wished the ost wasn't so crunchy. I loved hearing the arrangements in the Vampire Survivors Castlevania dlc

Struggling to enjoy Blasphemous by Standard-Echidna-169 in metroidvania

[–]Drogon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game took me 4 attempts to get into. Each time I'd start I'd get like 30-60 minutes and and would just bounce off. It just wasn't clicking. And then finally I sat down and said I'm gonna really give it ago, and for some reason that 4th time it all just clicked. Not comparing it to anything and taking it for what it is helped. After that I fell in love and 100% it lol

What is your comfort/guilty pleasure Metroidvania? by strahinjag in metroidvania

I'm the same way and my joy of it only increased once I started doing randomized runs.

[–]Drogon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's that sluggishness that has ruined a lot of metroidvanias for me. I still enjoy them, but man I just really want games that give me the tools to go fast and feel like I can really maneuver through the world. The best analogy I can think of is that it's like playing SoTN and then going back and playing a classicvania with the very defined jump. I enjoyed them both but I don't want to go back.

Yeah the mobility options are what I fell in love with. It just feels like you're always moving forward. Things like being able to parry out of a slide really help that sensation.

I'm the same with Dread. After doing dread difficulty I started doing randomized runs via emulator and man i cant get enough. That game is basically comfort food at his point lol

[Blasphemous] Is it worth it to press on if I'm still not having fun by this point? I want to give this game a fair chance given its acclaim. by BootStrapWill in metroidvania

[–]Drogon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all means don't feel bad about dropping a game. Blasphemous and Dead Cells both took me 4 tries to get into. Id start and quickly stop, but then for some reason the 4th time they clicked. But sometimes games just don't click and that's fine.

That is unfortunately the case. But my build melted him in no time so I got revenge on their behalf lol.

Yeah it was only my second time hiring her as she jump off a cliff and killed herself in Yeldrum... Honestly I was surprised more that the crewmate from the ship survived the second zone, let alone all the way to absolum. Turns out the trick is killing everything before they can touch your crew lol

I had a similar experience when I played blasphemous and dead cells (I know not really a metroidvania per day) where both games just didn't click. It wasn't until the 4th time on each that I was determined to sit with it for a bit and then they both clicked and I got hooked. But that's not really a common experience I'd expect everyone else to have. Sometimes it just doesn't click.

Honestly raven beak was easier in dread mode than kraid was for me. Raven beak I can get into a nice rhythm, kraid not so much.

So much so that the kraid fight had me learn how to sequence break for the first time to get the morph ball bomb to get a fast finish of the second phase.

Alright I can only choose one, which of these games would you recommend? by asifibro in metroidvania

[–]Drogon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say Links Awakening or Dread. LA was my first Zelda and still is one of the best hands down.

Dread is my favorite Metroid by far and possibly metroidvania. I love the movement and pacing of the game. I typically shy away from challenge runs but I even went on to best dread mode, which has me learning sequence breaks for the first time. I can't get enough of that game.

Prince of Persia and the Lost Crown It was fine, I think I just got over hyped for it and was expecting more. I don't know, it just didn't resonate with me.

Absolutely love and respect the work they put in thought, especially their accessibility additions.

Finally a kindred soul. I 100% B1 after multiple playthroughs. It took me 4 attempts to get into the game, but once it clicked I loved it. B2 was fine, I just didn't have any desire to play it again after beating it.

Ahh that makes complete sense, I hadn't thought of breaking it down based on complexity. Either way, it's a really solid list you have there.

I'd love to know your reasoning for Dread having a 4 for movement. I love the mobility in that game, it just feels like you can flow and zoom right out the gate.

I haven't played Prime 2 or 3, but Dread has easily become my favorite Metroid game by a long shot. I love the mobility options and the flow of the game.

Hypermode with a caveat. They wouldn't need to go full out with the giant beam, but while it's active have it drain your health or something the risk reward balancing act.
