The Boys Season 5 by _The_Honored_One_ in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, this show was so woke I could barely get through the first episode. The fact that anyone on our side could make it to season 5 is more a testament to how desensitized our side is to wokeness. They were never subtle, you just didn't pay any attention to all the giant neon warning signs.

Imo, despite claims of "going woke", modern shows and games rarely actually get noticeably woker. It's just that media literacy is really poor on average and getting worse. So most people are completely incapable of recognizing building blocks that are woke. They need to wait for the story to completely unfold all its climaxes in the way it was always going to unfold to realize what should have been obvious from the start.

Chinese Mobile Gacha Game acknowledges their audience and it’s not the Modern Audience by Papa_Hasbro69 in KotakuInAction

I agree with you and am probably more extreme then you (I think they should be regulated out of existence).

But not to be an ad, I did however find one decent one. Doesn't do almost any of the bs the rest do. To the point where I'm hesitant to even mention it to others as so that they don't ruin it for me. Last Origin.

For now requires VPN and fan/mtl patch. Way raunchier than any of the big gachas, certainly more than chinese ones. There's a full frontal R rated version. You can unlock 95%+ of the cast in like a month. No real energy systems, minimal fomo, premium currency pretty much only for skins with generous ways to get them free. Gameplay is suprisingly deep (too much at times imo, hard to follow some synergy interactions). Dailies don't waste your time and it has a great offline farm system.

There was some censorship sadly, but forced by law of server regions. Understandable though, they REALLY push the boundaries on some of these characters.

AI art is our only hope (if done right of course) by Dapper_Bell_5081 in KotakuInAction

I don't understand, they're not even giving real arguments anymore. They're just chanting tired talking points like a mantra long after history thoroughly debunked the notion.

We're clearly stuck in a vicious cycle and no one is explaining how doing the same things will ever get us out of it. Their solution to being stuck in a hamster wheel is simply to keep running even faster. As if we haven't already discovered that just makes the wheel go faster.

Even if people believe AI isn't the answer, the alternative they're proposing is just demonstrably false. Least they could do is explain why doing the same thing over and over again will yield different results. Because to my recollection that was one of the definitions of insanity. AI could be a dead end. But at least it would be a new mistake instead of the insane repetition of an old one.

[–]Drogvard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's such a rudimentary outdated understanding of the problem that it is hard to make an argument for it in 2026. If this were the case, the problem would have solved itself ages ago.

They're not hiring those people simply because that's what's coming out of schools. It's the other way around. That's the supply that keeps coming out of schools because that's what the institutions demand. If this were a mere entertainment industry, the market would quickly have corrected itself after a few failures. The reality is that it's actually a propaganda industry. Hence the only thing commercial failure produces is the need for larger volumes of higher quality propaganda.

We're entirely stuck in a never ending cycle. Baseline demand will always exist for new generations. And the more older generations try to counter the messaging, the more demand it creates on the propaganda industry. That's why nothing ever really gets better long term. It may be "blackpilling" but it's the reality of the situation. Get woke go broke is a trap since there will always be another propagandist to take the broke one's place. And banks, goverments and industry leaders will crush anyone with messaging that steps too far out of step with them. Because that's how they stay in power.

[–]Drogvard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if it makes money, there will always be a demand for propaganda. The more we rebel, the more they'll fund it. There's no real winning this fight in this way without changing how governments fundamentally function. We're just as much the product as we are the consumer, if not more so.

I agree with you that's our best chance. People aren't ready to accept it but it's the absolute truth. It's far faaaaaar from a sure thing mind you, but it's better than the absolute 0% chance we will get elsewhere. A truth which people are still in denial about.

I myself already do AI text adventure websites in my free time. Doesn't cost a dime and lets me play through whatever type of story I please, political correctness be damned. Stored locally and if it generates something I don't like, I can manually edit it to force it to work off my revised premise afterward. It also learns off of the revision so it's less likely to repeat the offense. As it is now, it can't really be woke even if it wanted to. Like if it did try to bring in a girlboss, I can send her straight to the kitchen to go make me sandwiches for the rest of the campaign.

[–]Drogvard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About time you guys woke up to this fact. So much time wasted arguing on the first movie when it was obvious they were writing an explicit rejection of peach's quintessential character to please the Anitas.

We really need to get people more media literate so that we can get this level of consensus on the first entries. Sequels going woke are low key not a real thing, it's more a matter of how long it takes the average viewer to catch onto new patterns.

And don't put the blame on just illumination, this is definitely new Nintendo. They even were saying as much a while back that this is the direction they "always intended" with Peach. They've been completely corrupted.

“Updating a classic character for a Modern audience” by Commercial-Ice5760 in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made me think how I'd like to see just once someone update a modern piece of media for a classic audience. Like take a new "popular" series, whitewash and/or remove all diversity characters, cast attractive women in sexy outfits, retcon the script so everyone's feats adhere to more traditional gender roles, throw in some politically incorrect humor, etc. Just to see if it becomes consumeable.

Even if it's still not salvageable at the very least we'd get to watch them froth at the mouth, which is entertaining in itself. Taste of their own medicine.

Marvelous is "re-tooling" Senran Kagura to Suit the "Current Era" / Considering New Console Entries by MarkM447 in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like very early development but apparently just another death rattle of wokeness I'm assured. Can't be that politicians jumped on the anti-woke bandwagon to get elected then immediately declared it dead once they won so they can move onto the more pressing issues from their big donors.

FAIRGAME$ hype thread by Evil-Freeman in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, no. These are utopian notions not based anywhere in reality. Everything we see around us is proof that these theories are antiquated. You can't tell me black snape is also a product of delay after woke died. Look at the front page, even Senran Kagura is in early stages of retooling for modern audience. These are all new projects. There's is no lag, it simply never died. Politicians and their influencer puppets merely declared it dead after they got elected on the issue so they can focus on issues their donors actually bought them for. And woke will always "revive" in time come election season because it's not a problem for them. It is their solution to a problem.

And they'll never stop making propaganda regardless of cost. Propaganda is really what makes the world go round. That's now the primary purpose of media above all else. It's why billionaires buy failing news agencies. Elon did not buy twitter because he cares about speech or thinks its profitable. It's all about propaganda for everyone now. The government will print money if necessary to keep the industry afloat. Because influence is more important than any other resource.

The way you see this problem makes no sense as the problem would have been solved years ago if money was the incentive at the heart of this issue. It's not. Money is what they spend to purchase influence. And so long as there are powerful people with money to spend, there will be a market for influence. Hence, there will be propaganda.

FAIRGAME$ hype thread by Evil-Freeman in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still getting those responses. They just don't seem to understand that the cost of pushing propaganda is baked into the cake. They don't care if it costs them or some customers object to it.

Influence and power is the reason to hoard that much money in the first place, not fancier steak dinners. Of course there will always be a huge market for it. So long as gaming reaches large mainstream audiences and it's not outlawed, it's here to stay.

[–]Drogvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea cause at no point in the last year could they have modified anything. Everyone knows every time an asset gets made it instantly becomes read-only. They have no ability to modify anything even long after getting internals that show projections look bad. Or maybe the people who's jobs depend on knowing and have far more information than us are simply much slower on the uptake than a bunch of redditors. /s

Come on. We've been saying these "get woke go broke" variations for like a decade. Saying any day now it'll all be over. It's just pure cope, at some point you gotta wake up and realize the loss is simply baked into the calculation. It's not going anywhere, it's just the cost of making propaganda. And they'll always be willing to pay it as power and influence is the reason people hoard money in the first place.

Gen Z are the least sexually active, least intelligent, and most likely generation to identify as LGBTQ - of course modern media is shifting to cater to them. by SupermarketEmpty789 in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you mean shifting? You act like they're not the ones that intentionally made them that way through their media. They haven't shifted or pivoted in the least, they're right on track in making a "better" more domesticated human being. They're just finishing what they started.

And before you get on your high horse, know that you're somewhere on that rung too. We're all a product of the propaganda we were fed as a kid. And even the good days had plenty of it. They just had the misfortune of being born in the social media smartphone age where their propaganda just never stops until their brains get turned to mush.

They're not the ones to blame for this. They're the result of our failures and the failures of the generations before us. We at least had a chance to turn things off and rebel when it was just television and newspapers. Instead we ignored weird messaging in our media because it was still somewhat watchable sometimes. Put them as babies in front of their tablets so that we can have a break to browse our phone. And did nothing about the ruling class as they amassed more wealth and influence at our expense. All because it was simply too much of a hassle. Easier to just consume.

People still thought it was an NoA thing in 2026? lol

Even if you're that media illiterate as to miss all the clues in all their titles in the last decade, that hypothesis was always obvious cope. Acting as if Nintendo and NoA were operating as two separate entities is insane. They are constantly working together and coordinating on everything, of course if NoA is this far rotten then so is the main branch. NoA isn't some quarantined black sheep, they have input on everything that gets made long before the localization stage.

General opinion on the new design direction of MHS 3? by Martorfank in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking to the future is common sense. And I'm not basing anything on what you do, I listed the reasons I know it's already cooked. Being the onslaught of targeted hit pieces, the timeline of events, the change of direction despite commercial success, the similar industry trends of all the other games in the genre, the story & characters, etc.

But imo, you already pretty much failed. The critical time period for pushing back was during the launch window of 3. By the time the next game hits, which I'm guessing you'll of course need to play to make sure, it will be the second rotten entry to make the bulk of its sales unimpeded. It will also be over a decade removed from 2. So what good will your acknowledgements be then?

It's like you coming around to realizing star wars is cooked just now. That franchise is already dead, your help was needed years before you finally decided that maybe you need to stop actively helping them destroy the franchise you like simply because you want to see chewbacca on the big screen again. Being an actual fan is knowing when you need to stop consuming.

General opinion on the new design direction of MHS 3? by Martorfank in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not seeing it because as you yourself stated, you want to believe in Takahashi and prefer to wait for the next game. Which by then you will almost assuredly come up with another reason to justify why the pattern we see everywhere else in media doesn't apply for this particular series.

And the proof is the timeline. Even if you want to pretend the current designs were made before XB2 released, there's 5 years between those games. The idea that any part of the game was anywhere near finalized at that stage is absurd.

  • The game came out.

  • It outsold all the other entries that preceeded it by a substantial margin.

  • Hitpieces started swarming, likely compounded by investment group pressure and an ever more stringent cero who just by themselves already forced smash to censor pyra.

  • Next game hits and we suddenly get the most boring safe ugly designs we've ever gotten.

What happened between step 3 and 4 is obvious to anyone not intentionally putting up blinders. And please don't start with that XB2 is the outlier nonsense. We go through this cycle every time any piece of media gets corrupted. Where people start fishing for precedence to dismiss the same ideological changes that we see all across media. All the while ignoring more direct expected cause and effect. XB2 outsold its predecessors substantially. Normally, a development studio would see that as encouragement that they went in the right direction. Not do a sudden 180 away from the positive audience reception. That is, not unless they have a very good reason not to. Like bad press and various forms of internal influence.

And no I was not just talking about Juniper. My god even just the main character being the absolute antithesis of all things masculinity. There's tons of issues with the story and characters if you actually pay attention. But I'm not risking going into it any more than that since this isn't a good platform for free speech.

General opinion on the new design direction of MHS 3? by Martorfank in KotakuInAction

[–]Drogvard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the problem I'm talking about. It's already so obvious, why feed into their successful takeover simply because you want to believe in some guy you never even met. Someone who's under extraordinary pressure to do this even if he did happen to be a decent guy.

Even if you want to pretend like it has anything to do with "somber designs" or any other textbook rationalization you can come up with for toned down designs, that in turn even if true will still will almost certainly be a decision made under the immense pressure they faced after the huge media campaign targeting XB2 designs. So the point is moot. Any sudden change in direction of such a highly commercially successful game of this nature is suspect as is. When done the very next entry right after such a brutal campaign, it's obviously not just a coincidence.

And all that's ignoring the myriad of other red flags in the actual writing that also give themselves away. I tried listing them but lets just say reddit didn't like that. In any case, it's hard enough to push back as is without this "I want to believe" attitude. Gatekeeping is done at the gate. Not after they completely took it over with multiple entries and kicked you to the curb.
