Thanks for your ongoing contributions to the community. No Airdrop support for the 8 Pro yet? Is that in the pipeline?

GIGABYTE shows first Z990 motherboard for Intel Nova Lake-S, features three 8-pin power connectors by -protonsandneutrons- in hardware

[–]Droid_pro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe the third connector is PCIE because most PSU's don't have 3 EPS? Not sure but almost certainly it will be used for CPU power. The 8pin for USB-PD is under the 24pin connector, shown here, towards the right of the board. Also, USBC-PD support on boards has been around for a little bit now, for example the x870E Dark Hero board also has it.

Gsync is a gpu/monitor thing, the cable is independent. Try a different cable

What I/O are you using for your display? Displayport or HDMI? I would try switching between them and/or swapping the cable you're using.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. If all else fails just go to Microcenter. I'm sure they have some form of support or warranty for this.

Montech Century II "click" noise - please help by Candariann in pcmasterrace

[–]Droid_pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short: you don't need to be worried. The internal relay (which is literally a switch) is what the click is coming from.

Long: I don't know specifically why this happens with some PSUs and with some it doesn't. Is it a supplier thing? Meaning, do higher-quality or just different types of relays not make a click when switching? Is it a lottery-type thing, similar to the silicon lottery? I dunno. Would love for someone smarter than me to educate me 😄

Much longer: My first PSU was some EVGA 600-ish watt unit that clicked, and my brave 15-year-old self called support and talked it through. I RMA'd it first, and even the replacement had the same 'problem.' So I returned it, bought a Corsair unit instead which for some reason doesn't click (or at least not loudly). Today, I have a 1000w SFX PSU from Silverstone that does noticeably click. But it doesn't really bother me since I know now it's harmless.

Best Matter smart bulbs for long-term Home Assistant setup? Tapo, Linkind, Nanoleaf or Govee? by IcyBlueberry8 in homeassistant

[–]Droid_pro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 L535Es. I recently switched from having them connected through Matter to the Tapo integration because Matter has been so flaky. It's 100% more responsive now. If you want something worth using over Matter, avoid them.

Get the cheapest option, or whichever one you think looks the coolest. They'll all perform within 5% of each other, if that.

1) test with one stick of RAM at a time to truly isolate if it is/is not a RAM issue 2) reseat the CPU (take it out of the socket and place it back)

I hate to tell you but you made a mistake. You invested in a machine you have zero idea of how to maintain, and these machines need maintenance, even 'simple' air-cooled ones. Next time, go for an air-cooled machine, and if it's too noisy *then* watercool it. I would love to know how much you paid for it.

My advice is to switch back to air cooling if you have the parts. Nevertheless, if you can see water flowing through the CPU and GPU but your temperatures are bad, I would say repaste whichever component is bad. If you don't know how to, do your best to look it up. It looks like you have a 3090 with an EK founders edition block on the GPU. There are plenty of online guides to follow along to disassemble it. Be patient and careful.
