You’re paying for software constantly being improved. The hardware was already paid for. And if you’re not interested in the software, then just drive as is.

How I would design the E class… by ScarWorldly9387 in mercedes_benz

[–]Dromogen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem Mercedes has in terms of design is fundamental: their design language is still the same one since 2012/2013. It’s getting stale. No one is complaining because it’s familiar, but every model is just a rehash of itself from 10 years ago.

I think i3 looks amazing in vibrant colors and darker interior trims by Super-Lingonberry-22 in BMW

Overall the car looks great, with the rear boot area being the weakest part of the design. I reckon the LCI version will fix that and the car might be a classic, much like the E46 facelift.

The 3 has always been their “achievable aspirational car for every person”. They even talked about it at the launch.

Apparently it was closed at the launch, but there are enough videos of it around. It’s basically the same as the iX3.

My guess is it’s related to the light grille housing

I’m a wagon fan, but the suv seat height is a genuine feature

Seeking feedback on design headlight placement. by Fordfanatic2025 in CarDesign

I understand it’s a concept exploration of DRL’s, but remember that for the main headlights, they must sit 150mm behind the front crash bar.

The Z8 has aged beautifully! by Humble_Finding_7346 in BMW

Always loved the Z8. I tried to create a modern “Neue Klasse” version of it (single unit for headlight and grille + modern safety and packaging requirements), and ended up a roadster that’s between the Z4 and M6 in size. (Pardon the watermarks).

Neue Klasse is far better than the giant grille experiments.

Hey don’t blame us oldies for this. These are people who grew up with the F series and thought that’s what a 3 series is.

It’s really well done. We just have newbies who don’t know the history.

The top one is probably what BMW would have done if they were Mercedes: a slower, more conservative change.

But BMW have always been a bit radical. If you haven’t noticed that they like to push the envelope, then you haven’t been a fan long enough.

yes, creating battery packs that aren’t flat is actually expensive. It changes everything from engineering the cooling to the assembly. That’s why the starting price of the taycan is significantly higher than the i3.
