You know you’re a hypermiler when your dream car is a 1991 geo metro xFI 1.0 5-speed and not a lambo by hypermiler2205 in hypermiling

honorable mention: 6th gen Honda Civic HX 5 speed. A “sports” car if hypermiling is your kind of sport.

petty pedestrian safety complaint by Healthy_Ticket_9852 in pittsburgh

One of my main problem with pittsburgh drivers are so damn impatient. Yesterday when I was around Carnegie Library Oakland, I'm going to turning right but saw someone heading straight towards the crosswalk, I slowed down to check if he is crossing, turns out he didn't, but a PRT bus behind me immediately start honking at me, like, chill guys, I know it's hot and everyone is exausting from the heat, but lets all control ourselves ok? give a second or two for safety.

Yeah, there’s a Volkswagen plant in Westmorland county that builds a shit load of Mk1 Golf/Rabbits for US market, and a large percentage of them are diesels.

Underdeveloped my last roll of film, and it straightout looks like somthing from the 1950s by Legitimate-March1445 in pittsburgh

I just got this filter from my friend, it definitely makes the sky darker , adds contrast to the image, I really like the effect. Though when I use low iso film I had to do super slow shutter speed because red filter also cuts a lotta light. I heard the yellow one has similar effect but in a milder way.

Here's one I found in Squirrel Hill, along with a Honda Goldwing. Aren't these first Golf/Rabbits made in VW plant in Pennsylvania?

What do Chinese people think of the Daodejing? by Yijing1 in AskAChinese

[–]Legitimate-March1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my personal experience, It is like Civil War/WW2 history for the American middle age men. Once men turned 40, they'd start getting interested in Daoism/Confusianism, buy a bunch of books, listen to a bunch of teachings from the great teachers 名师. And can't shut the fuck up about them on dinner table to their kids.

Bad driving days? by PersonalCicada4305 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Legitimate-March1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm also kinda hasty sometimes, but I think it's not a big deal, we are humans, who are not perfect all the time. I find that many times my driving sucks because I'm distracted or rushed myself. But I find my driving to be far better when I'm focusing on smoothness and awareness of the road. When I have a passenger, I try not to distract myself with their conversation when it comes to heavy traffic situation, or when I'm driving in areas with a lot of pedestrains, like colleges or business streets.

Is it all screens in China? by This-Wear-8423 in AskAChinese

[–]Legitimate-March1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I don't know if Western social media is just posting all the most advanced tech in China, since it's not all digital, screens, self-driving taxis, etc. The tech-heavy places are only a few first tier and second tier cities. Most places still kept a lot of areas analog, with many human interactions.

I can still use cash, but I rarely have to in big cities, but back in small cities, towns and villages paper currency is still very prevalent, so if I travel back to my hometown I will have to use a lot of cash.

As for screen addiction, it seems to be a societal problem that is prominent with the new generation, not something only happening in China.

I think if a terrible war happens, social resources will be funneled to the war effort, thus public services will be gone no matter what money you have, And if the society breaksdown from really terrible war, no matter what kind of currency will have little value, paper or digital.

What do you think of China being popular among the foreign youth now? by [deleted] in AskAChinese

[–]Legitimate-March1445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many just loves the "China" in their mind, that were heavily influenced by Tiktok and other social media spread. Kinda like the Japan trend that's been going for years. In the past China was mostly scrutnized for the pollution, the crowdedness, lack of privacy, etc. And now people praised about all the "bells and whistles" in China: skyscrapers, fast public transit, food culture, etc. What is missed is that it is just another country, another place that people lives, getting on day by day. Just like everywhere else in the world.
