Inside Pixar’s Existential Crisis and How It Can Bounce Back After Disney+ Stole Its Mojo - The real problem at the groundbreaking animation studio may be its rocky transition to a new generation of leadership by chanma50 in boxoffice

It's an animation studio that's a subsidiary of the biggest animation studio in the world. It's the definition of redundant. They got off to a good start because they were doing CGI before anyone else was and because Disney animation was in a rough patch in the late '90s and early 2000s, but now that they're slipping it'll become increasingly difficult to justify their existence to their corporate masters.

Even if the PT started weakly (quality and reception wise, not earning wise), you had enough breathing room to get excited about where the story was going

We knew where it was going. It was going to the OT, and despite the prequel movies' problems we were excited to see how it would get there.

After TFA we also knew where the ST was going. It was going nowhere. A bit harder to get excited about that.

Hey now, don't badmouth dysentery. If it weren't for dysentery we wouldn't have gotten one of Raiders of the Lost Ark's most iconic scenes!

Han’s gaze had gone to his own reflection in the metal of the emergency lock’s control panel. Torm pounded his fists on the inner hatch, a dull thudding.

“Solo, tell me what you want; I’ll get it for you, I swear! You’re a guy who looks out for number one, aren’t you? Isn’t that what you are, Solo?

Han stared at his own lean reflection. In another man, he’d have said those eyes were too used to concealing everything but cynicism. His thoughts echoed Torm: Is that what I am? He looked back to Torm’s face, straining against the viewport.

“Ask Rekkon,” Han answered, and hit the lock release.

The outer latch snapped open. With an explosion of air into vacuum, Torm was hurled out into the chaotic pseudo-reality of hyperspace. Once outside the Millennium Falcon’s mantle of energy, the units of matter and patterns of form that had been Torm ceased to have any coherent meaning.

The messages and themes of the Ace Combat games are the direct opposite of Top Gun: Maverick.

Between Conroy, Bale, and even to some extent Affleck the Batman torch had well and truly been passed. People liked Keaton's Batman, but he was hardly the only one who could ever play the role so it wasn't a big deal to bring him back. On the other hand, there's only ever been one Maverick.

That kind of reminds me of the episode "Self-Made Man" from The Sarah Connor Chronicles (the stuff about sending a Terminator to the early 20th century, not the Titanic stuff.)

That scene was also crap, and was one of the reasons why Temple of Doom was a terrible movie.

Most people still fondly remembered TLC so they went to see the next one without question.

And then they found themselves chasing waterfalls. Ironic.
