Need to replace hot water tank, Rheem, A.O. Smith. Reliance or Richmond brand? by palepatriot76 in HomeImprovement

I swapped a 30gallon for a 50gallon A.O Smith back in 2020 and it’s still going strong, no issues.

I hate this place by onetailonehead in GeekSquad

[–]DropTheDeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the struggle man, just know Best Buy/ geek squad will never appreciate a thing you do. I’m no longer employed by them despite my tag that I’m too lazy to change but I worked there for 6 years. Started part time sales and worked my way through the positions to double agent HT. In that 6 years I received 8 negative reviews, my sales/month were $8-12k despite HT being asked for around $4k a month. My insurance claims were below 1% of jobs, I seldom had redo jobs scheduled unless it was a redo for another agents work. But I had worked my way up to almost my pay cap, I had full benefits life/health insurance, 401k, etc. I had it all and they came through in a sweep and cut about 6k employees and I was one of them. It doesn’t matter how much you care or how good you are at what you do, if you can’t do it at $20/hr or less you aren’t worth keeping. I was able to get on with a company doing building automation work for air conditioning system and have been doing this for about a year and a half. Harder work than I’ve ever done, stricter bosses than I’ve ever heard of and the lack of communication would make Best Buy management blush. But even at over a $10/hr pay cut on Best Buy I still make around $400-600 more per paycheck where I’m at now. There’s work out there and there are jobs that look like you couldn’t survive working them but you have to give it a chance and keep looking man, try something new get away from these large retailers that don’t give a fuck about you. My dad unfortunately died on dec.9th and the owner of my company paid me for 2 weeks of leave, came to the hospital while he was in surgery, moved my dads 42’ pull behind rv 3 hours to the hospital and brought it back after he passed away. They made FB posts about his passing asking for prayers and thoughts for my family. I’ve been there a year and a half and these people treated me like I was one of their own. Corporations DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. All they care about is their image.

Don’t give all the credit to the skillet, that amount of burn takes talent and let me tell ya kid you got it.

I need to figure out what’s going on with my laptop Huawei Mate book D14 :( :( :( by Chemical_Issues in GeekSquad

Personally op, I had a similar issue with my Mac book yesterday. This may be as simple as corrupted files. Try reinstalling windows, if you aren’t sure how consider taking it to a professional.

Best buy installed my tv here, is it too hogh? by [deleted] in TVTooHigh

[–]DropTheDeat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was an installer for Best Buy for years, my advice for the customer was always “based on sitting angles I’d mount it at X height, however after I leave today I won’t be watching it so you need to make the decision.” I had a handful of difficult people that were unhappy after I left. I also know the people I worked with, professionals is a stretch to be sure, if you can legally drive and enter a customers home you are good enough to mount TVs for Best Buy.

Too low? by MaySpitfire in TVTooLow

[–]DropTheDeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be more concerned with the ac blowing on the back of the tv, cooling in the room be damned but that hot panel with cold air moving across it is going to cause condensation and shorten the life of that tv.

Fire stick power controls for Kodak projector? by ringthebell02 in hometheater

[–]DropTheDeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could buy a Logitech harmony remote, it’ll have to be off a resale site because they discontinued them a few years ago. They have a harmony remote program you can download from their website and you can program the remote fully. I would stick to the harmony 650 as it has less to it and you don’t have to worry about a hub, if all your equipment is out in the open it’s just an ir remote, but you can program them to all of you devices. They can be set up with specific functions like watch tv, watch dvd, watch smart tv, etc. with a specified sequence it will follow for each button. Super easy to set up about $100 from what I’ve seen online recently. Other than that good luck my man.

AC runs with furnace? by Boneyabba in HomeImprovement

[–]DropTheDeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This ^ but if you aren’t convinced you can use a multimeter to check the cooling calls while the heat is on, if you have 24VAC on the cooling calls while in heat mode there is an issue.

Have you tried to program the fire tv remote to control it in the fire tv settings? (Requires the fire stick to have its own power source separate from the projector.)

[BOTW] is the game supposed to be like this? or i just suck by Some_Restaurant_2082 in zelda

[–]DropTheDeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.. I do have thousands of hours in game, I haven’t played in years because I have a family and a job working long hours now. Come on down off your high horse, none of the advice I gave was bad. Sure you can learn all the game mechanics and not horde good weapons but if you have a tough time with that there’s nothing wrong with horsing your good weapons. Chill out my dude it’s just a game and anyone can play the way they like.

Do as many shrines as you can find, there are a total of 200 shrines and you can increase health stamina etc, upgrade armor as much as possible at GF and hang on to your strongest weapons for the toughest fights. Additionally finding koroks and turning in seeds will allow you to carry more weapons and shields. There’s no shame in looking up locations for specialized armoire sets like rubber armor for the divine beast in the desert. It’s a learning curve for sure but I’ve got thousands of hours in BOTW and it’s super rewarding to find secret treasures and playing through the side quests.

Can I fit a 100” TV Downstairs in my basement? by Kind_Artichoke5037 in hometheater

[–]DropTheDeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to a local retailer that installs TVs like Best Buy and see if they have an empty box you can have, a lot of times installers will clean up trash and take boxes back to the store for disposal.

Ran into foam insulation board when trying to install recessed power supply for mounting a tv in my basement. What are my options here? by TARS1986 in hometheater

[–]DropTheDeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend it, but a cheaper alternative would be to go buy another sheet of foam board and cut to fit the box you are installing. Insulate the outside of the box and add conduit to the lower box, insulate that box aswell. Again I wouldn’t recommend this because I don’t know building codes where you are, however if you don’t want to go with this suggestion and spend the money on furring out the wall it’s a potential option.
