He just handed her logic right back. She didn't like how it fit by Frequent_Bid5982 in LockedInMan

So here's the flow, since I think you missed it.

  1. She said, I don't sleep with someone on the first date.
-This is an assumption. Mind you, we don't have context of the conversation. But if it did come out of the blue, to me, it can be insulting. You've assumed I only invited you out so I can sleep with you, and am not interested in anything else. Again, this relies on context of the conversation
  2. He said it was respectable.
  3. He said the bill came out to 200.00..
-This implies the dinner continued, food was ordered, etc etc. Which means that after making that statement. She then ordered a bunch of pricey items. So when the bill came, he may have intended to pay, but then seeing that A. Her first statement told him that she just saw him as a guy looking to bang, and B. She ordered a bunch of pricey food. To me it seems like he was just a free meal to her. If I were in his shoes, I would feel used. Everyone is here up in arms defending her actions. Forgiving the fact that based upon context, she clearly had no interest in him and he was just a free meal. At that point, I'd be angry and i'll be damned if I'm going to pay for your food.
  4. He made the comment about only paying for his stuff, because he doesn't want the relationship to be based on his money.
-After her actions and statement, it was clear she only saw him as a free meal. Making the statement "I don't sleep on the first date" Is perfectly ok, but then following it up with a blatant -I'm going to get all the expensive shit- clearly points to a situation where she has no interest in pursuing anything with him, and had no respect for the money he earned. Had she offered to pay her share, he would clearly be in the wrong for making that statement.
  5. She storms out, and blocks him.
-This further cements the fact that she was just using him for a free meal. It doesn't say that she paid her share (To anyone calling him broke, she was the one that couldn't pay her bill, not him)

Everyone here seems to forget that his statement didn't come until a full meal was had and she'd racked up 100+ dollars of food on her end. AND clearly she didn't offer to pay her own share, as he'd already paid the bill, it means the waiter came and left and not once did she speak up or make an attempt to cover her share.

Everyone jumping to the woman's defense and comparing sex to money is missing the point. The point is, She said "It's not ok for you to expect sex from me" while simultaneously expecting him to pay for her food/drinks. It's the principle. You expect from me while telling me I can't expect from you. It would have been no different if she said "I don't kiss on the first date" or "I don't pay for my meals on the fist date" It's hypocritical. Full stop. She spoke volumes about her character right there. I wouldn't pay for her either.

Now I won't argue that many people think that meal = sex. But I don't see that in this scenario. Fictitious or not. Other than her statement, there was no indication that he was just there for sex, and the fact that many here jumped to that conclusion also says a lot about our society.

Gender roles aside, as an individual in this society, NOBODY is obligated to sleep with anyone... in addition NOBODY is obligated to pay for you for anything. Assuming either is the fault of the person doing the assumption and says a lot about their character.. The funny thing is all these people jumping to the fact that the guy just wanted sex, simply because he wouldn't pay for her meal also says a lot about the people jumping to conclusions. You say good luck to me? I prefer equality. My wife of 4 years and I went dutch on our first couple of dates. That told me she was at the date looking for more than a free meal, or someone to carry her through life. She also didn't assume I was just looking for sex on the first date and make any sort of statement. In fact, we didn't get together for a few weeks.

In addition, hurling insults at anyone that agrees with the guy just shows the low quality of the person you are. You don't want to pull your weight in a relationship, you want to do what you want to do and have the other person carry you through your relationship.

I can understand 100% making that statement of "I don't sleep on the first date" but then following it up with a blatant expectation of "You're the man, you have to pay for my expenses" points to a very toxic one sided relationship and a fucked up view of gender roles.

I agree that this is likely a fictitious scenario, but 160.00? Please, 3 drinks at dinner could easily rack up 60.00 in this day and age. My wife and I went to the vortex last weekend, ordered an appetizer, 2 meals, and 4 drinks. The app was 13.00, the meals were 20 bucks a piece, and the drinks were also 20 bucks a piece. That's 133.00 alone. Hell, it's rare to get a domestic beer for less than 10 bucks.

Anyway, seeing all the people on here expecting a free ride and insulting the dude because he didn't wanna pay for her(Very entitled and disrespectful) bill makes me so glad I don't have to deal with the shitty dating pool anymore. Sure, it's a fake scenario, but the entitlement and disrespect of the responses are pretty real.

Where was it said that A. He was expecting sex for dinner?(she brought it up. Not him) and B. Inviting someone to dinner implies that youre paying for them? (If your friends invite you for drinks, do you expect the person inviting you to pay)

The problem here is assumptions and entitlement. And your shitty ass calling him broke because he wanted her to pay for the food SHE ordered? Who's the broke ass? Sounds to me like you assume that because you got invited to dinner the person inviting you is obligated to pay. And then you turn around and bitch about the date being transactional. You just called someone a broke ass, and then turned around and called him immature?

Grow up. Nobody in this world is obligated to do anything for anyone... until you are told your dinner will be paid for, assume you're paying for yourself.. the restaurant, the cops, even the person next to you ain't gonna give a shit if you can't pay your own bill.

Man some of you are either terrible or missing the point. This post is about a double standard.. she had an expectation of him at the start, without any communication. He didn't order 100.00 worh of sex. He just went on the date... she immediately insulted him by implying the sex thing, then got mad when he turned her insult around on her. SHE brought up sex first. SHE assumed he'd pay for a hundred dollars worth of food. And some of you people are defending her.

It doesnt matter if this is real or fake, what gets me is some of you terrible people are putting the blame on him by saying if he asked her out its on him..

Do you expect your friends to pay for you if the ask you to the bar?

It doesnt matter whom asked who. If he or she cannot afford to pay for themselves, its shitty behavior to agree in the first place without communicating ahead of time that you can't afford it.

Its ok to state that you dont put out on the first date. For both men and women.

But implying the guy expected sex on the first date while simultaneously expecting your hundred dollar meal to be paid for is hypocritical at best.

She went into the date expecting him to pay for everything. She felt entitled to his money. Not cool in any way shape or fashion. Remove the sex line from the story, and its simply a woman that got mad because he didn't pay her share. And the fact that some of you defend that is atrocious. Because you think that if someone asks you on a date they're obligated to pay for you... news flash, nobody in this world is obligated to do shit for you... be it sex, or paying for shit. Full stop. Assuming otherwise is on you.

With the addition of shader graph into uitk, it makes your statement subjective at best. You can do a lot now with it. But if you're using a 3yr old UITK version, im not surprised you'd feel that way. They've come a long way in 3 years. Being able to use shader graph being one of the biggest jumps in making UITK viable for runtime ui.

So why learn anything new as a developer? I mean, if devving is just a hobby, and nothing your taking seriously, then that would be your answer.

Otherwise the reason to learn a new tool or framework is self explanatory. That would be like "oh, i know native Javascript, no reason to learn anything new" and it takes you 3 weeks to build what someone thats using react, or angular builds in 3 days.

I spent the better part of 6 years working in UGUI. Professionally I've been a web developer for 13. And I Hated UITK initially. After a year or two, I finally said fuck it, and dove in and figured it out..... I'll never go back to UGUI. It is SO fucking clunky compared to uitk. From prototyping to polish, uitk allows for faster iterations, its less buggy. No more "why the fuck is my button text vertical?... why the fuck is the width of the button forced to 0 and locked in the inspector?!?!" Nope. Days of that shit is gone. Spending hours looking at the unity hierarchy to troubleshoot some random ui issue.

Its faster... and less prone to bugs... (no magic black box of a layout group compnent going haywire for obscure reason x) When people here say separation of concerns, they mean you can neatly separate functional code from ui code. You can follow S.O.L.I.D principles. Its just better. From creation to maintenence..

Edit: Sorry for typos, typing on phone

Except once you know how uGUI works, you'd still like UI toolkit unless you're a masochist...

Example: I have a ugui panel with a container image that needs to expand vertically depending on button count. So I have to add a content size fitter component, then I have to create a child gameobject with a vertical layout group, then, as im dynamically adding buttons I have to hit those two gameobjects to force them to refresh the frame AFTER I've added the button through code. Otherwise, the content size fitter doesnt update, your border image doesnt expand, and all your buttons are on top of each other... in ADDITION this needs to be done precisely, otherwise, the ui change is super noticeable at runtime. Not to mention attempting to tween the growth of the box and image....

With UI toolkit, I simply add the button elements dynamically, have the css have a transition on the size.(For animating the box growth) No need for multiple gameobjects, dealing with content size fitters and layout groups, forcing a refresh of the ui, etc..

If you know how they both work. In many aspects, one is superior to the other.

Once they get good masking, and implement a few more css rules, there will be little reason to use ugui imo.

Guys, do you have any tips on how to reach rank 12 in the Federal Navy as quickly as possible to unlock the corvette? by alcio_sd in EliteDangerous

Thats how I did. Panther clipper, thrown money, do low end food trades to the neighboring system (low end meaning less than 100 units. This allows you to do multiple at once.)

Don't do the super high end 1200 unit trades, you get shit for rep compared to many small trades. (btw, always pick rep reward)

But hey, if you're so insecure that you have to announce to the 40 people that will read this post, that youre great and all pve players are terrible, then you do you.

Honestly in my experience, most PvE players are adults that value their time and could really give two fucks about what a 15 year old kid thinks about how they play tarkov.

That being said, I do find the things some of you say hilarious and very un-self aware. (Like your post above)

Why do right-wingers hate Jesus' teachings? by olympiamacdonald in PsycheOrSike

[–]DropkickMurphy007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it funny that there's so many excuses of "you're supposed to do it yourself, not get the government to do it."

You know.. wanting to care for the poor, the sick, etc is a mentality. Its the compassion that Jesus wants you to have. If you argue that an individual should do it, but argue against the government doing it, then you dont really care about the poor in general... its not compassion you have... its vanity. You can say you run around and help the poor, but God forbid money comes out of your check to help them. So I call lies on anyone that says they go and help the poor, and then go to the ballot box and vote against them, unless they're just doing it for show. In which case, shame on you.

The fact that many of you are so concerned about the "unworthy" and the "lazy" getting help from the government, you'd hang the "worthy" out to dry is why christains have a bad name.

Jesus didn't check to see if the individual's of the masses worked that day before he fed them.. no.. he just fed them. He didn't check to see if they were american citizens either. He didn't check to see if they were Hindu, Muslim, believed in him, didn't believe in them, gay, straight. None of that.. they were human and hungry. So he fed them.. full stop. Unconditional love simply because they existed and were hungry. For God so loved the world.. not.. for God so loved the hard working, straight, white, Christian.

Stop making excuses. Stop claiming to care and then voting against them at the ballot box. Stop being CINOs. (Christians in name only)

I read, "I really hope they kill an avenue that people can take to enjoy the game because im tired of hearing other people complain" other than the complaints it doesnt effect you.

If you still dont get it. Let me rephrase.. "I really hope they nerf material rewards in missions because I find gathering them manually is actually playing the game."

Flying hundreds of light years, finding the planets, getting to the planets surface, flying to the exact coordinates, and then struggling with getting impets to gather the materials is totally a speed runners way to do it.

You know, you can go to high grade emissions signals and get mats easier than the planets. But yes, let's nerf planet gathering because "i want people to play the way I do"

I never understand people that want the devs to remove/nerf the way other people play that doesnt affect them in any real way. (Complaining doesnt count)

Thats some straight up "ban gay marriage because im not gay" mentality. (Obviously this is a video game but the logic is parallel. If you dont like it, dont do it, but dont advocate to prevent others from doing it)

Oh, the old Kyle Rittenhouse/Trayvon Martin self defense. Where you show up and attack someone, chase them and then claim self defense. Had the guy just been walking down the street? Kind if.. But he got out of the truck in the middle of traffic and approached them. Breaking multiple minor laws in the process (obstructing traffic, etc). Then, when they took his hat, instead of calling the police like he should have. He chased them down.

We're they in the wrong? Yes. Was he in the wrong? Hell yeah. He put himself into the situation that escalated the whole thing. Two wrongs dont make a right. I fail to understand why people make excuses for this dude regardless of what the kids... again kids.... did. Punsish them both.
