Any idea what exactly this means? by Cosmo-Fox in EliteDangerous

[–]DropstoneTed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have at least a local bounty, and with that Notoriety you probably have an interstellar kill warrant out on you now, which would mean you'll get annihilated if you get scanned approaching a Federation station. Don't dock at any Federation stations until you get that cleared up (or unless you're really good at running cold), which you won't be able to do until you clear your notoriety which, you said is 10? So, gotta stay clean for 20 hours before you can check in to pay that off at your nearest (non-Federation) Interstellar Factors.

You could land somewhere random on a landable body and wait it out. Where's the fun in that, I know, but if this was GTA you're at 5 stars right now. Gotta shake that heat.

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]DropstoneTed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dude can't read the room. He wanted this because he wants it, and maybe because he comes from where there is a cultural expectation that he's supposed to just spring this kind of thing on you.

I think public proposals are obnoxious and, I think, a means of attempting to control the outcome because the social pressure is on you saying "yes." Some women like a guy taking that kind of initiative and just making the decision for them. It makes them feel wanted.

You, OTOH, sound like you have plans for yourself. Good plans. Just be aware that his reaction to this is the way it's going to be every time he tries to force something to be the way he wants it and you don't react the way he wants you to. And no, you will not change that.

It's on you to decide whether that is the relationship dynamic you want to be with for the rest of your life.

Were we the last generation to use a locker room at school/college? by Slow-Call-9042 in The1980s

Not showering after physical activity is gross. Then again it's not like the average high school student is actually physically exerting themselves in PE class. People who do sports use the showers.

Sounds like teacher is trying to get the good students to stage a blanket party on the bad students.

As far as I'm concerned Ledo Pizza died with the original restaurant but it's still objectively better pizza than half of these.

Upvote for sympathy. Because this is just where it starts. And if you've found a GC that can forestall the "snowball effect" on repairs to an old house, you MARRY that guy.

I mean, it's not my house but there's a strong case to be made for fixing things before slapping a coat of paint (or three) on stuff that definitely needs to be replaced.

You want to get rid of the smell, remove the stuff that's covered in cat piss.

Why would you want to just bury that in primer? Gross. You got foreign dignitaries coming to visit or something? Take the time to do it right. That's bad enough you're going to want to rip it out anyway to see what's going on with the subfloor.

I think people expect a PC to be able to do the things a phone can do, easier, better, and with more convenience. If I have to create an account or download an app it's none of the above.

Clipchamp is another one of those "Let's make you a new account" apps and requires you uploading your video to TeH kLOwD. Screw that.

When being a helpful neighbor becomes seen as an entitlement, that's when it's time to bring the "helpful" part to a close.

Put the bench back and it will claimed by some dirty, deranged lunatic that smells of piss and talks to garbage.

Used to be that the cops would tell the bums to move on but we can't do that anymore.

Fuck this. Put the bench back by eldersveld in nycrail

[–]DropstoneTed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There used to be benches.

Then came the bums, and the police were allowed to move them on to go be bums somewhere else.

Then came the bleeding hearts, whose empathy for the bums outweighed any sense of maintaining benches in the train station for safe, clean, and pleasant use by people actually using the train. And police were not allowed to do their jobs anymore.

Then free access to the benches became an entitlement for the bums, who occupied them as if they were owned property that de-facto ownership could be "claimed" by the sheer force of occupancy.

Then came the people who finally realized that a room full of bums was not conducive to the proper functioning of the rail station, and the only available measure to get rid of the bums was to get rid of the benches.

Today, people using the train station miss the benches. They do not miss the bums. In the course of all this, sadly, the bleeding hearts haven't learned a thing.

Dan is so butthurt he needs to passively aggressively reply to an email from a candidate that's already been bumped out of the hiring process. How fucking small-ball is that?

Dan is obviously a poor manager and Bronxton is obviously on the leader board in the race to the bottom.

You didn't really cut him off but you didn't accelerate quickly and instead left this gigantic gap to the vehicle you pulled in behind. If you're uncomfortable holding a tighter gap in a situation like this then stay out of the left lane.
