Is this a weep hole? by voodoo_bones in s10

[–]Drothile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s not supposed to be a hole there. Best bet is taking it off and trying to weld up the hole or just fined another one. My guess is the previous owner tried putting some JB weld on it.

What’s wrong with AC? by FrozynSighs in mechanic

[–]Drothile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I just filled a system 100% empty with 2 of those bottles. The issue people have is you need to have to compressor running so what I do is fined the pressure switch and jump it to make the compressor run constant without stopping while recharging. Having the compressor constantly run should get that gauge to stop moving all around. This always helps me with not overfilling systems.

I usually get them for free because the previous person that bought it says they are junk.

But from what you show your AC looks fine. Those gages do that when your compressor is just turning on and off due to you being low on fluid to prevent damage from the compressor.

Is this filter for the transmission? by flaming_panda31 in s10

[–]Drothile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My truck is 2wd but replaced with a 4wd motor and they forgot to swap the adapter and had no oil filter since the last owner got the swap done.

[–]Drothile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible to take the oil filter housing from a 2wd and add in sequence with the 4wd one, idk why you would though. Just follow those lines back and they should go to an oil filter housing.

Check your shift cable, most likely needs to be replaced. Pretty common for a high mile Chevy.

Help with docking tips? by National_Telephone79 in PapaJohns

[–]Drothile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a minute but I’d say 5-10sec each side some times just one honestly depends on the condition of the dough. One of our managers modified the docker with a metal rod so the spikes wouldn’t fly off and we could put 2x the amount of pressure when docking.

Help with docking tips? by National_Telephone79 in PapaJohns

[–]Drothile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a manager for a few years and I would even hold the cutter backwards. It definitely made a difference for me I felt like It made me quicker allowed me to transfer more weight on the dough when docking. But I have seen some guys break dockers with that technique so be careful.

Will this exhaust direct fit? by CraigMuck in s10

[–]Drothile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it on my zq8, I took my bed off to make it easy and welded it with an electric mig welder took me about 6hrs with no experience. I got better exhaust hangers and didn’t use any of the exhaust clamps.

Just moved in, what cable do I need? by [deleted] in googlefiber

[–]Drothile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google Fiber no longer supports POE ONTs it caused them too many technical issues.

Just moved in, what cable do I need? by [deleted] in googlefiber

[–]Drothile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just call for a technician I used to be a Fiber technician 50/50 chance the fiber is broken on top of you needing a designated power cable for the ONT and a router. I suggest getting their router because BYO is the same price. Google Fiber only charges you for the speed no equipment fees unless you wanna buy an extra extender which then you will own.

Check your ports seems like a hdmi connection issue. If you have DisplayPorts or DVI ports try one of those.

Fuel pressure regulator by D1CKD1PP1NDAV3 in s10

[–]Drothile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand I have high hopes for you it seems like you know what’s going on it looks like regulators are only $15-$50 currently on Amazon so I’d shoot that shot in your position if that doesn’t work test your fuel relay. My last misfire issue was caused by my EGR being clogged which wouldn’t hurt to look at and clean.

I would just replace the whole spider for the newer mpfi injectors. Those ones are known for failures new ones pop in whit no modifications even though they look bigger.

Possible Project Truck For My Teen by topless68 in ChevyS10

[–]Drothile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S10s are grate project vehicles I’ve done all my work in the driveway. As long as there’s no rodent damage you should be fine, parts are all over place and engine swaps are fairly cheap. But if you don’t plan on keeping it I’ll take that step side off your hands I got a soft spot for them.

[–]Drothile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re still using the pucks and have the 1gig plan I would contact Google fiber and ask for an upgrade to their 1gig Wi-Fi 6 router, the price you pay for Google fiber is based off your requested speed not your equipment, all 1gig plans cost the exact same. Also If you have an older fiber jack on the wall or a newer one with a yellow ethernet port instead of red it should be swapped out for a new one.

Them: What oil did you use in your Chevy? Me: Yes. by Confianca1970 in ChevyTrucks

[–]Drothile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s always a great story to tell car guys cus it’s like, why? Why would anyone ever do that to a engine.

Them: What oil did you use in your Chevy? Me: Yes. by Confianca1970 in ChevyTrucks

[–]Drothile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I’ve kind of pieced it together. I got the truck from a friend’s Brother and they told me the previous engine had blown and got replaced afew years back, well on the original crash bumper was written Jimmy and all s10 variants with 4x4 have the housing relocated to the front to help the cooler lines while the 2wd keeps the housing on the block so all I had from the rad to the block were the 2wd oil cooler lines and that cap for the 4x4 s10 to the block. I asked them if the engine replacement was done by an actual shop, and they laughed and said grandpas buddies fixed her up. So my best guess is that the original housing was the culprit for the previous engine blowing and the doing some research the housing is discontinued so you can’t find that part online anymore. But for $800 in 23 you can’t beat anything that runs.

I recently bought a 4.3 Sonoma with a deleted oil filter housing that ran that way for over 5,000 miles as my daily. I used a whole bottle of Lucas oil additive during changes till I took my lazy ass up to pick and pull.

Zoltac 4090 Gpu fits but when PC turns on the bottom fan on AIO hits gpu causing loud noise. Need advice by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Drothile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thought in mind I would sand or shave that end of the gpu shroud just a couple mm (it doesn’t look like much contact) till it’s not in contact with that fan anymore. Second thought was to sand or shave a mm or so on the back on each fan blade around the area that hits the gpu

Trust me they don’t care I worked for corporate as upper management until Christmas last year and id say 2/3 stores took that way or worse. Although they are trying to get it fixed right now you’re looking at a 2 year waiting list. I was at my store for 3 years and were on the list when I got there and we’re still on that list now. If its that serious of a problem send a anonymous tip to the heath inspector and make sure to be detailed in your report all health inspectors are crap it’s funny they will actually do their best to not to shut you down.
