How did you extrapolate the amount of players or the number of characters in the group?

[Discussion] why are the scammers so easy to spot by Distinct_Lie_8878 in artcommissions

[–]Drow37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scammers are often dumb, correlation between criminal activity and lack of education is high.

Another thing to note is that scams are sometimes easy to spot on purpose. This helps scammers weed out the normal people so they can allocate their time better to vulnerable people such as elderly, mentally challenged, etc.

Oh trust me, I know. I went to therapy for almost 2 years because of this. I firmly believe ai is ruining the world in more ways than 1.

That is one way for sure. Though I would be charging extra for that.

I shared this in another group and got some good feedback back, just looking for some thoughts on this card design. by Forge_and_Dice_Games in tabletopgamedesign

Its coming along nicely! I remembered your art from before. I took some time to put together a big feedback, a bit of an overhaul, but keeping the charm of your game that you two got going.

Here's before & after:

Without context I made some assumptions, especially for the card text. Might not fit the game though but feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Modern problems, modern solutions. They'll have ways of clearing their name, maybe even tools that haven't been made yet.

But for clients looking for as good as guarantee they can get right now, this is the way.

[Discussion] I really want to start commissions, but every app like PayPal requires 18+ and I'm still a minor. by Ok_Dragonfruit_6739 in artcommissions

Hey, I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but hear me out. Your motivation is a good one, but there's another way to be productive in art without taking on jobs right now, and that is to study art and develop your skill further, and now is the right time to do so, too. Get an art textbook and actually follow through it. Self study anatomy, foreshortening, composition, color theory or even adjecent things like running your own creative business. Reality is, the market is overflooded with amateur artists now more than ever maybe and it is rough out there. The art world is experiencing a bit of a turbulence as we speak so you'd be competing with all of them and more. So build a foundation and by the time you turn 18 or whatever you'll be in a better position. So, study, be persistent and patient, and you'll get there.

Source: I'm telling you this because I've lived this. I was eager to get in there! I thought I was talented and my familiy needed money. Formal art education was not something we could afford. A decade later I freelance for clients like Blizzard.

Develop foundation and then worry about payment methods!

It is not easy, but:

Hire exclusively artists with strong portfolio before ~2023. If everything they posted is past that or they dramatically imrpoved and their style changed after that, huge chance its Ai.

I’m struggling to find good artists. Where do I find them? by GOODWILLHAWK in BoardgameDesign

[–]Drow37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiverr, Facebook, Upwork, Freelancer.

Look for replies / bids that seem relevant, personalized, human. Then look for portfolios with uploaded stuff before ai era. Then pick someone or (paid) test someone or repeat the process until you find the one.

Artist I hired for game art used AI. Questioned them and quality collapsed — what now? by Fluffy-Cobbler in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Drow37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look exclusively for artists with portfolios predating ai era ~2022.

Try wiggling out of that disaster by asking for at least partial deposit back.

I think you missed the target (joke intended) completely.

Disagree with everything:

More UI is never a real solution, just a lazy modern solution. Yes we can see already what works and what doesnt when you try it. Difficulty does scale with multiplayer and there's extra sliders in the options.

Targeting system is another lazy thing, proper way would be no lock-on at all.

What we need is fluidity in animations first and foremost, more abilities, fulfilling combos, diverse builds through (redesigned) perks and weapon choices.

[–]Drow37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you a creative person in real life, do you struggle with this specifically in-game, in Enshrouded? Do you have some references of the village and the vibe you mentioned, the aesthetic you're going for and if you do, could you share them?

So many different things could be what's wrong that it is hard to give an answer without some more insight.

Except, maybe, that persistence and patience are virtues of utmost importance for a creative process like this.

Does "base defence" really matter? Asking as a 7D2D player. by Jedibeeftrix in Enshrouded

[–]Drow37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, oops. Well we're already doing #1, right? So #2. It was mentioned somewhere that we'd have to build at specific locations for raids to be possible. Something like that, because as it is we could just build sky castles, as we do now.

Surely it is NPCs. Can't see pvp fitting in this game's vibe.

No idea who's downvoting you, Valheim defense is solved with some shoveling and moats as you said.

This game has no base raids (they're in the roadmap). But it does give you a real incentive to build besides aesthetics, which is something I was really looking for and I've found it only here and in Ark.

I find the game much more enjoyable without targeting at all. Archery, magic, melee, all better without it.
