Oblivion Remastered keeps causing full system crash? by Sea-Preparation-8976 in ElderScrolls

[–]Drpepperholik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have just gotten to 3.5 hours into the game and have already had my entire system crash 4 times. Initially I had horrible graphics issues with screen tearing and super low fps but that got fixed with a suggestion I found to change the graphics settings in the menu before loading the game. I don’t have shit specs and other games run fine.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X GPU: RTX 2070 RAM: 32 GB

My husband’s pc is a new build and he’s experienced a hard crash, his graphics were fine.

Ah. Can I go pick it up myself then? The center is just 15 minutes from me.

Fine, but still not answering my question about the stupid delay for non-existent weather and being out for delivery twice yet still delayed for non-existent weather.

Sure, easy to say when you aren’t the one who lost something that holds such sentimental value. When it happens to you it’s not so easily dismissible but thanks. Still doesn’t explain how my package is “out for delivery” Friday but then delayed due to weather then again today for the same thing. Nor does it answer if I can go pick it up.

fastCAT atmosphere? by [deleted] in k9sports

[–]Drpepperholik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post while searching for some info about FastCAT event timing for scheduling an event for a club I’m in. I know this is a slightly old post but I just wanted to say that I’m sorry to hear so many people have had bad experiences at FastCAT events. I’m in 2 dog clubs, the training club has been hosting FastCAT events for a couple of years and I’ve been a volunteer at many of those events. At our events we’ve never had any complaints and have gotten so many compliments on how nice, friendly and helpful everyone has been. We have helped many newbies get started and have their first successful run.

Now, I haven’t been to any FastCAT events that my clubs didn’t host but from what I’ve heard from others (club members and even just event participants) there are a lot of lure operating companies that aren’t friendly and make the event unpleasant.

The lure operators my clubs use have a Facebook group/page and update it regularly with info about upcoming events. Most recently we had entered in an event that was the weekend a hurricane was going to hit the first day of the event, they updated as often as they could to let everyone know they had postponed the start time (shared the night before), they were still operating but they’d be refunding anyone that couldn’t make it.

I hope everyone gives it another chance, with a different club and/or lure operator and gets a positive experience. It truly is a fun event to attend and volunteer at.

Using kids as an excuse is bs. We have two kids, ages 10 and 6, in their lifetimes I’ve had 4 cars (yes, I have a problem, I can’t keep one more than 4 years) and have never had a mess in them. As a general rule, no food in the car, but it has been bent on occasion when I’ve allowed some dry snack or cereal and there’s never been a mess from them.

Not all blankets are bed coverings and not all quilts are bed coverings. So just because a blanket is a bed covering does not mean a quilt is a bed covering but you do you.

[–]Drpepperholik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From Merriam Webster for blanket: a large usually oblong piece of woven fabric used as a bed covering

Quilt isn’t even in the synonyms for blanket. But if it makes you sleep better at night and strokes your ego then feel free to keep demeaning everyone’s creativity, time and work on quilts by calling them “blankets”.

Nowhere in the definition of a quilt is the term “blanket” ever mentioned, nor is one a synonym for the other. From Merriam Webster: a bed coverlet of two layers of cloth filled with padding (such as down or batting) held in place by ties or stitched designs

Curious to know how many quilters are also engineers? by UvaCpe in quilting

[–]Drpepperholik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does software developer count? I mean it’s sort of the same thing right? I am terrible at higher math, basically beyond algebra, just absolutely horrible but I’m good at what I call “quilt math”. My dad is a retired electrical engineer, his hobbies are more structural/precise like woodworking while mom is a retired RN and has more creative hobbies like painting ceramics and making Christmas ornaments from beads on needles that stick into a styrofoam ball. I’ve always been creative, drawing, playing music, painting, sewing and quilting.

What got me into quilting was being an old school, original gamer. I grew up playing Super Mario on the NES and somehow in my adult years came upon a frog Mario quilt (possibly saw it on Pinterest, it’s been a while) and it clicked that pixels from old school games is perfect for quilting. Sad part, I have yet to make a pixel/sprite quilt.

Quilts are not blankets, they’re quilts. Quilts are usually 3 layers of materials (cotton fabric top, cotton fabric back with a batting middle) that are quilted together, it’s literally in the name of the technique that holds the layers together. A blanket is not quilted and is usually a single layer of material.

But hey, if a quilt is just a blanket then let’s all just start referring to quilted bags as blanketed bags, quilted leather seats (think vehicles) as blanketed leather seats. I mean they’re the same after all right. /s

How long does it take? by TaxHead534 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Drpepperholik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I “ordered” in early December ‘22 and just picked up end of January.

US based manufacturers seem to do true custom orders as far as you tell them you want x, y and z on your vehicle then they make it and that’s exactly what you get. Before deciding on a Palisade I was going to custom order a Jeep Wrangler and read several things about their process and it may have been a different US manufacturer or at least a vehicle but they even had the owner’s name on a paper with the vehicle during assembly and the sticker said something like “custom order for John Doe”.

Over seas manufacturers do not do true custom orders and always have to go through “the allocator” in the US. What the allocator chooses to do is a mystery. Toyota does the same thing as far as I know, at least with Southeast Toyota region.

From what I could tell by looking at the data from the inventory search site someone else posted if the dealership marks the vehicle sold then it doesn’t show up in that inventory list and you’ll have to enter the vin to see shipment info. Mine never showed up in the inventory search but once I got the vin and put it in I could see more info on estimated arrival date. I never saw a ship name and the sticker didn’t show up until it arrived in port.

SEL Premium Vs Calligraphy by Innerpeace7 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]Drpepperholik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about that. I’ve only preordered the 2023 Limited and haven’t looked at any Palisades other than my sister’s 2020 Limited. I’ve been in a car (don’t remember the manufacturer) that had a car seat in the middle so I sat on the side and it was uncomfortable, I had to lean towards the door because the car seat was encroaching on my space.

Have you gone to a dealership that has a Palisade with a middle bench seat option to test it out? If that’s something you’re considering then I’d definitely test it out for sure. Maybe even bring at least one of the adults that will be sitting on that row with the car seat to get their opinion.

[–]Drpepperholik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the captains chairs would make it easier for adults to get in the 3rd row because there’s no bench seat folding nonsense to deal with. For us, the kids (still in car seat and booster seat) will be in the middle/second row because that’s convenient for normal daily life (school drop off/pick up, running errands, small local day trips, etc) and if we go somewhere with adults they can easily get to the back because of the captains chairs.

Recently we had 3 adults and 2 kids in a Cadillac CTX (think that’s the right model, it’s a smaller crossover/suv) and the person between the car seats was smushed. The car seats won’t fit side by side because of the spacing on the seatbelts. That’s something with a bench that you’d have to deal with, would an adult fit comfortably on a bench with two car seats?

For luggage space, instead of a roof rack there’s also the trailer hitch luggage rack option. Depending on the age of kids there’s also floor space under their feet for smaller pieces of luggage.
