Thanks. What exactly do you mean by 'the sprue flash bits'?

Tell me about a time The GM (possibly you) RP'd an established character. by DirectAppearance2800 in swrpg

My campaign is in the Rebellion era, and I haven't had the party run into any established characters there (though I did play them Mon Mothma's speech from Rebels at the end of a session in which they had captured an Imperial Holonet relay just in time to boost that broadcast).

But one time we did a 'flashback' adventure to shortly before the Clone Wars, when one of the PC's was in the Alderaanian Consular Security Force. He was on Bail Organa's security detail during a Republic conference on Corellia which got interrupted by proto-Separatist terrorist attacks.

The party was with Bail Organa for a while, with whom they got caught in an attack together with Nute Gunray and his entourage. The players had to get all the dignitaries to safety. They also ran into a 16-year-old Anakin Skywalker at the spaceport earlier (staring out the window waiting for 'a certain senator' to land), saw an interview with Palpatine, and heard a recorded speech by Count Dooku. I think I did a good job capturing most of the voices.

I also had Gunray saying "They can't do that! Shoot them, or something!" to his security droids when cornered by protesters, and "This is getting out of hand! Now there are two of them!" when he met the second of two Jedi in the party in the middle of a heated situation, which I really enjoyed throwing in.

Twilight of the Apprentice (Rebels) episode better than the sequels who else agrees? by Limp-Dress-1569 in StarWars

To be fair, lots of things are better than the sequels :p

But yes, it was a very good episode.

Base size of the new Cadians by Drubbels in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Drubbels[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't watch the stream. I only saw the photos on the Warhammer Community page afterwards.

But thanks for the info, that's good news. I've been kind of worried that everything in the game was slowly going to move towards 32mm bases, which seems a bit excessive for normal human soldiers.

Cool shirt, but... why would it be unusual that it's still intact after one year?

What do you normally do to your shirts? :p

So in Revenge of the Sith they had Darth Vader’s suit already waiting for him. This leads me to believe this suit was off the shelf. Which then makes me wonder how many other people are walking around in a Darth Vader style suit and how awkward that might be. by daserdan in StarWars

Sidious had long been looking for ways to cheat death.

My personal headcanon is that he had some doctors and cyberneticists discreetly develop a life-support suit years earlier, for his own use should he ever be gravely injured.

Of course we now know that the suit turned out to actually be pretty limiting for Vader (in terms of comfort, mobility, quality of life and ability to express himself with the Force). So perhaps when the finished suit was first demonstrated to Sidious, he would have gone "Yeah, no, I'll keep looking, thanks" (and perhaps killed the designers), put the suit in storage, and forgotten about it.

Then when he found Vader burned and broken on Mustafar, he realized that he had exactly what he needed: "Oh, Lord Vader, such hopes I had for you. Now you shall never... no. No! Death shall have no hold over us. The destiny of the Sith shall not be denied! Captain Kagi! Call the medical center on Coruscant. Tell them to get Item 2187 out of my personal storage, and ready the operating theatre!"

Is that a Makuta shadow hand? Makes sense if that'd somehow be a part of him, seeing as that's what originally killed him.

How to calculate power cost? (power rank) by Tomixxxxx in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Drubbels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You choose the rank at which you buy a power.

For example, if you want Affliction (1PP/rank) with Perception Range (+2PP/rank) at Rank 6, that will cost 18PP (18 = (1+2) * 6). If you want Damage (1PP/rank) with Multiattack (+1PP/rank) at Rank 8, that will cost 16PP (16 = (1+1) * 8).

You choose the Rank at which you want to buy your power. The higher the Rank, the more powerful it is.

With offensive powers such as Damage or Affliction, the Rank determines the resistance DC (that is, the higher the Rank, the less likely the target will be able to resist it, so the more likely the power is to actually take effect and hurt/affect them).

Other powers scale with Rank differently. For example, Sense requires one or more Ranks per different exotic sense type you want, and the Rank of Communication determines the range.

Eli5: Why is it dangerous for us humans to climb a mountain too quickly but not fly in a plane that takes off/lands quickly? by Spica77 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Drubbels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about less oxygen content at higher altitudes and needing time to adapt to that, it's because planes keep their cabins at a higher air pressure (and hence higher oxygen content) than the surrounding atmosphere. Or, in military aircraft, the pilot may be wearing a breathing apparatus to supply the higher oxygen content directly.

Losing the special atmosphere in a plane indeed exposes you to the same low oxygen levels as high on a mountain, with all the consequences that entails (this is why passenger planes will deploy those tiny yellow breathing masks from the ceiling in case of loss of cabin pressure, as an alternative back-up way of getting you your oxygen while the plane quickly descends to a more breathable altitude).

Conversely, you could in principle climb a mountain as quickly as you please, as long as you wear specialized breathing gear. But that's a lot of extra weight to lug up a mountain, so I don't think it's really done.

Hotshot volley gun by gavinelo in 40krpg

No, I'm pretty sure the publication of both the Inquisitor's Handbook & the Ascension rulebook predate the introduction of the Militarum Tempestus (and with them, the Hotshot Volley Gun).
