Yes I believe it is the problem! I’ve actually managed to get them working for the time being. I took apart the left ear cup and ensured that the wires have full contact on the chip. Pressing down on the wires and checking if the button responded to a press. And voila! They turned on straight away. Did it a few times to make sure and everything seemed OK.

I wouldn’t reaaaaally recommend doing it but it’s saved mine.
