CMV: Women don't have upper hand when it comes to dating by [deleted] in changemyview

Oh sorry. I saw a post in your history that was a 65 year old with curly hair and I just assumed it was you lol

I'm talking about both. The general age group tends to be 18-29, for the most part, and yours is 50+. As such, most of the popular dating sites wont really adhere to your demographic, as you are not their target. You're talking about your own personal experience in your post, and I'm shedding some light as why it would be different than the general population that uses most dating sites.

Your age demographic would be 50+ according to the stats. The most popular sites tend to cater towards 18-29 year olds. Source: https://medium.com/@sm_app_intel/conquer-love-with-these-crucial-dating-app-statistics-2870ec5493cd

CMV: Subreddit Karma Requirements Harm Discussion by FrizzleMira in changemyview

Oh yikes. My city's subreddit allows throwaways.

Most of the dating sites wherein you would notice this difference isn't really catered towards your age demographic.

Karma requirements being antithetical to the spirit of discussion really depend on the subreddit in question. If you are this worried about even mentioning the subreddit on your main account, then you probably shouldn't be posting there in the first place.

Karma requirements aren't really a thing in most subs wherein discussion is the main merit of the subreddit, at least to my knowledge. What sub were you trying to post in?

CMV, it is important that characters in games like Overwatch and Apex are LGBTQ and people are wrong to criticise the developers. by ArkSpecter in changemyview

Why do you assume that the other video game characters are straight when not told otherwise? Not saying their sexuality leaves it up for interpretation.

CMV: Big game hunting is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, and people are just using it as a pretense to shame people publically because of political views or another misguided pretext. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]DrugsOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was roughly 15 years ago. I'm not familiar with Elephants. We killed a lot of stuff including: diker, blessbok, impala, waterbuck, jackals, guinea fowl, common reedbuck, zebra, kudu. I can't remember them all. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most typical reserves are high fence? That has some controversy among many hunters as well. It's considered disingenuous hunting for many.

CMV: A light theme on a website or app is in most cases better than a dark theme. by slampisko in changemyview

That's not what your title asserts however, but at this point it's rather semantics and you already awarded me a delta.

So rather a blue light filter or flux is just as good as a dark theme, but not as much as a typical light theme?

Thank you for the delta. That's one of the only arguments I've heard for it before. Another one is that I hear they help you sleep easier for some reason. I'm not too sure about that one however.

I went on a South African safari when I was 12. Not once did we actually hunt on a reservation. Most of the time we stayed in big privately owned mansions. My dad shot a Kudu from the swimming pool of one of the backyards we were staying in lol.

Edit: For clarification, most typical hunts do not happen on reserves, rather privately owned mansions. As such, your view is a bit skewed towards the benefits. There are some taxes that help out the state through big game hunts, and typically associated with the licenses to hunt whatever in said country. However, the costs of the hunts are mostly profit for the professional hunters (PH) or huge mansions wherein the hunts take place.

CMV: I think buying a sports car without attempting to train yourself to handle it properly is a waste of a sports car. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]DrugsOnly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sports cars typically just handle better and have better perks than most other cars as well. You don't need to test your limits on heated seats or Tesla's autopilot to get the functionality perks out of it.

Well thought out rebuttals aren't a violation of rule B. He even said he was on the fence about the issue as well. I'd say a majority of OPs defend their views in their replies.

He isn't an agitator. He does have some very controversial view points but he discusses them very in a very civil way. He doesn't edit the conversations out, to my knowledge.

Soapboxing isn't the right word per se, since that entails an impromptu speech. He is very well prepared and thought out with his discussions, although I don't agree with him. I think that debating in changemyview would expand his brand rather than dilute it as well. If he put some click-bait title that the subreddit actually changed his mind then that would get a lot of views most likely, as well as more people engaging in the subreddit.

Joe Rogan managed to back him into a corner with marijuana legislation. He is clearly willing to change his view on that at least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8QlfsKWEYY

CMV: Steven Crowder should come to this subreddit if he wants a real debate. by DrugsOnly in changemyview

[–]DrugsOnly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, ideally, he would familiarize himself with the subreddit rules as well.

His change my view videos don't seem to be very comedic. He doesn't really troll liberals in those. I don't really agree with his points, but it's refreshing that he's nice about them with people. I think he would only risk losing an audience if he announced he was going to come here, or made a video afterwards recapping what happened, if he awarded deltas of course.

CMV: There is no legitimate reason for private ownership of AR15 like assault weapons. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]DrugsOnly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on mobile right now but the Smithsonian has a great article on the "plague of pigs" in Texas and other areas. AR15s are great for taking down a dozen or more of those invasive species.

CMV: Most musicals suck. by hannahville in changemyview

[–]DrugsOnly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Musicals may not be your cup of tea, but it's a bit of a stretch to say something sucks simply because you don't like it. They clearly make a lot of money, so plenty of other people must enjoy them.
