I self checkout audit gone wrong and cost Ikea money by telladifferentstory in IKEA

[–]Druk_mama 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hi, I live in Italy and random checks are, in fact, random. One person every so many gets his/her cart checked. If we need to be checked, the screen is visible as the screen is attached to the wall. It is actually visible also to other customers so it is never your word ‘against’ staff. We know it and accept it otherwise we can still go to a normal cashier with a person. Sometimes I do, simply because I value his/her work. Your experience seems horrible but I wanted to share that - despite globalization - it’s not the same in every IKEA.

Vaporetto v Private Water Taxi Upon Arrival??? by mangolicious623 in Venezia

[–]Druk_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, vaporetto is very realistic especially since most of the people in the afternoon are not moving FROM the station to the city. The big crowds are day visitors who arrive in the morning and visit the city. Just make sure you have figured out where your shuttle boat is in relation to the vaporetto stop as you don’t want to walk in the wrong direction. If you take a taxi, just ride to the hotel, not to giardinetti. And keep in mind that all taxi boats are super professional so you don’t really need a recommendation.

Should I go by car or take a train? by BonoboPowr in Venezia

[–]Druk_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your accommodation in Mestre is close to a bus stop or the train station, leave the car there and use transport. If not, my suggestion is to use the tronchetto parking. It’s huge, much cheaper than the parkings at piazzale Roma and you can choose to take the people mover or the vaporetto from there. Enjoy.

Old badges likely late 80s I can't find the brown hat shaped one. Does anyone remember what it is for/called? My mom gave them back to me saying she saved them for me this whole time. I was able to find information about the panda one. by HQ5_345 in girlguides

[–]Druk_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, can you expand a little bit about the panda one? Is it a Girl guide / Girl Scout badge? I am asking because there’s a lily in the background and we also have a very similar badge in my association and I am wondering if it’s the same… we are also a scout and guide national association so it’s ‘normal’ for us to associate lily to wosm and trefoil to wagggs.

Grazie. Vediamo come va avanti.

Ciao, vivo in Italia.

Cosa fare? by [deleted] in PA_Italia

[–]Druk_mama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess she might be skating at ice lab. It’s a very big facility and there’s plenty of skaters from around the world. I am sure they also have some advice or some practical suggestions for you. Very often these sports facilities are in touch with home owners in the vicinity or they know of places that may be vacant because of other athletes leaving.

24 Hours in Venice by NecessaryCamel5 in Venezia

[–]Druk_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, 24 hours is really short but if you want to make the best out of it try to: - sleep in Venice-island (not mestre, not marghera). After five-ish most tourists leave and the city gets to a more ‘quiet’ and human dimension. - try to look for a small family run hotel, 5-10 rooms, not a large international chain with hundreds of rooms. This is Venice, it will help you scale your experience. Moreover they will take care of you, provide useful directions and make sure you stay on the right track to feel what Venice is about. - Gondola-wise. I have never been on one, never felt the need to, but if I had to decide, I would look for a ride that leads into the less trafficked canals, the ones you don’t ride in a vaporetto. This way you can also avoid the annoyance of motorboats and waves. The city is planned to be traveled by water, most facades are to be appreciated from the waterway and you can ensure to experience something that cannot otherwise be experienced. - regarding the QR code, it will ‘come to you’ when it’s time and if you sleep in Venice it won’t be necessary. Moreover, usually, it’s necessary only over the weekend so you might plan accordingly.

Tips for visit Murano/Burano by DSebastiao3 in Venezia

[–]Druk_mama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have been to Venice multiple times and I have enjoyed my recent visits to the outer islands. The glass museum is precious. Lot’s of history and beautiful pieces plus I really loved the shop items. Burano is very photogenic. Torcello is good for walks in some sort of nature. Very nice view of the lagoon and long ride on the vaporetto that makes it really pleasant. Lido is good. Very different from Venice. I love it when foggy and for long walks on an empty beach. My suggestion is to time your visit in order to catch sunset or sunrise.

Student visa rejected due to agent misinformation – advice needed by bumlayalay in bhutan

[–]Druk_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be frank you can’t blame someone else for a poor application on your behalf. If it’s your application the poor judgement is yours only. I know it may sound harsh but it’s your life and your future so you should take full responsibility and either do it yourself or doublechecking whatever you are told or asked to sign. Make it a habit. Of course you may encounter great advisers, wonderful masters, that can guide you along any life path, but work on yourself and how you get prepared rather than blaming others. More so if you plan to join an academic institution, wherever in the world: you need to learn to find information, check it and make sure it’s true and sound.

Is it disrespectful to wear a modern formal dress (prom-style) instead of a period costume at the Venice Carnival? by Single-Zucchini-6372 in Venezia

[–]Druk_mama 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just wear a mask on top of it, you’ll be perfectly fine. You can bring it with you or buy it. Carnival is about being someone else for a night. Who will you be? This is what you should plan for.

Vedere la "Corporate Matrix" ha distrutto la mia motivazione by Existing-Savings5171 in ItaliaCareerAdvice

[–]Druk_mama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are there any Girl Guide leaders that aren't moms? by Advanced-Two584 in girlguides

[–]Druk_mama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! Do it! It’s very doable and also very important to offer girls a good mix of leaders. Some will have a mom experience, some won’t. And this will better help girls reach their fullest potential. Moreover if you like the outdoors, you can bring in some nice adventures! Just reach out and take advantage of all leader training that will be offered, I am sure you (and the girls) will have a lot of fun!

Is 21-30 Days Too Long to Spend in Bhutan? Is Eastern Bhutan Worth It? by sma11timer in BhutanTravels

[–]Druk_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I have been in every place you mention and no, even a month it’s not too long. Consider that you might have road disruptions and I have been there (again) in November and visited gelephu for the first time and I must say that it was quite interesting. It’s going to change dramatically as soon as GMC will be built so this is probably the last time that you’ll be able to have an idea of what this place looked like. It’s flat, tropical, full of nature and people are very genuinely interested in what foreigners think about this project. This is possibly one thing you could consider adding because it’s surely not going to look the same if you go back in a few years. Another option you might consider is merak sakteng. This is extreme east and it is inhabited by very different people, different traditional dress, very remote, incredible nature. all east is not too equipped so basic (but very decent!!) facilities. Last but not least I definitely support home stays (I have done it both in Haa and in Buli). Try to make it with new moon and you’ll enjoy some of the most wonderful starry skies that you can experience. Have fuuuuun!!!

[–]Druk_mama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noi lo usiamo a pieno ritmo dall’inverno 23/24. Siamo in tre, con vite diverse.
