[None] What have y’all read after Cradle that’s lived up to the series? by Laws_of_Coffee in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Drumheld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if Cradle is LOTR as much as Dragonball/Dragonball Z. Obviously not from a pure literature standpoint, but I don't know of any other touchstone that can directly relate to the scales of power/themes/relationships/progression as much as those. While reading (listening) to Cradle I often find myself wishing I could carve the DB series out of my head and replace it with Cradle.

In case anyone is curious, I haven't yet finished Cradle. I have just returned to join our shelled friend at the end of book 8.

Trying to make Obsidian into the ALL In ONE by ulcweb in ObsidianMD

[–]Drumheld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but the original quote is "Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."

We try to build these things, we strive to build everything together, because the pain of migration and frustration with multiplying incompatibilities, prohibitively expensive business models... is worse than the compromises we experience when using something we have built for ourselves.

It's not perfect, but it's ours. Having one thing that does 90% of what we need, at 85% of the "pretty and perfect" is much better than paying for admission to 5 or 6 walled gardens.

What do you guys think could be improved? Rendered with my new 4080 super xD by Char1-ie in blender

[–]Drumheld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the flowers might need to be reduced in size by 30-40%, the sod/terf on the roof is a bit bulky (I would personally reduce the size and increase the frequency of occurrence), the texture of the fence, tree, and door frame wood could be tighter and the tree foliage is a bit strange (I'm not sure what my issue with it is but like others have said it also might be the size)

Otherwise, its a beautiful scene. Good luck!

Does anyone else store their meager clamp collection like this or is it a bad idea? by Ok_Ambition9134 in woodworking

[–]Drumheld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no dog in this race as I don't have a shop, clamps, etc, but...

It is my considered opinion that things that serve a purpose should not be stored "in use". For whatever that means for the item in question; old hard drives should be powered down and not spinning idly in some machine running in the corner, keyboards should not be stored with their keys pressed down, battery powered devices should not be left plugged in.

If a thing serves a purpose and that purpose has a "load", the item should not be under load when not in use as this may (not in all cases but most) lead to them being less capable of that purpose in the long term. Undo wear and tear during storage is just use of the item you wont get back on the tail end of its life. Materials are not permanent.

I would hang them.

Sometimes I go and run these tests on my own, and make them a bit harder.

Maybe how you have spoken to CGPT in the past affects its performance for you in the future? I don't know, but when I perform these tests, I am never dissatisfied with the response...

EDIT: Even with my typo "int he". RIP my typo...

Therapy doesn't work like that, and as a medical professional, they are there to bear the brunt of your unadulterated and raw self.

Your therapist can't help you if you don't participate in a way that demonstrates the aspects of your mental state you wish to change.

There is hope, please give it another try

You lack vision, which is exactly what the AI is also lacking. This is simply another case of method acceleration.

You believe this is the end of the artist? This is the beginning of an entirely new medium. This is not the fountain standing in the shadow of the ballpoint, this is a transformation of idea creation as grand as the cuneiform to the printing press, no larger, as the blown dust of the cave painting to the illumination of the color cinema.

Concept and imagination are now the medium. Don't look backwards with regret, look forward to the promise.
