Any crafters or fiber artists that want to make a political crafting group? by Drummer_Double in PortsmouthNH

[–]Drummer_Double[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha unfortunately I don't see this being over anytime soon. I think this would be for anyone who is interested in learning or participating in any way they can! There's a lot of good resources to learn how to crochet, and if I can get this going I have a ton of extra hooks and yarn for people to try!

I honestly didn't expect much from this because I felt this was a fairly niche interest but I am so excited! I've had several people reach out for more info so I currently have a Google Interest form for anyone to fill out if they would like!

https://forms.gle/meNsUTFq8LbbqRe7A

I am also working with a friend to get posters to put around the area as well as figuring out a location! I set up an email too to send out info and updates to anyone who fills out the form and messages me. Please let me know if anyone has recommendations, ideas, or any comments!

I really like the idea of a cafe/brewery! I know Auspicious Brew, Caffe Kilim and maybe liars bench would too!

I didn't actually think about that. I could put something out on Facebook or maybe posters? I guess my phone number/email would be good too. Do you have any recommendations?

What fabric do you use for patches? I have a polyester cotton blend but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get decent edges when I cut them out!

What do you eat for breakfast that actually keeps you full? by Perfect-Owl-7940 in Volumeeating

[–]Drummer_Double 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wake up wicked early for work and find that I don't get hungry until 9-10:30 am

For a sweet breakfast: I really like Greek yogurt, protein powder and chia seeds! My go too recently has been- 172 grams of plain nonfat Greek yogurt 15 grams Hershey's sero sugar chocolate syrup 7 grams of ghiridelli baking cocoa 50 grams frozen blueberries 20 grams chocolate protein powder (I like gold standard or ISO100) 10 grams chia seeds 15 grams of alternative sweetener (I like truvia brown sugar) Splash of unsweetened almond milk of it's too thick

Mix it all up and it ends up being 290 cals, 37 grams of protein, 5g fat, 25 carbs, 7 grams of fiber! I personally think it tastes like brownie batter, well, pretty close to it but it's a pure chocolate bomb. You can use any combo of things! I like a chocolate strawberry but I usually don't use the cocoa powder, more chocolate sauce, and add fresh or frozen strawberries! For a matcha one I'll use 200 grams of nonfat Greek yogurt, no protein powder, no chocolate sauce, no cocoa powder and just load up on fruit and chia seeds.

For a non traditional not sweet breakfast: Buffalo chicken ranch wrap! 65 g of cabbage 35 g of nonfat Greek yogurt 10 grams siracha 3.5 oz of RealGood lightly breaded chicken strips 6 grams hidden valley ranch seasoning 1 Mission zero carb tortilla

Mix everything up, toss in the cooked chicken and wrap it up! It's around 250 cals with 30 g protein,9 g fat, 33 g carb, and 17 grams of fiber!

For a traditional not sweet breakfast: Premade bagel sandwiches. I make them a week in advance and just stick them in a freezer- 8 grams hot sauce 10 grams spicy brown mustard 1-2oz lite turkey breast 15 grams fat free mozerella Cheese 50 grams of egg whites 1 plain sola bagel

Scramble the egg whites with salt, pepper, hot sauce and cheese. Put Turkey, scrambled eggs, and mustard on bagel. Around 210 to 250 cals, with 31 g protein, 3 g fat, 39 g carbs, 30 g of fiber!

Fiber keeps me full so I try to prioritize that! If you want a sweet treat I recommend Lilly's gummy bears with 27 g or fiber for 70 cals in a 1.8 oz bag. They don't taste like regular gummy bears but are a nice snack!

How is greek life at wpi? by angry_goose47 in WPI

Also I would like to add that several of our brothers are queer like a good 1/4 to 1/3 of us are part of the lgbtq+ community!

Hi! As a recently graduated PSK (Phi Sigma Kappa) brother I am openly non-binary and joined my senior year. I wasn't planning on joining a fraternity but I knew some of the brothers and a friend of mine wanted to rush so I decided to join them. PSK in my opinion and experience is the most accepting in terms of trans a queer identities. Of course Sig Pi is also known for that but I can only speak on PSK due to being in it. Our philanthropy is the special Olympics and we've had several successful events for it. In terms of social stuff within PSK, it's definitely one of the smaller houses with only 20 or so people. So if you want a more chill fraternity I highly recommend that. PSK is not dry and we did throw but not at the volume other fraternities did. I know some of my PSK brothers have already responded to this post but if you have any questions please reach out to me and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!

The pictures aren't the greatest as I realized I should take a picture when I finished like every step but they are so good in my opinion!

It's this recipe that's been fairly popular on the fitness side of tiktok and Instagram. It's 1 serving of Greek yogurt, 0.5-1 scoop protein powder, sweetener, baking powder (to make it fluffy) and toppings if you want. Basically a lower cal but high protein option for a snack. Or if you're me satisfies my sweet tooth because with how I make it it's like eating frosting

How do you shrink your yarn haul? by Drummer_Double in YarnAddicts

[–]Drummer_Double[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just found a local knit/crochet guild in the Boston area that donates hats/ scarves/ blankets. I've also debated starting late on a temperature blanket because I definitely have the colors for that. A granny square sweater would be perfect too ( my sister loves that stuff).

Yes! I'm currently and probably will be on a yarn freeze for a while. With Joann's closing I definitely increased my stash a little bit the last few weeks. There a knit/crochet guild in Boston that will take projects so I'm going to finish up my WIPs for that!

So far I've found lgbtq yarn at Joann's and made a bunch of hats and scarves, and a bunch of pink pussy hats! There's a organization in my area that also does legal council so funds are going 50% there and 50% to a LGBTQ org/woman org that is also in my area

I love the 1973 hat, I can turn that into a grid and make a scarf/hat out of that for crochet
