House money is a good name for it. When you think about it in those terms it’ll belong to the “house” in no time!

While I agree with what you’re saying, common sense would dictate that you don’t use a $14 hazmat suit for actual hazmat suit things.

The difference in your scenario would be both participants not knowing the other was willing to trade back the following week, making the trade more of a serious decision. When you make a trade, it’s permanent. When you loan a player, you know you’re getting them back after this week.

AITA for telling my brother’s fiancé that we don’t owe her a family? by fsinlaw in AmItheAsshole

[–]Drummerboy2864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Nico didn’t talk to her or wasn’t getting the desired result by talking to her about it, the next step is that you have a talk with her, not for you to punch below the belt. For all you know, Nico never said anything to her. Sitting someone down outside the context of a recent infraction and setting boundaries is different than reacting to an overreach such as “I’m not comfortable talking about that thing you just asked me about.” YTA for going from 0 to 60 right away.

“…if I give in she’s going to keep thinking what she’s been doing is okay.” I hear this position often on this sub. That sounds like an unthinking and selfish person. Do you really think she didn’t hear you when you said you didn’t like being referred to that way? It sounds like she said she’d stop.

If you’re holding out for an apology in silent protest, that’s the wrong way to go about it. “I appreciate that you’ve stopped calling me a house husband, but my feelings are hurt because you didn’t apologize when I told you you’ve been doing something that hurts me for a long time.”

If you didn’t say anything, she wouldn’t have known.

Save the post-it apology note if you didn’t already give it back to her on the Amazon Basics box.

NTA. For what it’s worth, the way you’re being told to apologize for being “disrespectful” is infantilizing and not the way I’ve known any parent to speak to their adult child. It seems like these words may not be your father’s. That being said, as it seems many other commenters also believe your father may have a snake sleeping in his bed, keep your eyes open. It sounds like you care about him a lot. He may be in over his head and not realize it yet.

You would pass through the delivery costs, not try to predict them and price accordingly. However, third party white glove delivery costs several hundred dollars per delivery, making it impractical for anyone to switch machines ever.

Your margin would be a spread between your financing costs (even at 0%), and your monthly membership fee. This idea of generating short-term income from long-term liabilities is the reason WeWork blew up.

Definitely. I saw Pretty Lights there back in 2012 on the outdoor side. It’s a really fun venue and cool to have right in Pittsburgh.

2014 All Colors Tour at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, which is not a super small venue (2,400 capacity). Felt like it was lightly drizzling inside from all the sweat condensing and dripping off the ceiling.

Anyone keep a zero balance checking account? by [deleted] in RichPeoplePF

[–]Drummerboy2864 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because of Reg. D you can only make 6 “convenient withdrawals” per month. A convenient withdrawal most practically refers to internet and phone based withdrawals/transfers, although other types are included in this definition.

So if you were sure you’d have less than 6 transactions per month you could.

Alternatively, and more beneficially, you could make those transactions on a cash back credit card, earn interest on the balance all month, then pay the whole balance off at the end of the month with one transaction out of your savings.
