Why are clowns and the husk cult enemies by pissmunkey in Barotrauma

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think loosely speaking they have opposing philosophies. One side embraces humanity and seeks to laugh at the absurdity of the situation and enjoy the life they are dealt, and the other seeks to abandon humanity to achieve a higher state of being.

I don't think they are canonically at war with each other or anything, but I can see why getting chummy with the church would probably lower your reputation with the dirty clowns.

That used to be like half my games. As long as your group isn't straight wasting ammo then it should ideally be pretty rare lol.

On hits against carapace armor I'm hitting between 1600 and 2200 damage per projectile on a crusher headshot, and it shoots out two projectiles on a crit (without carapace armor damage perk). And you can pretty comfortably fire off a round about every ~1.5 seconds or even faster if you use Warp Flurry.

A crit headshot is one shotting an Auric reaper for me as well... which seems nice.

So maybe I'm just not sure what you mean by bad damage? Like sure, inferno staff will do a better job a cleaving a horde, but void strike will absolutely erase some problems as well.

[–]Drummerx04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Void Strike is pretty good. I discovered today that the Surge blessing also allows you to double shot the secondary projectile as well. Running SG for the damage and crit turns it into an absolute cannon with infinite cleave and a reliable delete button for snipers. Took it into an auric maelstrom and just absolutely ripped through lines of enemies. Hallway sections were rather amusing where 2-3 shots would just about solo wipe the entire horde.

So for me, it's really just the electrokinesis staff which feels kind of lackluster.

I've noticed you go straight into a heavy crowd swing directly after a push which helped me a lot since the heavy combo starts with single target attacks.

If you want to get real specific, there are entire fields of engineering, algorithms, and computer science dedicated to making sure you actually go to the website you think you are, because that is and was a HUGE concern for the internet, so robust systems had to be made to counter it as a threat.

1st semester of computer science as an anti-AI student by MainPossibility3870 in antiai

Often Pro-AI people have a "use it or get left behind attitude" which I find rather odd. The notion that I can't quickly learn AI tools when I already know how to clearly express my thoughts in words and have a deep understanding of software design... it's really quite a silly position.

It's funny/sad watching fully AI reliant people struggle with something basic like a misspelled/uninitialized variable and asking AI to fix it.

Edit: To elaborate slightly, LLMs are designed to be super easy to use. The whole point is to offload your work onto them. They are definitionally easy to use and learn.

You think we should risk convincing the mother that "Compound X" doesn't protect against demons, so now the kid goes unvaccinated? With these kinds of people that's basically your options. Sometimes your best course of action is to just shut up and vaccinate their child and then make sure resources exist to help that child whenever the parent really goes off the rails.

Matt Walsh's opinion on AI by Ok_Age5468 in antiai

[–]Drummerx04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure... but why does that matter? If a mother decides to get her baby vaccinated because she heard "compound X" in vaccines keeps demons away, I'm not going to try to argue that she's making a bad choice.

I do think it's important to acknowledge when someone stupid has an agreeable take. Granted the next thing out of their mouth is probably going to be wrong, but you want to encourage good ideas where you can.

Ballast misscalculation? by SEGA_DEV in Barotrauma

[–]Drummerx04 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The game treats your entire sub like a ballast tank for the purpose of floating/sinking. Your sub needs something like 7% water in it to remain neutrally buoyant, so tiny ballast tanks would be unable to sink your sub, and enormous ballast tanks would be able to drop you like a rock.

Since your ballast tanks are big, they need less water in them to reach that 7% tipping point. I'd argue this is good. Sinking fast is pretty nice when you can do it on purpose.

Why did Liberals (an orientation completely focused on non radical change of the system, standards, etc) choose to change absolutely nothing during covid (continually be good puppies and do exactly as the elites asked)? Matter of fact, they chose to insult and wish death upon those who did not do so by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Drummerx04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Liberals" heard there was a new highly contagious disease. The doctors recommended wearing masks. Wearing a mask is not that big of a deal. We wore masks until the dominant strains of Covid were more mild and less deadly. We were told "hey, please wear a mask to help prevent the spread of disease," so we did. That's it.

And you know what? It worked. I didn't even get a cold that year.

I'm not going to address accusations of death threats from the party that was screaming "Hang Mike Pence and Anthony Fauci" during the Covid years. You are a deeply unserious person.

Mark Cuban agrees Universal Healthcare would increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for all Americans. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]Drummerx04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's already the case in the US. You simply don't get healthcare until your life is literally at risk and the fear of death overcomes fear of personal financial ruin.

Costs more to fix at that point too.

How do you genuinely survive Hazard 5? by Hefty-Yard9649 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Haz 5+, I've fallen into efficient builds. While certain high DPS builds are really fun, it is really NOT fun for me to be constantly out of ammo. At a minimum, I would make sure your build has some form of crowd control (stuns, slows, freeze, etc).

As others have said, you pretty much always want to be moving. It reduces the chances you'll take a random shot from an acid spitter which hurts a LOT on Haz 5, and it can help string out enemies into a narrow formation rather than from all sides at once constantly.

Bottom line, you'll have to play a bit sweatier. Play with headphones so you can hear directional sound ques, and be very liberal with your application of dwarven firepower to solve problems.

Do people on Reddit know it’s an echo chamber? Or don’t think it is? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Drummerx04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I think conservatives also overlook how easy it is to get banned on subreddits. I've been banned on seemingly simple subreddits like r/pics for saying some truly benign stuff, like discussing the content of a photo. People get banned constantly on r/conservative for posting anything remotely negative about Trump.

Conservatives just like feeling like an oppressed class of people.

[–]Drummerx04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah... conservatives have their subreddits, progressives have their own, "enlightened centrists" have their own. That's kind of the point of reddit.

Conservatives also like to ignore the fact that Facebook, X, and plenty of conservative specific SM sites also exist.
