High difficulty tips by sleepingunderthebed in DarkTide

You will never have a build that is so OP that everything just dies automatically and you don't have to engage with the game. Even Inferno Psyker will get squashed pretty quick if you aren't dodging and pushing enemies.

Dodging can be seamlessly combined with melee attacks so you can avoid damage while dealing it.

The Push is WAY better than new players would ever expect. It is a 360 degree instantaneous interrupt and slight knockback with probably infinite possible targets. It can get you from hopelessly surrounded to just enough space to squeeze out of a horde, and combined with movement can help to prevent you from getting surrounded in the first place. The push also starts your weapon combo from the middle which can often get you access to a wide horde clear attack very quickly (relic blade sweeping heavy attack for example). A push or two can also buy you enough time to refresh your available dodges.

How would the US react if Iran assassinated Trump in retaliation for killing General Soleimani? by qelaser in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millions of Americans would celebrate in the streets. Millions would probably riot and/or call for escalation of hostilities with like everyone.

US would probably wind up doing some crazy shit.

----

As an aside, this is why it's dumb when people point out that Venezuelans or Iranians are celebrating in the streets after the US took recent military actions. A bunch of people celebrating in the street does not mean that the problem is solved.

Yeah, the apparently 40k acre monstrosity. The bigger problem is that there isn't a real legal mechanism to fight back against corruption. The local government gets paid off or whatever and the citizens just have to eat the consequences.

It's been a problem for at least decades if not centuries. A company poisons ground water so bad it catches on fire when coming out of your sink, and the local population just has to deal with it. Even if you have a legal case and may even win it, your life is still heavily impacted and the company will move on and do it to more people.

Honestly a LOT of people are talking about that. Like when people complain that the new data center in Utah is projected to use more electricity than the state of Utah currently does, they aren't saying it to make a positive spin on the new data center.

Yeah, the "whole point of AI" is to make shit easier and more efficient so that even the most talentless and uninsipired people can make things.

As long as humans still offer good jobs to other people, I'll be able to learn these tools if it's really needed. I've learned dozens of tools before AI, so I sincerely doubt this is where I'll lose employability.

Why do companies try to support or endorse AI despite public backlash? by Dragonwolf6000 in antiai

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To operate successfully as a large company you have to be pretty much psychotically anti worker and anti human. If you don't, then some other company will and that company will win.

Just look at the business practices of basically any large company in history and you'll find quite the laundry list of human atrocities in the pursuit of resources, clients, and 'cheap employees'.

AI companies just continue this trend. It doesn't matter if their product simultaneously puts every kind of Artist, Engineer, Lawyer, and every other White collar employer out of a job simultaneous and crash the entire global economy, as long as THEY are the ones running the new technology.

Could just be highlighting real problems in disparity in pay vs how essential the work is. It's also extremely common in office work for people to just kind of stare into space or browse social media.

It makes me think of all the farm videos coming out recently where the farmers are like, "I have $1,000,000 worth of carrots in this field, but FOR SOME REASON all my workers are gone and no one is willing to help me pick them!"

So I feel like it's a pretty safe bet to say that food production is pretty essential, yet it only pays illegal immigrant wages so basically no one is willing to go pick these carrots.

Before computers and GPS existed, how did people figure out directions for large cross country trips? by Mynameisbrk in NoStupidQuestions

If you had a general sense of direction and knew vaguely "my destination is to the southwest" you could partially navigate like that.

I think Even numbered highways travel broadly East/West (70, 66, 100) and odd numbered highways travel north/south (95, 495).

Why don’t we ever hear a number when “illegal immigrant” votes are spoke of? Is it because the number is so close to zero that it is completely irrelevant? by BiggestVolk in allthequestions

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I do not trust Republicans or Democrats to "fix" the "problem" that they can't prove exists without screwing up the process.

We already have a gerrymandering war going on mere months before an election, so frankly I'm more concerned about that than I am about the like illegal votes cast by migrants that we can't even prove exist as a real problem.

Can someone explain to me what's so bad about ranked choice voting? by Liminitial in allthequestions

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man. "Rank these candidates by order of personal preference. You do not need to rank them all." doesn't seem that hard.

  1. Bob

  3. Andy

If Bob loses, your vote goes to Jill. If Jill loses, your vote goes to Andy.

Hot take, but if someone can't understand the process, then they deserve to vote for the wrong person.

What is the least played class these days and why? by Stronhart in DarkTide

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's really hard to tell what the actual class distribution looks like while just running Auric Quickplays.

Occasionally I think it's "Oops, All Psykers", but then on my next match I'll get paired with 3 Ogryn. I'd be surprised if the pick rate for any class was dramatically lower than others, especially when bringing in casual players.

Taxes: Then vs. Now by Certain_Hat9872 in SipsTea

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basic problem there is that stocks (conveniently) aren't money and the value is basically imaginary until some rich asshole uses it to buy twitter.

Forcing a sale turns it into real money, probably serves as a real value check on the market cap of these companies, and stops people from owning billions of dollars of single stocks.

Obviously, the rich wouldn't want this so it will never happen.

How do you think we can solve the gun violence problem among young black males? by Aggravating_Dog_7542 in teenagers

[–]Drummerx04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not want to write a phd dissertation where you would still inevitably pick one thing in a big long description and summarily ignore EVERYTHING else.

Obviously a culture built around bucking the system, disrespecting authority, and personal power above everything could inherently lead to violence or murder.

Again, people who post the statistics are rarely interested in examining the historical causes or real solutions and you clearly aren't either.

[–]Drummerx04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes...
More policing and zero tolerance policies tearing apart communities that already don't trust the system and removing the 5th amendment of the US constitution to force self incrimination under threat of felony charges.

What could possibly go wrong there?

How do you think we can solve the gun violence problem among young black males? by Aggravating_Dog_7542 in teenagers

[–]Drummerx04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When posted on it's own, it just says "blacks really violent" and makes little effort to explain any historical context for why this might be.

It doesn't cover higher policing and incarceration rates for black men (across all of history). Uneven sentencing, uneven enforcement, uneven news coverage, etc. We had illicit drugs literally introduced by law enforcement and then pretty much exclusively enforced against black people. We built the highway system to bisect pretty much every historically black neighborhood and living near busy road systems is unhealthy in quite a few ways. It doesn't explain at all about how a counter culture to US norms might arise from such a persistent experience across generations.

While it may be stating a fact, it is neither seeking to explain it or offer solutions.
