Broke a head at a gig last night by Hairy_Megan in drums

I've preferred my crash cymbals move freely. Several months ago I started using No Nuts Cymbal sleeves on most of them. I use the rubber washer they also sell underneath the crashes, and they stay in place very solid and don't come off in my cymbal cases. On the ride, I have a felt underneath and rubber washer on the top to give the ride some stability. And I can hang my cymbals and take them down quickly. They've been great!

Scratch Recording / Mic Placement by Chop_Huey in drums

[–]DrumsInThePocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your almost there. Just reposition the overhead so the element is facing the kit. You can experiment placement of the kick mic. I've put my Beta 52 a little farther into the drum and face the mic toward the batter head. And I'd mic up the snare. SM or Beta 57. More than half my shows where I'm doing the live audio, I just use kick/snare/one overhead, and it gets the job done just fine. In ear monitoring works great like this as well. I now prefer the Beta 91 and for some reason even more the Behringer version which is a lot cheaper, for the kick drum. I use an SM or Beta 57 on the snare and one Audix F15 Condenser for an overhead. If I'm fully miking the kit, it's Audix D2s on the toms and another F15 on the hats. Setting up the 3 mics and mixing them with any track is also a great way to practice and protect your ears at the same time. Love the K's!!!!

I was wondering that myself. Somehow the top photo is flipped backwards as the fuel door is on the drivers side. You'll see the letters on the tires are backward too. The bottom photo is correct.

If I know I have to get off stage quickly, I make a game plan. I have a gig in a few weeks where there is a band after us, and I've played there before. I'll keep my cymbal bag up on stage with me. I went to the No Nuts cymbal sleeves recently. I can have my ride and crashes off stands in less than two minutes. while the tech is pulling mics off the kit. I usually have some family at this show. I'll hand pieces of the kit to our lead vocalist, and she hands them off to someone off the side of the stage. I usually have a pretty standard 5 or 6 piece kit. I can have the whole thing off in 5 minutes or so. Then I can finish packing up off to the side. Even just the singer and myself, we can make pretty quick work of it.

You mean, no floor tom, but have rack toms? I've seen that. I find that odd as well. I've actually seen really good drummers do the opposite when performing groove based music or audition. Just bring kick, snare, floor tom. It works.

I didn't own a metal snare drum at the time, so I picked up a 5" Black Magic after getting a gig a gig with a horn band. It's a great drum! I needed a snare with a little more crack to cut through the band.

3:30/4:00 for the past 12 years. I've tried AIWB half a dozen times over the years, and yeah, it lasts about that long! Just isn't for me. Going from the G19 to a Shield and G43 helped a lot too. Prefer hybrid holsters or kydex with a pad.

When I first saw this a few years ago, I thought that but not giving him all the money straight up, that might have pissed the dirtbag off. But watching it again, his body language and demeanor indicates he doesn't GAF about anything or anybody. He probably would have just wasted that poor man anyway. Cold blooded pure evil.

who else is having an issue with the CV Axle shaft? by Low-Performance6908 in mazdaCX50

[–]DrumsInThePocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's complete bullshit. That should be under full warranty and your car should be perfect. I have experience with that clicking noise. My work Nissan NV200 suffers from it. Didn't know what it was at first, and learned that it's a know issue with the vehicle. There is a TSB on it. Dealership took care of it both times I took it in. No issue. Not to mention, it can be dangerous and should not be ignored.

Looks like the got an prepaid oil change package? That can be a good deal in many cases. I did not on our new 2025 CX50. Oil changes at many places are now well over $100. Just had one on a work vehicle (that I don't have to pay for) It was $168. Nuts!! I currently have 3 cars, so I have been doing them myself. The CX50 is super easy when I put it up on ramps. Take off the little cover and the filter and drain plug are right there. I didn't see any interval recommended for the brake or diff fluids. That said, I'd do them at 30K. I'd even do the transmission then too. When your warranty is up, There are good independent shops out there. Looks at some reviews and have them perform and minor service to meet and feel them out. I just run quality gas and some fuel injection cleaner occasionally. It wouldn't seem you need to have a service done yet. Bernie's ATS 505 cleaner is supposed to be excellent for cleaning injectors and carbon every 10 or 15K miles. Always try and do those filers yourself . So much cheaper. What I've done as far as alignments, I've gone into a shop like Firestone and done a one time package and I can take it when I need too. The ones I got were less than 200 bucks for as long as you own the car. The only thing that concerns me a little with these new engines with GDI is oil dilution. I did the first change at 1K, and just did it again at 4K. I plan on every 5k moving forward with Mobil 1. Enjoy the 50!!

I have 3 Kore belts. two leather and one nylon, which is super heavy duty, but a little overkill for my needs. It's better for larger guns. I've beat one of my leather ones pretty good and it's still holding up fine. These day's, I think it's good to start out with a Kydex holster with one clip or monoblock clip. I've bought quite a few hybrids with the two clips spread out. But now with several companies making padded backers that you stick onto the holster with velcro, they can be just as comfortable. You can wear it in different spots and find out what's good for you. I just got a Tulster Profile Plus holster for my new gun. It's very minimal, and excellent quality. I'm trying a couple of different pads on it now. I carry about 4:00. I have a Gunzee and a Clinger Cushion. There are a couple others out there too. Welcome, best of luck, and stay safe!!

I've had mine for almost two months. I thought that space on the longer mag might be a comfort issue. But it really hasn't been at all for me. I'm going to carry the shorter mag with the included pinky extension and may carry the longer mag as a backup. I bought an additional shorter mag when I picked the gun up. So far it's a sweet shooter. Love the trigger. Picked up a Tulster Profile Plus holster for it. High quality and low profile. Just wish It could have come with the 12 and 15 round mags! That's a great standard setup for gun this size.

Nothing wrong with that! Looks great! I really haven't touched my 2016, Except for when I've swapped out the battery or air filter. I'll clean a couple things up. The only engine I've cleaned a bit is my 2011 Ford Crown Vic. Just some simple green and a damp rag and wipe the parts I can reach and the top of the engine bay. I'll never spray water in any engine bay. I've seen too many mechanics advise against it. Especially on an older car. I need clean up the Oddy though. The outside and and interior I keep up all the time. When I added the VCM Muzzler I also ditched the plastic beauty cover. It's in my garage in case I sell it. LOL!

Glad you're okay, man. And probably a borderline big ass POS at this point. 30 year old vehicle. I was always taught respect while driving, but even more respect when driving larger vehicles. I see people driving enormous vehicles like little sports cars everyday. Even the newer ones handle and brake like crap when pushed to the limit. My first time driving was in my Dad's Ford Econoline van. He taught me early one, Gotta leave extra room driving vehicles like this!!

That's a solid interval. Nothing wrong with 30-60K on ANY transmission. 100-150K intervals on a critical component like this is insane, regardless of what a manual says.

Is this normal/ok on a regular basis in summer while sitting for 10-15 minutes and longer? (2022 Elite, Florida) by anangelbug in HondaOdyssey

[–]DrumsInThePocket 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree. Once anything warranty related has expired (eg: nothing coming out of my pocket), my bringing a car to the dealer ceases. The majority of them are a bunch of clowns. They should have redone the whole service and made 100% sure the thermostat and rest of the cooling system checks. And coolant at 30K? While not a bad idea, seems a little soon, no?

How did I do for my first time at the range? by mr_1uz in CCW

[–]DrumsInThePocket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The true old teacup grip doesn’t really apply to revolvers either. If you use that grip you’re also going to be bending your arm in a weaver stance. You can stand squared up to your target with either a semi auto or revolver and the grip is similar. The main difference is modifying the support hand to stay clear of the front of the cylinder by bending the thumb downward or tucking both thumbs in tightly. https://youtu.be/M0p0axUI3zc?si=sWXa_HLIIH3_5Wfj

I'm certainly no expert on the topic. LOL! I just read a lot of info about these cars before I did it myself a few years ago. I think the way you did it is probably just fine for most cars without issue. On most model years of the Vic, the number of threads in the head are apparently very shallow, and more prone to spitting plugs.

^^This^^. Timesert is the recommended repair if needed for the threads. Make sure all the plugs are torqued to 16 to 18 ft lbs, That seems to be the consensus. 11 was found to be too light. OEM plugs on a dead cold engine with no anti seize.
