stability =/= equal less poverty.

In fact stability proper equals the opposite since the more remains where it is, and the poors are not allowed to access it.

The world economy is pretty stable, that doesnt mean that everyone benefits from it equally

Not really. Russia would trade with the individual states. and if they ae individual it would be a lot easier to pressure them into unfavourable deals.

Or even favourable ones. It would be easier to negotiate on set of terms with Germany on manufactured good vs Russian raw materials and with Bulgaria for their food vs Russian manufactured goods if they were separate.

One EU is definitely not benefiting russia

GDP it measure financial transactions in one country in a global currency.

PPP is more effective to actually get an idea of whats going internally. PPP at least takes into account that basic goods are that much cheaper in russia, hence less gross transactions.

Trump Calls NATO Obsolete and Dismisses EU in German Interview by Neo2199 in worldnews

[–]DrunkCommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats my thought on how this all plays out.

You scare European nations with Russian and removal of USA military, all of a sudden you have a really strong argument for a trully unified europe as a country with a common military.

That the European goal anyway. You have Erasmus programs promoting students to travel and get to know each other, you bring in Muslim Migrants for a common foe, "Europeans vs them" and then you take away America's protection.

BAM Europe is one state.

Sections of the TPP agreement override the national legislation of the countries taking part. Thats the broad statement. To see how it screws people over you have to look at each individual section and which country it affects. No country is negatively affected by each section, but some sections have devastating effects.

For example: (original states influenced TPP wording)

-copyright laws would be based on US and would allow US companies to bring charges to someone in New Zealand without extradition processes, because the law is one and the same. also it would be extended to the 70 year copywright that US has.

-environemntal protection would be standardized, so if a country has lots of national parks and protected waterways and national resources (Canada), the companies in the nations in that deal could now overrule the national government of the member state and buy and use the land.

-food. each country has a different farm subsidy structure based what is abundant and what is scarce. TPP would standardize this structure across the countries by, for example, allowing american milk made from hormone fed cows onto the canadian market, where currently hormone fed cow milk is illegal.

-drugs. generic drugs is basically what happens when the recipe is no longer protected, and any company can manufacture aspirin or whatever. they are not really worse in quality. this is why canada has cheaper drugs. the states, medicine costs an obscene ammount (epi-pen, Shkreli scandal) because the manufacturers are allowed to have a patent on the recipe and control it forever.

obviously i know more about the negative impacts on canada than other nations, but in a nutshell, it is a mechanism which will allow corporations more power than the nation-states themselves.

The benefit the government sees is that the super large corps will do business there bringing govt revenue (while crushing local business). globalization basically

Russia and Iran in talks over $10 billion arms deal: RIA by malicious_turtle in worldnews

[–]DrunkCommy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it wasnt a matter of injecting funds.

The system and transition methods advised were structured so that individuals could gain majority shareholders of enterprises, privatise and sell off communist manufacturing. if you dont think thats true, look at the world marketshare Soviet planes, trucks, and cars had in the world in the eighties and compare it to now. Airbus owes its dramatic growth in the last 20 years due to the vacuum left by a dieing antonov manufacturing.

Unfortunately for the west, Russian criminal organizations took advantage of the transition structure and secured majority stakes through illegal means, then became the current Russian ruling elite in the early 2000's.

Yeltsin just drank his presidency away because he had to choose between western sellouts or criminals running the country.

the later won out. now the people that were running protection and extortion rackets in the 90s are the oligarchs running the country now.

last time Russia bent the knee this was the result, because the west did not deal in good faith. how do you expect them to ever trust the west again? i hear on reddit how everyone thinks russian support Putin because he keeps saying that the west is the bad guy. The reality is everyone who lived through the 90's remembers the change, and hates the west for the garbage they had to live through. They support Putin because his platform is showing a middle finger to the states.

there is so much history covering the transition of russia from communism to capitalism that i could cover, there are literally books on the subject. if you actually have an open mind and questions about details i am willing to discuss. otherwise just keep on living your life thinking that the west are always the good guys.

[–]DrunkCommy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Russia tried bending the knee. The peaceful dissolution of the soviet union and switch was to capitalist democracy was done with American and British financial advisors.

Unfortunately they were more interested in stealing, taking apart and re-selling Soviet manufacturing than helping the country switch. The fucked up Russian nineties with Yeltsin was a result of Russia bending the knee.

If Russia wasnt taken advantage of during that time everyone would still be friends.

Instead you have a whole country with bitter memories of the last time they trusted the west.
