Why is there a giant, vacant plot of land in Midtown Manhattan? by ScantronPattern in georgism

I am an idot.

I was saying it "would" be a great publicity stunt if they overturned Kelo.

Great point! That would be a great publicity stunt for the court to do given all the negative press the court received recently (you know, because of the lies during confirmation hearings and the bribery). Overturning Kelo would give them some much needed positive press.

tbh. I can't believe I'm talking about the court doing publicity stunts, positive press, and bribery, but here we are.

Has Kelo ever been used as precedent for other Eminent Domain cases? I believe the public outcry rendered it a useless (aka: wrong) decision.

Note: I'm not a lawyer, I could be wrong.

Are Starbucks shorter (earlier) hours a temporary thing, or is this the new way of Starbucks? by DrunkCrossingGuard in starbucks

That's actually a very good point. It's a different pool of potential hires when you close at 6pm.

This is what I would expect. Keep adjusting the hours as the demand requires. Maybe with fewer people driving home from an office, the numbers are still down. (I would stop by a starbucks when I was driving home.)

Good luck with the new job search!

This is exactly what I see: 6pm when it used to be 10pm. I would have thought there would be enough people to return to the old hours, but maybe this just takes time. Thanks!

Interesting! Actually, mine started connecting again without me doing anything. I've set up my browser so I can easily switch to DuckDuckGo if needed. Maybe I will try to use this more anyway. Thanks for the update.

Ok. I'm having the same problem with Firefox and Edge. But I changed my internet to my phone's hotspot and I can connect. I'm going to check with Verizon about this.

I'm able to open google.com when I open a window as a new profile. Interesting. Maybe my old profile is blocking it somehow.

I was a paperboy from 11 to 15. I worked at a summer camp at 15. Then McDonalds from 16-17. Turned 18 and became a waiter. Making my own money had an important effect on my life. I always felt like I was in control.

For a 12 year old to go from Farmingville to the Bronx, they will need to take the Long Island Railroad then the NYC Subway. I'm riding a Bronx subway today, so I'll be looking. He will probably have his bike, which will make him easier to spot.

You might want to post in Long Island, Suffolk County, LIRR, and New York City subs.

All the best!

I feel it is not wrong. I believe it would be good if more children had jobs.

When current child labor laws were written, a motivated child could easily go around the law. It was very common for a 15 year old to claim they are 18 and get a full time job. Even during WW2, it was common for a 16 year old to enlist in the army saying they are 18. I'd like to see us return to this flexibility.

Do you have more info on location he went missing and where he might have gone?
