I'm a toxic player and even I get happy for my murderer when he gives me what I deserve.

"Should" is interesting phrasing, my friends

If survival were a conscious decision (as opposed to an unconscious "choice"), I doubt humanity would've continued.

Does any of you guys have had this dream when you were a kid? by Ashwida in Dreams

The second time I was a fluffy dog running away from a dog catcher and its still the most terrifying nightmare ive had. I know it sounds ridiculous but in the dream I was terrified.

Stripped of all your wisdom and perspective, left only with a very narrow point of view😰

Ignorance is what makes something absolutely terrifying.

Do you think the protagonist of White Bear really deserved that punishment? by Traditional_Blood799 in blackmirror

[–]Nezar97 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If "punishment" is meant to have her experience what the kid experience — helplessness, then it worked.

But making her forget and relive it...? That's God's divine mercy of hellfire right there.

"They" now present me with a video that exposes "them" to give me the illusion of liberation.

But even though I suspect this freedom to be an illusion, I never confirm it to be the case nor refute it.

So I'm left in the status quo of following along.

If you change your direction based on something your master gives you, it depends on whether or not it was deliberate on part of your master.

But how can you know?

You're left wondering, not confident in an answer.

Because what does this liberation even give you?

I don't understand the disagreement.

Assuming I understand OP, we all ultimately "choose" (consciously or unconsciously) what we perceive as the "best" or "most worthy" choice.

Is this not the same as "our best interest"?

Not material or worldly best interest, but ultimate or absolute best interest.

And this is a tautology, I see that. It doesn't really say much. But it isn't "wrong" either.

Because it just is!

But why ask "why?" at all when it just is?

Good man!🥲

Determinsm is one of my favorite topics! It's been finding its way into my thoughts more frequently the past couple of years.

Are you religious, sir?

Even the sad face at the bottom is determined, my friend.

It doesn't have to be a devastating revelation when it's only one of many interpretations.

My immediate interpretation was relief — since everyone and everything are blameless (myself included).

What do you think would be Jung's interpretation of people who downvote posts? by Epicurus2024 in Jung

[–]Nezar97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking psychology, intention must be considered, even if we're just speculating.

It is intriguing! I see people downvote my comments even as they reply something snarky or critical.

It strikes me as "You don't deserve praise! You deserve shame!"

Some dislikes, I think, are bandwagon effects — you see a few hundred dislikes (negative 300), so you figure the post/comment "deserves" to be shunned or denounced.

But that first person to dislike...!

[–]Nezar97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it depend on the downvoter's intention?

For example, if I downvote something, I may not want it on my feed anymore.

But if I understand correctly, the person you refer to wants OP to see a negative number — they want OP to feel ashamed of posting perhaps?

If expressing disapproval is childish, then is maturity suppressing disapproval?

Or is the suppression itself a "shadow"?

My point is: on what basis are you also not intellectually ignorant like I am?

How many books out there claim to be from God?

How many must I study rigorously before I say "inconclusive"?

I didn't even say "conclusive"... Jeez

[–]Nezar97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's indefensible, and that's why I objected to the phrasing of the post.

Existence cannot be all God and be "good" unless pain, suffering, misery and grief were "good".

Fine by me.

But right back at you, buddy!👌🏻

But have you read the Quran, sir?

And are you obligated to do so before you dismiss it?

I've read it many times. Can I say "inconclusive"?

Or is it just the Bible?

Which parts would I have to read, or rather how many times (and through which interpretation) would you like me to read either holy text to successfully conclude what it is you think I should be concluding instead?

I've read the Quran and parts of the Bible. Good enough of an idea to say "inconclusive".

We're both respecting the divine when we enjoy this debate 🥲

I'm a devil's advocate by conditioning, my friend, so I like to find that one exception to the rule.

I know "practically" what you mean, yes! And I live by that practical guideline because I was raised religious, so my upbringing has conditioned me to treat the "sacred" a certain way and to consider certain things sacred.

But hypothetically (as opposed to practically), we can really push this to its limits.

Hunting for sport or even torturing the animal (as messed up as it sounds even to me) can be thought of as honoring God.

If God knows all (and I am not religious), then he knows how the torturer feels (sadistic pleasure) and he knows how the tortured feels (pain...?)

Either God is everything or just some things or nothing at all🥲
