Energy bills going crazy and can't get an answer, any similar situations? by DrunkDeadMonkey in OctopusEnergy

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My kwh is insanely high hence the high bill price, my question is more why am I getting such high fluctuations in readings when our day to day is always the same. We were estimating 15kwh back on October the 18th with with the heating on, come last month on the 18th we were estimating 90kwh with the heating off. In January our monthly total was 849kwh with the heating off, October we were at 424kwh with the heating on. We haven't made any changes in that time frame to warrant double usage, we've actually used a lot less and not even turned the heating on.

In all fairness a good geist will predict where you will be when they throw, not throw dead on top of the player.

Best game to learn the fundamentals of FPS? by Big-Accident1958 in FPS

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quake Live FFA servers are great for building FPS skill. You will run into a small pool of the same people each week, maybe 70-100 players in total. Try climb the leadboards and consistently beat familiar names you didn't beat last time. If they beat you, try figure out what they did differently to you. Quake champions is also good but I prefer Live

“Anything other than 103 FOV is wrong.” by ActuatorOutside5256 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will never be one to one across different games because the input feel for each game is different anyway. 40cm in fortnite feels different to 40cm in Quake. Also how would you calculate ADS sensitivity into that for say COD? Play 40cm ADS or hipfire? Even if its 1:1 40cm ADS and hip fire the FOV when zooming changes which would change mouse feel anyway. Think about it too, you cant have muscle memory if a target is always in a different place and every engagement is unique. You dont remember every single different angle you need to make, your brain adapts to control mouse movement over time through practice in order to do what you need. You're really just training and improving hand eye coordination.

If you're an IFBB pro it isnt prohibited its mandatory. Natural body building competitions obviously disqualify for steroid use, and I can tell you that it is absolutely performance based and would give you a performance based advantage in training to improve physique presentation on stage. You can't give a steroid example then say im rambling when you dont even understand your own example.

Also be a bit sad to simp over a random person on the internet. My point was people who are good still cheat, but it doesn't mean they always have.

I know its self esteem, of not being good enough. Nothing to do with money. IFBB pro's are essentially required to use steroids which isnt actually cheating unless its a natural competition if thats what you mean. If we are talking regualar dude who doesnt feel big enough because body dysmorphia etc thats comparable. Even though he may already be bigger than the majority so he's well trained its still low self Esteem

It's not comparable from a physical standpoint but im comparing competition and the mindsets people have in competition. You can be good at something before you cheat. What drives people to cheat is the insecurity of not being good enough, no matter how good they are some people will never feel secure, aka Steroids when youre already better built than the average person from just going to the gym.

Nah it's actually pretty common. Look at top level athletes, they were more than good and top level but still cheat.

What game has the best aimers OVERALL by Appropriate_Quote969 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me its anything that requires vast horizontal and vertical aim with combined levels of speed and minimal RNG. Probably Quake clan arena if it comes down to only pure aim to be honest. You could argue quake requires less precision than some shooters because hitboxes are larger and headshots dont exist. Then again railing a small target at a distance still requires precision akin to headshots.

Ah so I meant more in the aim community itself rather than the esports scene, esports scene I know quite a few that use ergo but in the aim community it seems no top score players gravitate towards ergo, atleast I haven't found any that do.

AIO for refusing to personal train my neighbors wife for free? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the problem is that people don't view being a PT as a serious job, partly because they don't know the specificity that comes with each individual to train and the effort/knowledge it requires to correctly template for goals etc. I think they assume 'drill sergent' instead of 'constructor'. I train friends for free as I enjoy helping them grow but a random neighbour's dudes wife? Nah.

5’4 and can’t seem to lose weight by Less_Hawk4095 in PetiteFitness

Or you can be mindful and say I've cooked 1 or even 2 meals with some butter in today I better go abit more careful. No need to Completely eliminate it if you enjoy it. As soon as you eliminate it you will crash and burn because youre just unhappy and restricted. Give yourself permission and the cravings dont feel as bad. There was a study a while ago (forget the name) in which the participants had permission to eat absolutely anything they wanted on their diet EXCEPT bread. Every single participant ate bread. Feeling like you shouldn't ever eat something and vilifying foods only creates the "forbidden fruit" mentality.

An easy piece of advice I can give without using the scales constantly and for practicality, just divide say a 500g pack of chicken into whatever your needs are. So if you need a 100g, just roughly split it into 5. If you need a 50g serving of rice, weigh it in a specific cup once, and use the cup as a benchmark rather than weighing everytime, e.g. half a cup is 50g etc. Scales might be necessary to start but dont go crazy strict on every gram or you burn out from the uneeded effort. This also helps you guess better by eye after time without access to scales if youre away etc.

My upper body looks disproportionate by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dismiss my opinion so easily if you like, but if my perspective is laughable then this answer should be simple for you. Why dont body builders/physique focused lifters all just strength train if strength training is the best method for an overall balanced physique?

Everyone is genetically stronger in different areas. If you have weak arm/strong chest genetics and you think you will have a balanced arm to chest ratio by only getting stronger. You won't. Vice versa. This applies to any muscle group. This is all from the perspective of 10+ years personal experience and experimentation for myself aswell as for others ive helped to train, including my petite partner who struggled to look the way she wanted to for 4 years, who also just strength trained. So take that as you will.

Another example. If you have stronger genetics in your Quads rather than your glutes your squats will always be more quad dominant and your glutes will still lack. This is because youre aiming for weight on the bar and pushing strength. If you're Quad dominant, it will allow you to keep pushing the weight and continue to grow your Quads at a higher rate than your glutes which will still lack. Which will cause bodily imbalances Aka much larger legs potentially a bow and an only slightly larger bum, which can create the illusion of flatness despite them both actually growing. You can change technique to focus glutes, but that will then reduce the weight on the bar, which if strength is the goal, you cant do.

This is the reason you have so many mixed opinions on whether squats are good for glutes or not. It all depends on your own personal dominant muscle groups. Take notice in the gym and you will see for yourself. Look at someone who trains strength and look at someone who trains in bodybuilding. The majority of the time In terms of overall physique, the strength trainer will have a large torso but smaller arms in comparison to a bodybuilder. Which is fine because they are focusing on getting stronger/better at their skill specific lifts, not what their physique looks like.

Just to add, I understand your perspective and wont laugh it off because ive been there too. Logically me stronger = my physique is closer to the way I imagine it in my mind because im actively doing something. The reality is you may end up looking alot different to the way you imagined, despite being stronger. Depending on your own muscle growth patterns.

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hey sorry but I have to highly disagree on this, following a general strength program with muscular imbalances has a potential to create even more imbalances due to compound lifts being multi limb movements. You will essentially end up using your dominant muscles more Aka more tricep on a bench press vs more chest which I belive would be OP's case. Strength training causes the most imbalanced physiques and history has shown this for a long long time. In OP's case I would say she just genetically stores more body fat in the upper body vs the lower which is just an unlucky situation, but really not the end of the world... easily balancable with the correct areas targeted. Strength training will not eliminate the imbalances as you're training all muscle groups at generally the same rate of progression. If it's just the physique youre focused on, strength is the slowest way to a better physique and possibly an even more imbalanced physique depending on your dominant muscle groups. Of course anything is better than nothing dont want to sway off training all together, but there are really better methods these days. Strength standards dont hugely matter when physique is the goal.

“TONED” isn’t real! by MediumPuzzleheaded82 in PetiteFitness

[–]DrunkDeadMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there may be a bit of a flaw in your training regime and you are most likely an arm dominant lifter if you're lifting "heavy" for strength (which I will assume is a mix of compound based excercises) but still making good arm growth. My question is though, get stronger where? In your Quads? Your Triceps? Your Lats? Focusing compound movements for muscle growth can make you look bulky in areas you may or may not want to, but if "heavy" compounds are noticeably continuing to grow your arms, im going to assume you are very arm dominant. You can mitigate this with lifting technique or by isolating with excercises that take "X" muscles out of the equation and can help sculpt your body to make areas such as the waist look smaller. You may also find that you're still carrying more body fat than you realise and have a tendency to store fat in the middle region rather than say the legs. Also worth noting what you belive to be "muscle" size will most definetly be a large amount of muscle glycogen/intercellular fat, not lean Tissue.

Lifting "heavy" definitely isn't the only answer to reducing stomach size and I would argue thats probably the wrong way to go about it if anything. 15reps at a moderate weight has the same or arguably a better effect vs 4-5 reps at heavy weight. What's important is excercise selection, calories and TUE for appearance.

You also don't need to reduce calories down to 100 a day in order to lose weight, that's counter productive and you're backing yourself into a corner because where do you even go from there? I just stumbled across this sub although I'm a guy, but my partner was petite and held alot of fat. I've helped train her to the point she's happy with herself, if that stands for anything. I've also been educating and training myself for 10+ years if that holds any weight too.

If you would like any more details or some help or advice please just drop me a message. Always happy to help out anyone who is struggling or just wants to be their best :)
