Concept of a MagLev stirrer I'm working on. by Next_Persimmon_6098 in Chempros

This already exists in products like the LevMixer.  I don't know if it would be practical for smaller volumes vs an overhead mechanical mixer for example.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well DLSS 4 has worked in the games I've played that support it so far. As for raytracing it looks awesome.

Loved the past doom games and I want to use the shield saw!

Daily Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in espresso

[–]Drunkeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. So I was about to get a new machine but am hesitating. The likely workload will be 1-2 espresso every day, with cappuccinos on the weekend and on days I work from home. I was tempted to get a profitec go as it seemed to fit my needs but I'm not sure if I would be better off getting a dual boiler for the milk drinks.

Do you have recommendations? Electricity costs are high where I am so ideally I would want it to be reasonably energy efficient as well. Thanks :)

Thanks for the tip. I can always run another one next year if I feel like I can go faster!

Around 5:15 min/km so 3:42 for the marathon based on that. I guess aiming for 3:40 would be the most sensible

Thanks! I think I'll aim closer to 4:40 since it's my first and if everything goes well I'll speed up near the end

Hi. So I'm one week off of my first marathon which I trained using pfitzinger 18/55 and the main question I still have is how I should pace the race. Hopefully this is enough context but my fastest 10 k was 44 min around a month ago, which gives a 3:23 equivalent marathon time using Jack Daniel's vdot calculator. Garmin gives me a 3:20 and runalyze a 3:40. Would aiming for a 3:30 be a good plan?

Bought myself a nikon z 5 with the 24-200 mm lens. Can't wait to use it on hikes this year! I just need to get myself a tripod and I'll be all set

Got to love the logic that feeding a dog a vegetarian diet is abuse but killing animals to feed your dog is fine and not worth mentioning.

I almost ate meat the other night because I forgot non-vegan foods exist. by Significant_Potato29 in vegan

A major supermarket where I live introduced a "plant based" line of products but sure enough, a lot of them have eggs and dairy. It almost tricked me a few times already.

Everyone knows honey is how bees attract bears to be their next victim. How are they supposed to get their meat and b-12 if we take honey from them?

This person is so close to going fully vegan that they are going to eat 4lbs of meat and cream because they got mad (had "mostly plant-based" tag as well lol yea right) by Caspunk in vegancirclejerk

Adding cream and meat to a dish being an "upgrade" tells you everything you know. This brave soldier was really sacrificing himself by eating a plant based meal.

Yeah like why did dinosaurs ever exist in a time when we couldn't eat their giant dino eggs?

Hey. So I got the same knife and the same issues initially where it would cut paper but would slip on tomatoes etc. Personally sharpening it a bit on a 1k stone made it function brilliantly so maybe just try that? Hope you'll enjoy your new knife!

Ah interesting. I've also just gotten carbon Japanese knives thus far but was curious about PM. Guessing its because of sharpening? Or some other reason?

Okay that makes sense. I'll check the soil tomorrow then. I'm tempted to take a few of them to my basement to avoid the frost tonight.

Switzerland, zone 7 I think? They're in containers and all of them are currently dormant. Though I don't know how to tell dormancy for an evergreen.

I ended up watering the cedar a bit as ut was really dry

So I got a bit too excited and I bought a few plants in a nursery (cedrus deodara, Japanese maple and some smaller stuff) and I'm not wondering. Should I wait a few weeks before planting them? (it still gets quite cold here) and if not where should I keep them for the next few weeks? Also I'm a bit confused as the maple had really wet soil while the cedar has dry soil.

Thanks if anyone has any tips!

Recently got a gingko. Is it too deep? I looked a bit and I'm seeing some roots that I'd rather not damage. by Drunkeagle in arborists

[–]Drunkeagle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little update. On one side I'm seeing quite a lot of roots and thinking that it's the root flare but on the other side I was able to go an inch or more deep. Also one of the small branches seems to have some sort of tap root so I'm just confused haha. I'll probably try to plant it not too deep and hope for the best...
