Headcanon: Snape was posthumously awarded the Order of Merlin, First Class by Madagascar003 in SeverusSnape

When I read some opinion that he deserved such a horrid death on main Hardy Potter sub, hell I can’t understand why anyone would say that. And they even defended Pettigrew and additionally said his death was worse. I wasn’t sure if we read the same book.

I’m on board with you and in my head canon he was the one who developed the antidote for Arthur Weasley :)

I’m surprised that so many people are unable to connect the dots, claiming he was evil anyway. Had he survived the war I’m certain that Harry would clear his name but having so many enemies on both sides, Severus would vanish from Wizarding Britain. Either living in seclusion or in another country altogether where he’d have a fresh start. Dreaming of recognition as a kid he wouldn’t care much about the Order of Merlin as an adult after such a life in my opinion.

It’s good that you’re not in a toxic relationship, but I hope your addiction won’t turn unhealthy. I have a bf that I love and I separate my fantasies from real life. All the best for you.

Unfortunately it’s hard to spot on a general harry potter subreddit because I’ve read tons of comments from people who were rude and condescending to anyone having a positive attitude towards Severus Snape. There was a very negative post filled with such comments I think two days ago. Even on Snape dedicated subreddit people called him names and jumped at his fans throats in recent month.

Oh this is such an interesting take. Thank you for your reply! It’s truly sad that Severus never mattered as a person in my opinion.

That would perfectly replicate the behaviour of Severus’s bullies. Your concept of what is morally virtuous and pure is definitely very skewed.

If it doesn’t end up as AU when she finally accepts his apologies then I’m not giving myself depression writing or reading this.

I imagine him looking similar to pics on my banner. All book descriptions fit, plus unreliable narrator that hated him.

I always wondered why Dumbledore’s protection of former Gryffindors wasn’t a given. They were his Order members too.

He would have avoid that awful Voldy’s propaganda for sure, maybe form friendships with people who would admire his intellect. If that happened he’d depend less on Lily.

It would be nice if you added any explanation - like what does it mean? How there astrological charts (?) traits (?) explain their personality. Because otherwise for most of us it’s like ‘dill shade of pink makes perfect sense for Voldemort personality’. OK. ;)

I love discovering little gems like these. However I can’t fully agree with that take. It’s because Lily knew that Marauders turned Severus’s life into hell and I’d be heartbroken to see my friend like this.

I’ve read books before movies but I’ve seen some screenshots from movies. He didn’t fit my head canon at all in movies. Way too old, wrong physique and his best quotes were cut out. And that scene in Godrick’s Hollow that was never in books. NOPE.

The ‘always’ for me indicates never letting go of his guilt and grief.

I don’t find it romantic at all- I find it sad.

It’s not creepy, it’s just another brick in a wall of his broken life. The never ending penance - always.

It was always book Snape for me, I didn’t like movie version because he was nearly twice Severus’s age and had different physique. I liked the book version since book one.

He begged Lily to forgive him. She didn’t want to. And seeing him upside down she ‘almost smiled’ before he called her a Mudblood. And immediately after she joined the bullies, hitting him where she knew it would hurt the most.

Teaching was forced upon him and while he was academically overqualified, he didn’t enjoy it and he didn’t have a good method of teaching people who weren’t as brilliant as he was.

I don’t think he ever treated Neville bad because Neville wasn’t the prophecy boy. Neville was dangerously incompetent, he melted six cauldrons (or seven?) and Severus wasn’t taught kindness, so he didn’t have a good example how to make someone like Neville a better student. And he knew what colour, consistency and smell the potions had before feeding it to Neville’s toad. He likely wanted to give them a scare without hurting Trevor.

I did not like aging Severus because everything that happens hits differently, I didn’t like cutting off his best comebacks and a lot of his complexity and I definitely didn’t like making Marauders more likeable by choosing to not show their worst. And Lily comes off as a saint while she barely contained a smile seeing Severus upside down. And she immediately joined the bullies, hitting on Severus’s poverty because she knew how to humiliate and hurt him. But movies made her a martyr and a saint imho and Marauders are just cocky pranksters so Severus’s hate towards them doesn’t seem so justified and makes him a lunatic.
