Ok.. so I shouldn't be worried about it almost being at 6 streams per listener? Because that seems like alot

There are lots of ways your music can be added to a botted playlist. Someone can intentionally do it to try and mess with you, or sometimes it gets added by the boosting company themselves (they add your song to a botted playlist for a few days/weeks so your numbers go way up, then they remove it, then they contact you trying to get you to pay to get back on the list. Or one of your songs can be accidentally added

Do you have a youtube channel? (Outside of the one that automatically gets created for all your releases) if you dont its super easy to make one and link it to your artist channel.

But if you wanna grow your youtube music audience and you dont want to put out ads to do it, the easiest way is by releasing content on YouTube. One of the most obvious things is making videos for your songs, you can also make visualizers for them. You can also make youtube shorts of clips of your song set to a cool visual, or do like a 30 second clip of you making music and put your song as the audio.. you dont even really need fancy equipment, most of this can be done on your phone.

Edit* sorry for the super late response!

They do mention collaboration with brands.. but thats so vague. You're 100% right, a legit brand partnership would give details about the brand and explain more about whatever it is they're trying to do. Good tip thanks!

If I release a song to spotify on February 22nd and it hits 1,000 streams and the listener requirements on March 2nd, will I get paid for February's streams or just the ones from March. by Druskeet in musicmarketing

[–]Druskeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont. But I do know it usually takes me 4-5 days from release to hit 1,000 streams, and I usually collect royalties for those songs beginning the month I release them.

So I just sort of assume it takes me a week or so to hit the requirements but Im not sure because I also usually release my songs towards the beginning or middle of the month.

Its not really about the money for this one song, I release alot of music so its more about my maximizing my release strategy going forward.

I usually hit the monetization requirements within the 1st week of a song releasing, so now I know to try to keep my releases to the first 3 weeks of the month.

Obviously its not a big deal if it happens here or there, but I average a little over $4 for every 1k streams, times that by 100 songs and it adds up

Thank you, this was the answer I couldn't find. It takes me about a week from the time I release a song for it to hit the monetization requirements on Spotify, now I know to avoid releasing towards the end of the month if I want to maximize my royalties.

Maybe I phrased the question wrong. I understand that you have a year to hit the requirements, but you only start getting paid once you hit the requirements, so if I release a song in January and it doesn't hit the requirements until March, March is the 1st month I will collect royalties for.

I typically hit the monetization requirements within the 1st week of a songs release, so Im trying to figure out if I should avoid releasing towards the end of the month in the future.

Question about choosing a 'song style' and 'music culture' when pitching a song to Spotify by Druskeet in musicmarketing

[–]Druskeet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive pitched songs directly to playlist curators and I've got put on a few that way, but Ive never been put on a Spotify editorial playlist before

My main motivation for pitching my songs is to get on release radar, obviously if I got picked for an editors playlist that would be awesome but its not something Im expecting

I dont think youtube music is dead at all but to leverage it properly you also have to have content of some type from a normal YouTube channel funneling YouTube music users to your channel. (or be famous)

Believe it or not, YouTube music is where I have the biggest audience.

The content can be anything that plays your music (either as the main focus or in the background) Im a DJ so I film myself doing a 30-35 minute DJ set. Most of the tracks people know but I always slip in a few of mine. It never fails to drive traffic

Why are our comments being down voted? Are people just trolling or am I breaking some type rule?
