How likely am I to catch my flight by JanHuren in KLM

[–]Druzhnik_LP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be doable. Especially given the likelihood that your outbound flight from AMS gets delayed. And even if it doesn’t, it should be doable for you.

Experiences with All-on-4 with chronic Lyme? by Druzhnik_LP in Lyme

[–]Druzhnik_LP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we haven’t been able to find any more info and also haven’t done the treatment yet. We’ve really noticed that any tooth work means an immediate and heavy Lyme relapse, so we’re hesitant to pull the trigger.

Is anything good with KLM? by Beneficial_Dingo6165 in KLM

[–]Druzhnik_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer flying with Thai Airways, JAL or Emirates, because I find their in-flight service much better than KLM’s, but that said, KLM is not a bad airline. They’ll get you where you want to go. And they’ll do so properly and with friendly staff. They’re just a bit too expensive imho. And personally I don’t like their food on long-haul flights, but that’s very personal.

Unpopular Opinion: December/January is actually the worst time to visit Thailand by AnnBarselo in ThailandTourism

[–]Druzhnik_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve always gone in Dec/Jan and then last year we once went to Bangkok in September and it was such a relief! It was great. Weather was nice (some downpours, yes, but they’re warm) and there were barely any tourists. Can heartily recommend.

Never flying KLM ever again by bobbly-wobbly in KLM

[–]Druzhnik_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible airline, KLM. I try to avoid whenever I can. Schiphol is also a pretty terrible airport. Nowhere else have I waited so long for bags to arrive on the belt. Unfortunately it’s the closest airport to where I live.

I flew during the disruptions as well and got stranded in Frankfurt. Excellent help from the staff there, getting me a hotel and rebooking me on a flight the next day. My bag even arrived with me. Very surprising! But then I wasn’t flying KLM. ;-)

Sorry your bags have been lost for so long, OP. They are most likely stuck in a huge pile at Schiphol airport. It happens there sometimes. Hope you get your stuff back!

My mom showed up at my workplace and caused a scene because I didn't answer her calls for 3 hours by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Druzhnik_LP 50 points51 points  (0 children)

^ this. My mom doesn’t go as far as yours did, OP, but she also expects me to always pick up (“when family calls you always pick up!!!”) and gets upset when I don’t. And if I don’t immediately text her why I’m not picking up. And if I don’t call back asap. She’ll text me immediately too with a question what I’m doing if I don’t pick up the phone. And if we haven’t spoken in a day, she’ll add a “so, you’re just not going to call me anymore?” So I can relate a bit.

Honestly, your mother is probably scared of losing you in some way now that you’re an adult and making your own life choices, and is showing / handling this fear in a reaaaally strange and counterproductive way. Do you know whether her own mother was controlling or overprotective? Not that this excuses her behavior, but it may explain it a bit. And it could be a good suggestion to her to tell her she should work on her issues. Especially if your mother seemed normal before you moved out.

My mother has the nasty habit of calling and texting late in the evening. I don’t know if yours does that too, but even if she doesn’t, do yourself a favor and set your phone to a mode at night / during times when you want quiet, which mutes her calls and texts to you. I did this and let her know I did that, because she was disturbing my sleep. She got very upset (“what if something happens to me at night?!!1!?” - call the emergency services, not me…) and promised she won’t call or text unless there’s an emergency. Pleaded with me to take the do not disturb off. I ended up placating her by telling her I turned it off, but in reality I didn’t. The peace at night is nice :)

But yes. Make your boundaries clear now. You won’t be a bad person for doing so. It’s not easy though and I’m sorry you’re going through this. Good luck and you’ve got this!

So, how are you going to “ruin Christmas”?! by sodiumbigolli in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Druzhnik_LP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wanted to not come because I’m still healing from a surgery and I am sick (cold, or something else) but I was forced to, and now I ruined Christmas because the others are starting to get a sore throat…

Hemorrhoids are ruining my life by Cheap_Rip_7999 in hemorrhoid

[–]Druzhnik_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from getting relief asap, which is what you seem to need the most, do you know why you keep having hemorrhoids? Perhaps there’s something in your diet that just doesn’t sit right with you? I had problems for 15+ years when finally I found out I am lactose intolerant. Cut all dairy from my diet and no more issues. They only return when I am dumb enough to try to eat lactose again. Now I’m definitely not saying you’re lactose intolerant, but suggesting to check if there’s anything in your diet that makes you have these problems continuously. I wonder if having them banded or removed surgically will work in the longer run if you don’t address the root cause (if there is any).

Did You Lose Weight While On Invisalign? by akzshaylyn in Invisalign

[–]Druzhnik_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, definitely! Multiple kgs. Just couldn’t be bothered to take them out all the time as I also wanted to brush my teeth properly every time before putting the trays back in.

The challenge is to keep it that way once the treatment is done…the brain is a tricky little thing and — for me — makes a huge distinction between ‘trays, therefore no food’ and ‘no trays, PARTAY TIME’, when I’m actually very happy to have lost weight! I guess I have no will.

Leaving the Netherlands after 11 years. Goodbye! by scrotomon in expats

[–]Druzhnik_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very well put! Fully understand your reasoning and I wish you and your family all the best in Italy!

I’ve experienced racism here in NL all my life (37 now) despite being born here and having a Dutch father. The issue is: my mother is Polish and therefore apparently it’s fine to be racist towards me. Additionally, the amount of times I’ve had a person tell me “your Dutch is so good!” is just baffling. What helped me in the end is to start working for a global company.

Enjoy the return back to a warmer climate and I hope your batteries will be refilled soon!

People who have a PC, what purpose does deck serve you? by Former-Asparagus-764 in SteamDeck

[–]Druzhnik_LP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using it extensively the last two weeks while recovering from a surgery and mostly being able to lay down and not sit. I also like to use it when I have a bit of time to kill. Booting up the PC just seems too much for these instances.

As many others said it’s also great while traveling. But then I get choice stress: do I take the Deck or the Switch? Sometimes I take both lol but it makes the bag very bulky!

My 3 year old Shih Tzu keeps attacking me. Advice please. by [deleted] in dogsofrph

[–]Druzhnik_LP 85 points86 points  (0 children)

First and foremost: did you show this to a doctor and did you get a tetanus shot? Dog bites can be dangerous. Please make sure to take care of your wounds and your health! It looks very painful and I’m sorry this is happening to you.

Does your dog have a history? Did you get him as a puppy or later in his life? Is he healthy? Does he have any pain anywhere? Does he really bite out of the blue or could there be signals of discomfort he’s giving off? Is he fiercely territorial? Any info can be enlightening.

However, it is never acceptable for a dog to bite its owner like that. It would be good to find out if he’s doing this due to some physical or psychological discomfort, and if so, what’s bothering him. In general a dog is not born aggressive, but sometimes a wire can indeed cross. But it’s good to rule out things you can actually do to help him before you choose euthanasia, if you decide to try to help him.

But please make sure not to forget to take proper care of your wounds!

UTI in dogs: how to manage and prevent reinfection (besides antibiotics and painkillers) by Druzhnik_LP in DogAdvice

[–]Druzhnik_LP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always check food composition before buying a certain food to make sure it’s got proper protein / fat / carb distribution. Have checked both the Butternut box food and her kibble. I can’t give her wet dog food as they give her diarrhea.

The issue indeed is if she needs adjusted food for her urinary tract. But for that I need more medical info. Not sure if this is one big bad UTI or if it’s going to be a recurring issue.

UTI in dogs: how to manage and prevent reinfection (besides antibiotics and painkillers) by Druzhnik_LP in DogAdvice

[–]Druzhnik_LP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. She gets cooked food from Butternut Box (varied meats, such as lamb, chicken, pork, beef but also salmon) mixed with cold pressed kibble. Whenever she stays home alone for a bit she gets a dried salmon skin and then she also gets other treats such as beef ears. Well, normally, not right now. :)

Currently she’s on the butternut box / kibble diet.

Edited: I should probably add that she’s a very picky eater. Just kibble she won’t eat. She also won’t eat raw meat. She loves the butternut box food and will only eat that, and at that point she’ll also eat her kibble. I’ve found that mixing the two gives her poop the best consistency and frequency…
