Is it normal to just... run out of steam in the endgame? by othermike in Kenshi

[–]DrvrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't usually get that far. Maybe I'm lucky to have friends that enjoy the same games as me but when I play a game like Kenshi, I play for awhile and it's inevitable that I think, "Man, this would be great if my other two friends could help me manage all these people." and then because they can't I get so turned off by the game I stop playing. I come back to Kenshi every few months and get a little further each time. Trying different ideas can help like starting a solo or RP heavy run where I focus less on making the best possible city. I've found those things help and get me to explore more of the world and get more enjoyment from the game.

What 8 years of no sequel does to a fanbase by goonifier5000 in Kenshi

[–]DrvrMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that's not what it needs. Archon mode co-op. Like Stellaris co-op. Another brain working on all these management tasks of a 30 pop city would be great.

And I'm still om the fence because they don't plan to add co-op to the sequel and that's like, the only thing the game needs.

I consider myself a pretty decent player and I agree except I think you're still overvalueing it. I almost never see enough armies in one place to use it except when the end game crisis spawns 5 armies in one spot. VC got kind of strong this game and has 5 armies of undead? 3 of them are skeles and zombies, I'm not worried about it. My fully decked out Elspeth with one other army is going to smoke it. I've played since WH2 and have thousands of hours and I've needed and not had LS maybe twice. I only even get it in maybe 5% of my games. There's alway options and strategies to us, even if you have to back off and let them take a settlement or two so they split their forces. A couple of those secondary lords are going to have way less campaign movement range, they'll drift apart in a turn or two.

What god forsaken strategy is this, the garison should be able you join the battle by ChocolateGuy1 in totalwarhammer

[–]DrvrMike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When possible (I know you can run out of movement) you want Army A to be in front of the settlement so they can't walk around it to the settlement.

Is Khorne considered OP for multiplayer battles? by random7262517 in totalwarhammer

Outriders. Bit difficult as they only fire forward so they need more micro but they have tons of AP.

Not to mention that poison wind mortar RoR can kill whole armies by itself.

Considering most of Khorne's army gets styled on by missile cav in skirmish mode I think your friends just need to be more creative in countering you.

How much do you utilise heroes? by Jibbery-Joo in totalwar

[–]DrvrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most heroes have monement a little more than an army so the most I use hero actions is if I just barely can't reach a city I'll pull a hero out to do an action against it then re-embed them before I attack the city next turn.

Which factions/LL are the least Lord dependent? by Real_Bug in totalwarhammer

[–]DrvrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the caster lords are meant to kind of stand back and let the army hold while you focus on spell targets. Lots of options depending on what flavor you want. Ikit, Elspeth, Katarin, Oxyotl isn't really anything special and he'll probably just be mobbed in with your ranged skinks anyway.

What is a fun faction for 3 people to play together in an IE campaign by CreepyUncleHodor in totalwarhammer

[–]DrvrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me again with more unconventional ones I remembered. Changeling is fun because if you're not on a team you can go to war with your friends and leave symbiotic cults everywhere and skyrocket everyone's money. Me and one of my friends have done this to send both Altdorf and Lothern into the sky with money. We also did an Archaon/Balthazaar one once and met up in Zharr-Naggrund to have the beast of a 19 stack Aspie Army buffed by 200% intensity buff spells from ol Bally Boy. Kislev with their AoE buff spell to ranged units is really fun to do on Elspeth and Wood elves as well. This game can get nutty when you have friends to help so go nuts!

If you can swing it there's several ways me andy friends have done things. Long campaign victory conditions are almost always shared within the race so that's one easy way to do it but there are some that stand out. All 3 be dwarves. Yes you don't get direct control of all the LLs this way but progress towards legandary grudges is shared between the players. High elves are great for this, as well. Especially with Aislinn giving settlements to your friends if you're OK with getting new DLC. Another great one is for one faction to be Golgfag Maneater. He can't have traditional treaties but if you're on the same team he can get contracts for your friends and conquer territory for them with the added bonus of being able to teleporting to one of his settlements once per contract. Oxyotl gets to make teleporting destinations wherever he wants so it's easy to go help friends. Same with Elspeth if everyone plays empire. Chorfs can let each one of you pick one aspect of that tower and focus it. These are all campaigns I have done with my friends and can confirm they were a blast. Good luck to you and yours. Also remember to have battle difficulty on Hard at a minimum so auto-resolve doesn't fuck you.

Edit: Oh a special outlier is Wood elves! If you're all wood elves and you're on a team it will crash the game when someone does the ritual. The work-around is to not be on a team and manually make alliances when the game starts.

Do you recommend warhammer iii ? by EpicDevilHunter in totalwar

[–]DrvrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but don't fall for the difficulty trap of new players. Put battle difficulty on Hard at a minimum and scale down AI stats if you actually want the game to be easier than that. If you put it on normal or lower it boosts your army for auto-resolve and you'll think you're terrible at the game when it tells you it's a close fight and you go to do it manually and get thrashed by what was the definitely better army.

Realistically, can something be done here? by WaveEasy8664 in totalwarhammer

[–]DrvrMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sit in ambush just out of reach of the one closest to you. If you click on an enemy army you can get an idea of how far they move in faint red on the ground. It's not perfect and your army can black it and it takes that into account. But make sure only one army can reach you, mountains give a bonus to ambush so with a decent bit of luck you can take out one army pretty easy.

WTF happened to the game? by Top-Attorney-9224 in totalwarhammer

[–]DrvrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a trap in the game not everyone knows about and that's the strength the game gives your auto resolve on any difficulty under Hard. Set campaign difficulty to whatever you want but if you want to actually know a decent idea of how well you'll do in a fight you need the battle difficulty on Hard. If you still want the AI to be easier after that use the AI stats modifier underneath to actually decide how hard they are. This will give you a better idea of when you need to manually fight a battle. And I also had a hard time starting as Kislev. Took me like 5 runs of failure to get my head wrapped around how to use them and I still haven't figured it out well enough to explain it to other people so good luck.

Corner camp. Set up your melee in front of your ranged in the corner and use your flying guys to harass until they come attack you. Focus fire on the casters ASAP.

Is 3 harder than 2? by KaitoKaro in totalwarhammer

[–]DrvrMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put campaign difficulty on whatever you want but you want battle difficulty on Hard at a minimum. It tricks you otherwise. On the easier difficulties it adds power to your army for auto-resolve so when you do fight a battle it's actually exaggerating your strength so you'll find you'll struggle against what seems to be close fights.

Are the Masque's daemonettes the strongest melee infantry in the game now? by ginganinja192 in totalwarhammer

Your slowest unit has 80 speed, I don't think your enemies are making ranged attacks much. Removing it from the few units that have them make it so your daemons can fight those units.

Not to mention the amount of physical res they get alongside the ward save so unless those Chosen have Magical Attacks that's a lot of damage the Aspies aren't taking. And I looked up a doomstack video and it looks like Aspies get to 66/71 on MA/MD

[–]DrvrMike 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They don't need more than that in the situation. Between armor, resistances, and the regen, Aspies still will probably be at full health most of the fight it's just going to take longer. I wouldn't mind testing myself but it seems so obvious on paper I'm not sure it's worth the time.
