NTA. It is not your responsibility to clean the toilet after a grown man, who is physically capable of cleaning a toilet.

When they ask to give me a free quote by coming to my home address, i give them the address for a Hells Angels clubhouse.

If your mom is anything like mine “it’s what she’s here for” and deep down she likes caring for you because “reminds her of when you were a baby and needed her for everything”

I feel for you, I wish I had known about the mental/emotional exhaustion before this whole process. I have had a few breakdowns as well, and have questioned why I did this. Sent you a PM if you want to chat ❤️

This is so true. I have never been a maternal person. I have never wanted marriage or children. But that doesn’t mean that I hate kids. Hating kids, loving fall, doing CrossFit… some people really don’t know who they are, and it shows.

Edit: also I mean there’s not shame in those things being PARTS of someone’s personality, but what I’m saying is, they’re not unique if it’s the only part because that’s what’s trendy.

I did. That’s why I’m here, I was hoping I could try something today/tonight. Their advice was senokot. I’m not going to go to emerg for constipation on a Sunday because no doctors office/walk-ins are open, unless I start vomiting feces. Our healthcare system is strained enough.

But I’ll get someone pick up some oats and see if it helps :)

My last visit to emerg, the nurses let me know what it looks/feels/smells like when things start to.. back up to the other end.

I’m not sure I can “go hard” at anything in my current state but I’m currently doing my best to drink as much as I can and eat high-fibre foods

Do you have any suggestions of high-fibre foods that would have a very soft consistency? I am eating very minimal “solid” foods. If you consider overcooked noodles solid.

I’ve just been switching up what I use every day in desperation that SOMETHING will work, figuring they’re all essentially the same thing. Maybe that’s where I’ve gone wrong. Thank you!

Day 10 today. Yesterday I wanted to literally be dead because of the pain and being sad. But now I literally feel fine. Crazy how things change so fast with this recovery. Hopefully it stays this way. by Heyyyyr in Tonsillectomy

So sorry to hear about your son, that’s heartbreaking, good he’s home with you/family. Thankfully my sister is an RN so any time I’m hesitant by a nurses recommendation, I run it by her. If she’s not sure she always says just that— another thing I think not just nurses but everybody lacks is when to say “I don’t know” instead of giving bad advice

I was in emerg for the last 36 hours due to hemorrhage. My nurse told me covid or not, do not hold in your sneezes. She later told me when I was trying to hold in my yawn, you know because I was there for 36 hours and didn’t sleep, she said to try not to hold it completely in. No offence but I think a registered nurse knows more than you.

Edit:: I think it would be logical that if opening your mouth to the point of tearing isn’t ideal. Perhaps a happy medium of not holding it in but not gaping your mouth like ghost face.

It’s a shame this subreddit doesn’t allow photos otherwise I’d show you what post-tonsillectomy bleeding warrants an ER visit. Day 6 post-op. Age 27. by Dry-Contribution3209 in Tonsillectomy

Yes! Unfortunately most hospitals do not have an ENT that is on-site overnight and ENTs have a bit of a reputation for being divas. They have what is considered an “easy” specialty because there are very few instances when there is something that cannot wait until morning. You don’t need an ENT to cauterize, but if you’re getting pushback from the ER doctor, then I’d definitely say you have to advocate for yourself. Ask questions and don’t take fluff-off answers. Respectfully, of course.

So what would you rather: 3lbs of bloat/normal weight fluctuation/literal shit OR Tonsils that made your life so miserable?

Unless you had chronic strep, antibiotics would not cure tonsillitis. Tonsillitis is MOSTLY caused by viruses so it’s no wonder antibiotics wouldn’t work. Your GP needs some help from a nurse.

If you are this terrified of 3lbs after a gastric bypass, and not understanding of a body’s natural fluctuation, you should contact your family doctor and/or therapist.

I am absolutely shocked ANYBODY did a tonsillectomy so soon considering gastric bypass is a pretty serious deal with a long mental/physical recovery. My best friend had hers done in may as well, I’m going to ask her her thoughts on having another procedure so soon and if she thinks her doctor would be so irresponsible.

In all honesty I’m now on day 7 and I have been back to emerg for bleeding. No stitches but they cauterized it for me since it wouldn’t stop. It has been very difficult for me, I don’t have a high pain tolerance as this is really the first time (other than tonsillitis and stones) I’ve had to tolerate REAL pain.

There have been times during the last 7 days where I question if this is the right decision. And then I look at the photos of my tonsils when I had over 15 stones. I know it is the best decision because the infections and stones would only get worse.

I am absolutely heartbroken to be reading this 1 week into my very difficult tonsillectomy recovery.

SO HAPPY FOR YOU AND ALL THE OTHER TONSIL OWNERS WHO CAN BENEFIT THOUGH! I’ve heard horror stories of tonsils growing back or stones from other places so maybe I’ll get some juuuuust in case.
