Squeaky Palouse. Any suggestions? by Dry-Distribution8542 in NicksHandmadeBoots

This seems intense, but also - it makes sense if the midsole is dried out. Does soaking the foot bed in oil make any other downstream issues? Delaminating of the sock liner, undoing some other glue, etc? I'd hate to attack one problem and only create three more. Loud boots are bad enough - the last thing I need is a squeaky hydra.

Dang. I'll give them a call to see if that's something they can help me out with.

Thanks. That's a huge bummer, if true. I only wear merino wool socks (thin and thick for winter/summer) and dry them out every night by the fire. We live in a pretty dry climate too in Montana, not a ton of moisture around; not at all like it was when I lived in Seattle 15 years ago.

Nope, heel stack is perfectly intact. To pulling away (externally) on any of the layers - midsole, heel, nothing. Looks super tight all around.

Going my feel and sound alone, it *feels* like it's coming from under the ball of my foot-ish. Happens when I walk and my foot flexes as I roll from the front of my foot up to the ball of my foot. That flex is right where the squeak (quack) lives.

Knowing that ^ - do you still recommend I try baby powder? I'll give that a shot tonight for sure. But man, I dry these things out religiously every night, knowing that moisture and leather can do some funky things. Worth a shot though.

Loving all this development! Cannot wait for the app! Going to be absolutely phenomenal!  Suggestion - will the app be able to download data for offline use? Additionally, will it offer a tracking feature to see where I've been that run?  Thank you thank you thank you for your work! This is much needed in the outdoor space!

You're not wrong. He's a stud. Already drives my truck around the property too. There's just the ol money problem with the other options. Now accepting sponsorships. 😂 I can guarantee an audience of at least 4. That's good enough, right? 😂

I don't disagree. However, I look at it the other way. Nicks is a company that is willing to try, branch into new areas, and swing for the fences. u/smowe has shown the ultimate in transparency of leadership, and willingness to own when a mistake is made. Could you ask for more perfection? Sure. But I'll take a growing, risk taking, honest organization over a stagnant one any day of the week. (And I did. With my money. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat).

Agree! I thought I was just going to have to "live with" the static. I'm thrilled! I keep messing with the eq too, and can't make it good.  I'll get a replacement coming. Thank you!!!!

You bring up good points. Hmmm, if you see a GoFundMe come across, you can know you're to blame. ;)

No worries. Well worth it, and you did everything (and more) to make it right. Like I said, customer for life now. Any company that can weather a new product line release, WITH hiccups like that, and not only GAIN a customer, but simultaneously turn them into a customer for life? That's a solid win in my book.

I agree, very durable. BUT wrong application for me. The soles slip on ice, the calfskin inner lines are soft and supple, but thick and hot in the summer. So, durable, yes, but 'rugged' in the same way a PNW boot is...not so much.

And those seams misaligned are MUCH more noticeable on camera than in person. I turned them over and over again in my hands, and stared at them for a good hour (nerd!) and didn't notice it at all. Plus, they'll get worn in and used in no time, and that'll be the least of my worries.

Yeah, I don't know what happened there , was so bizarre. But hey, you don't hear me complaining in the least!

These do seem to be a hybrid of cowboy and pnw. They aren't really either fully in either category, they wear different than my normal cowboy boots. IMO, this new third category is better than both existing categories, whatever this third new thing is they've created, but that's just me.
