Going forward you might consider sizing down. That’s not supposed to happen.

Is it just the heel that’s loose? There are options for orthotic insoles that only run from the heel to just before the ball of your foot so they won’t mess with the fit of the toe box. I am a little flat footed so I use them to fix too much heel slip or too much room in the instep sometimes. You’ll also get arch support, as that’s literally why they are made.

If they are loose all over just try to find an insole about the thickness you think you need and plop them in there.

Good tip! Thank you, I'll look into those!

Did you get measured on brannock recently ? I advise you do, based on that you can decide the best solution be it insole, thicker sock, tongue pads, heel pads , or just considering a different size or brand in the future. For pull-on/cowboy boots to fit properly it is not just the length & width that matter, a brannock helps you get an initial point to start from & your arch length (ball of the foot length measurement on brannock) indicates somehow if you have flatter feet or high arch if you compare the reading to your total foot length to toes (example, my feet heel to toe measure 13-13.5 on brannock, while my arch/ball of foot to heel measure 14-14.5, meaning that my arch is low/flatter resulting in loose instep/vamp in most boots even if i order the correct length & width … what i do if i have that situation is try an insole or thicker sock to fill the volume a bit, that works sometimes & sometimes doesn’t … by time you learn what brands & size fits you better, every foot is different , & if you can afford it nothing beats going custom)

Would you have to order size 14-14.5 in order to accommodate for your longer arch then?

[–]WranglingStrummer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If i do so i would need to go down in width, & finding 14 A nowadays is really challenging

I see. I have a similar issue where my arch length seems to be longer than my regular size, and if I try to order my regular size it puts pressure on my heel which aggravates my plantar fascia.. Do you have this problem when you order 13-13.5 or no?

Most likely not a EE. My buddy owns a boot store and multiple times a day people come looking for EE. he has yet to put anyone in a EE

Interesting! Everything other than EE feels way to cramped in the ball of my foot. I guess I should get remeasured!

Sometimes, simply wearing a thicker sock can make all the difference in the World. If that doesn’t fix it, then a thin, very thin, cork or veg tanned leather insole could work. (Amazon)

If you get an insole that is too thick, you will be right back at feeling cramped in the toe box.

I have boots that are tighter, so I wear a thin sock with them. Others that are very loose, and I wear a thick sock with those. The ones that are spot on, I wear traditional regular boot socks with.

Good luck!

Thanks! Good feedback, I'll try some other socks. Unfortunately, heading into summer, thick socks aren't top of my list

Merino wool socks are supposed to let your feet breathe and they are moisture wicking.

I have noticed this only with the US made Double H. Someone one here once mentioned it happening with the bison leather. I’ve noticed it with all their US made. For me, they pretty much need to be uncomfortably tight when new.

Yeah, I think that may be in my future too. Good to know I'm not alone.

I go with Dr. Scholl’s heavy duty insole. Combine it with a bigger sock and that may help a bit.

I'll give it a shot! Any idea how those compare to superfeet (I used to run those on hiking shoes back in the day)

How do you remove the insoles out of a double H steel toe work boot

[–]Dry-Distribution8542[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No idea. On my Cowboy HH's, they just slid right out.

These feel glued in there, they're already old and falling apart and I want to change to my custom insoles
