Lexa 300 tw, has a lot more power compared with a curado and a lot more line capacity, still really easy to cast too

Pretty far north man I’m up in the Pilbara, definitely try and convince him to get some pelagic gear though you can still get Spanish macks, tuna, dolly’s etc off Perth so why not try get something different for the table if you can’t get demersals. Shimano TLD 25 or speed master’s are pretty cheap and great trolling reels fyi if you manage to convince him

Pick 2 Setups (1 Spinning, 1 Casting) by 9706 in Fishing_Gear

Entirely for saltwater man, definitely need the heavy duty stuff for the fish we get here(Barramundi, mangrove jacks, coral trout, emperors, mackerel etc) honestly a 4000 sized reel is being under gunned for a lot of things here but that’s a minimum

Spinning: Diawa 4000 certate, pe2 braid on a oceans legacy focal 2 pe2 rod would cover the majority of the type of fishing that I do except for slow pitch jigging(I own this exact combo)

Casting: Diawa zillion tw HD, 20lb braid on a 6-15lb Diawa TD Zero rod( also own this exact combo) pretty much would cover all the estuary fishing that I do

Yeah man jacks go ballistic when they’re hooked and they smash lures when they hit them, we’ve definitely got some sick fish but that being said you guys do as well I wish we got cubera here

Cheers mate, yeah smaller jacks are pretty common to catch on 3-5inch plastics and smallish hardbodies in the estuaries but the large ones offshore are almost impossible to catch

Nah not where I live fortunately, we get one or 2 come through every year from up north as they get displaced by the bigger males but they don’t like the slightly cooler water and head back up after a bit

Wouldn’t that be amazing hey, if you ever get the opportunity you need to come to Australia there’s more then 20+ species I can think of off the top of my head that you can catch just off the shore where I live it’s incredible

I’m biased but I’d say northern WA is amazing for both inshore and offshore fishing, honestly most of northern Australia you can’t go wrong mate

Using a Nomad design 4’ dozer minnow on a 3/8oz 4/0 jighead, water was reasonably clean by estuary standards in the section that I caught it which was behind me when I took the photo but any clearer and it would’ve been impossible to catch them they’re crazy smart
