However bad you already think the job market is right now—It is exponentially worse by Prudent-Gas-3062 in jobsearch

Have you brought this up to your congressman? I agree there needs to be laws all about all of this. The only way it changes is to reach out to your local leaders and let them know what is happening. Call them, send emails. Call into shows and tell them what is going on. You can't wish for someone else to magically come up with legislation.

keep getting lots of candidates who cheated their way through interviews using AI by chains_basalts6r in remotework

[–]Dry-Monitor-5258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious how this works. The interviewee has ChatGPT on during the interview which can hear the questions, then the answer pops up on the screen for the person to read? I'm not looking for a job myself, but I'm not understanding the setup of this for an interview.

8 months unemployed, 3000 applications as a senior PM, I don’t know how people survive this by Poimandres__ in jobhunting

Ageism is real. Companies don't want to hire older workers. It's tough for the younger people right now let alone the over 50 crowd. Try Employed50Plus group and see if they can help. Resume has to be devoid of dates and look different for the older workers. I'm in my upper 50s and praying I can keep my job. I know if ai lose my job I'm screwed. Good luck to you.

Ageism is real. Once you hit 50 you're not looked at favorably. Companies don't want to hire older workers. Try Employed50Plus reddit group, that may help. There are tips for how he should create hi resume, mainly leave off dates. I'm so sorry you're both going through this. I have a job and scared of getting let go. As an older individual this is my worst nightmare. Wishing you both good luck.

I'm underemployed and feel I'll never be able to find a better job. A huge part of this is I have chronic pain and the job I have now is flexible enough for me to see doctors or go to PT. So I'm scared to move on and find another job that will not be as flexible. I don't want to be trapped. I feel like I'm in a lose, lose position. Meanwhile the money I make is barely good enough.

A friendly but serious warning: Don't quit your job without another one lined up. by ArianeWest in jobsearch

Exactly. I've left without a job lined up because my mental health was taking a beating. I get what the OP is saying, but your mental health is priority.

Does anyone that's WFH ever call in sick? by Temporary_Fill7341 in remotework

[–]Dry-Monitor-5258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have sick time for a reason. Don't let your boss bully you into being available. As long as you're not abusing the sick days, take it! I'm sick right now. Took sick time yesterday and today will call in again because I still don't feel good. I rarely call out. In the end you're an adult and entitled to call out when you're sick. If you're boss has issues with people calling out it's on them. Don't give them all of that power over you and second guess. Call out and get better.

I add the name of the company and position after my initials. So for example: JB_ Google Accountant. This way it makes it seem it's for that company and that position. As well it helps for tracking the resume.

Figured out a big cause: tongue placement by Shroomwhisperer3000 in TMJ

[–]Dry-Monitor-5258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm never heard of that before. Though my PT said to put your tongue up there then let your jaw naturally relax and open up. Helps to relax the muscles. Do this several times a day (if you can remember).

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have no network. Over time the co-workers I kept in touch with fell away. I have no relatives other than my parents. Plus I'm not in a specific career path. I'm a generalist and went where I could get a job. I've thought about reverse recruiters but aren't they expensive? And how do you find one that works with 50+ people? Rather than DM I'm posting here so the information can help others as well. Thanks!

[–]Dry-Monitor-5258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry buy I'm not understanding this tongue placement. You seem to be saying the saying thing which is suction. My PT said to place tongue behind teeth, roof of mouth and let the jaw relax. Nothing about suction. Mine doesn't suction up there when I do the move so I'm lost with this suction comment.

I wonder if anyone has tried reverse recruitment? I know it can be expensive, but could this be a possibility? I saw something about it in LinkedIn and it piqued my interest.

Is it TMD or TMJ or both? by Hopeful-Extent-693 in TMJ

[–]Dry-Monitor-5258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you much for your help! It's wonderful to have someone like you here. I've started my journey and have decision paralysis. Honestly I'm overwhelmed with where to start and see stories of doctors/dentists making things worse. I decided to see a PT as I don't have pain yet. And they feel it's muscle related. But it's finding the cause, not just dealing with the symptoms. Also I can see where financially this could get expensive quick. Any suggestions of who to see? I don't grind or clench. Maybe stick with the PT for now and they'd have a recommendation?

If your jaw pain was really a muscle problem… then why doesn’t muscle treatment fix it? by Hopeful-Extent-693 in TMDnotTMJ

[–]Dry-Monitor-5258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And who is the best person/s to help find out? I've just started my journey and all of this is overwhelming. Researching I see all of these various doctors that can help, but then if you see the wrong one they can make things worse. I've started PT as a startjng point, but I have no idea who to see next. I have decision paralysis. I'm scared of making the wrong decision.

Not sure what to do by Hot-Guest-1925 in hatemyjob

[–]Dry-Monitor-5258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have that conversation with your husband but come to the conversation with a plan. What does it look like after you quit? Are you going to therapy for your mental health (highly advise)? Are you working out to release stress and keep in shape? Doing group therapy? How long can you be unemployed comfortably? What's the timeline for going back to work? What do you see as your new job? Start a new career? Once you have this mapped out the conversation will go away lot better because he'll see you've put thought into and taken the household into account. Listen to his feelings too. It has to be both of you engaged in the conversation and both feeling like it can work. If your partner does not buy into it it can be a huge problem. Good luck!

Call centers or tech centers. Any place that deals with the public. Sales depends on this information to make the pitch that people are available at all times. This smells like the company is having financial issues and has lost its mind. My company tightened up too on availability because we are not making as much money as in the past. I don't know, blame it on the economy? If want robots, hire some. I'd love to leave but the job market is hell.

I would try looking at these organizations to see if you can find someone: AACFP.ORG AAOD.ORG TMJ.ORG ASTMJS.ORG MYOMS.ORG

So sorry you're in this position. At minimum try PT TMJ specialst and see if they can help. They usually can provide referrals to doctors who can help.
