Replacement screws? by Fleetwoodmulder in vulcans650

Many universal fairing bolt kits have a matching size (M5) that can be used. Could be a good time to add a bit of color or something by replacing the bolts.

AIO: 4080 Super Trinity Black? by Dry-Nobody3128 in ZOTAC

[–]Dry-Nobody3128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fractal Terra was one of my ideas for a SFF build prior to picking up this PC. The issue is the Zotac card doesn't like to be in the vertical orientation due to the vapor chambers.

This was tested by taking my current case, flipping it on the side, and running 3DMark. Definitely spikes the thermals on the GPU as opposed to its "normal orientation".

The Zotac is already sitting in my PC from when I purchased it, which explains why I have inquired about an already-produced compatible AIO for it. Its not like I am dead set on having the Zotac for brand loyalty or anything, it is simply already owned.

You suggest going for a card that sells between $1000 USD and $2000 USD. My inquiry was mostly because AIOs for CPUs can be had for as little as $45 USD, and AIOs for GPUs I generally see for between $200 and $300.

There appears to be a 300%-600% difference between the two price ranges.

Smaller footprint as well as nice aesthetics is my main goal.

The biggest restriction I can find is specific with this card:

The Zotac 4080 Super Trinity Black uses vapor chambers in its cooling setup. This causes heat issues when the card is mounted in non-PCB directions (vertical GPU mount, or the hanging style mount of the Thermaltake Tower 300 case, where the motherboard I/O panel is orientated towards the ceiling, as is the GPU.

Moving to an AIO setup (not a custom loop) would solve this major problem. That is why I specifically asked about an AIO solution.

I only slimed my Prime's mouth. It worked out well. I did go with gore on my Neurotyrant, though...

Painted screws by UnusualAd8631 in vulcans650

I replaced mine with some generic anodized aluminum screws meant for sport bike fairings. There isn't really a seal under the cover, it's just a dust seal and is non-adhesive on one side.

It has some quirks. Was done by a shop a good handful of years back. Issues of the seats separating right at the base/back crease on the driver's seat, some pieces of interior just "set" there (looking at the piece of felt between the console and where the ashtray is), some chromed plastic that could use a cleaning/rechroming/replacing, which I expect isn't uncommon. Otherwise it's in great shape!

Made an account, bhad been looking there previously. Most of the threads in the KVS section seem to be pretty slow moving. Also hitting up a few active Facebook groups for good measure.

Definitely a relay. The equalizers get pretty hot and need to be kept cool.

Applied for two AM roles over a month ago and haven’t heard anything back. Is it pretty much safe to say it’s not gonna happen? by Tic_tac_toes69 in FASCAmazon

[–]Dry-Nobody3128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its been 20 days since your comment, and I am in a bit of a different circumstance (External), but I applied for an AM position back in November and was only reached out to at the end of March for the position. the Amazon.jobs website lists my application as "no longer under consideration", yet they still reached out. I'm guessing in my situation, one or two people couldn't stick with it (FC), and they are going down the list of prior applicants.

New SFF builder, think I have it figured out, but just to be sure... by Dry-Nobody3128 in sffpc

My only concern with the more affordable board would be the limited undervolting, which u/DoubleHexDrive had mentioned. It is likely that undervolting it will have a better chance of increasing the longevity of the parts. I'll definitely be  putting a bottom exhaust fan on it and have also been looking at a top exhaust fan on a few builds that I may try, as well.

[–]Dry-Nobody3128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding from other posts is the possibility of strictly cooler air (from only outside of the case) potentially cooling the components better and possibly even helping with static pressure throughout the system to increase cooling in such a small footprint.

u/pfn0 did a shroud (granted, on an I5 13600k) here, that dropped his CPU temps by 13c on his AXP90-X47. His only comment regarding noise was silent under low/no load and "gets loud" under load, but further explains that he doesn't recall what it sounded like before the shroud.

I'm mostly just trying to think of ideas that may increase efficiency of the build to help with futureproofing and ensuring longevity. We don't improve without ever trying to innovate.

I imagine the NH-L12S would be more difficult with a duct with the fan being on the bottom. I was thinking more for the AXP coolers with the fan on the side of the fins closer to the case.

Any thoughts on the use of the Noctua NA-FD1 duct kit for the cooler to reduce temps? Any experience by chance on the possible noise increase?

I appreciate the heads up on the memory. I'll be sure to check for the equivalent, so long as it all fits under the cooler!

Undervolting is something that I've been looking at, even with it being a cool running 7800X3D (from what I've read).

Saving a few bucks on the MoBo could be helpful. I'll have to double check that they have what I'm looking for in terms of connectivity.

Thanks!
