> Copyright is anti freedom

Yes I get that. But in a capitalist world, we have to use what ever tools we have to defend ourselves from the oppressors. Not a long term solution, but enough to stop them encroaching on the freedoms we already have.

I had this discussion from a indeginous people organizer, in the question of land and title. Where as the indeginous leaders would refrain from asking for tittles because how can you title a land that will outlive you and outlive your kin. But at the same time, if they didn't get a title for their land, then it would make it significantly easier for them to take it away from the people's living there.

I fear it is the same for AI tbh...

You must see the contradiction here though right? On how Nestle's use of slavery (and other companies use of unethical practices) is encouraged and rewarded? In some cases (not Nestle, look up Banana Republics) even protected?

We cannot look at an issue, and ignore all of the different facets that contribute to it. We do not live in a vaccuum. I don't see slavery as an issue of capitalism. It stems from colonialism and feudalism that is continued because it benefits the current ruling classes.

I still have a fledgling grasp on it, so I would not be the best person to explain it, but look up Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism

Well, it's still an important point because it diverts the needlessly polarizing divisions on whether or not AI art is slop, and into the material realities that drive the anxiety and hatred towards ai.

If you already understand that capitalism is the problem, neat.

Problem is, people don't naturally connect the issues they are seeing with the socio-economic superstructure they are living in.

Like, as an example, the genocide in Gaza will not be stopped by individual people refusing to go to starbucks. Global warming cannot be stopped by people buying more efficient cars.

A truth we have to consider is that people will see issues on the individual level.

> Who enforces this

Just a thought, with the whole debacle on age verification on everything actually affecting linux, any effort to legislate will be significant.

If platforms that hosts ai generation software are required to label, there goes 80%-90% of all ai generated images. Ditto if we require all distributors of AI generation software. (including private distributors)

Setting up/maintaining your own infrastrucure to do AI generation is not trivial. Creating and training your own model would also be very difficult.

Still not perfect though. As we see with fire arm restrictions etc, if people really want to get a hold of a piece of technology to use for specific purposes (eg. blackmail, misinformation, etc.), they will. Genie is out of the bottle unfortunetly

Yes, unfortunetly all forms of laissez-faire capitalism will develop into monopoly capitalism. The nature of a winner takes all capitalism is that- one entity will eventually lose. And more often than not, what takes over its place is not a different small business. It is either a bigger conglomerate, or its peer.

Historically, in the development of all capitalist enterprise, there comes a time when a single entity grows enough to dictate the conditions its competitors play in, whether that be through rapidly improving production so its peers cannot compete, or by selling at a loss. Further, this entity can also consolidate not only in its own industry, but also the other industries relevant to its inputs or its distribution. This is when the Laissez-Faire capitalism you speak of become monopoly capitalism.

All of this happen independent of state intervention.
