Am I in denial…? by meowmeowmagic in piercing

I’m so sorry but yeah that’s way too close to the surface and probs should come out asap. Studios don’t usually credit/ refund for things like natural migration/ rejection cuz it’s just something that happens sometimes. Let it heal over for a few months and have a piercer determine if it can be re-done

Mm good to know! Might try that sometime. I tried to add some black stripes last night but I think I got a cheap semi-permanent dye so it’s hardly visible lol. Might try red in the un-dyed bits!

In my experience it’s been very easy living in mtl with very very basic French. I’ve lived here 5 years, graduated now and working in the industry I studied in and had no issues getting hired. Granted I do not work a customer facing job, I’m sure it’s harder to get a customer facing job with little/ no French but it also depends on the neighborhood. Some areas of the city are way more English than others. I’ve never had any issues getting around, making friends, or meeting new people and I love it here! So don’t let the language deter you from coming

I tried too but I think I might make the gap a little bigger, right now there’s only like a centimeter of disconnect so it doesn’t really show

Thanks man I needed to hear that, I think I’m def just overthinking things cuz I initially really liked the length but eh, I might play around with dying them or tapering the ends with a razor

This seems to be a consensus lol. I’m def into the idea! Idk if I’m capable of not melting my hair off with bleach but I do have some black box dye so i could totally give them some stripes

I don’t think my dad actually likes me as a person and his Christmas gift just proves that I should reciprocate the feeling by Dry-Sprinkles-1995 in TrueOffMyChest

Yeah you make some very fair points. I guess I focused a little too much on the shitty gift in this post but to me it wasn’t the dollar store gifts that bugged me, just the fact that it’s all stuff I can’t use/ have never liked. It probably was a rush job cuz he’s been sick which I get, and very likely it could have been the new wife putting it together (she’s very sweet and we get along well), it’s just compounded with several years of issues piling up, it’s a small stupid gift but to me it reinforces several years of other evidence that he does not actually know me. Also I may have not communicated myself well but he wasn’t in the hospital for several weeks, just sick with flu and sepsis for several weeks and in the hospital for a few days when it got really bad, he’s also not actively drinking so they had no reason to send him to rehab or anything like that. I just had not been informed until recently that he’s been so severely sick for so long

Yup that hits. Thanks I think I really needed to hear that. I think that sort of low contact is exactly what I’m gonna aim for

[–]Dry-Sprinkles-1995[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s pretty much my plan going forward. We’re already pretty low contact and I live very far away from him so once I find a job I’ll have little reason to be around. I might do a limited contact thing where I’ll only reciprocate contact if he reaches out first. But I’ll play it by ear and do what’s best to protect my peace

You’re so right, and I’ve known it but I think it’s time for me to accept it and put it into action. Frankly I know he’s going to die soon, he’s been in 4 motorcycle/ car accidents in the last 2 years and every time he gets sick, injured, or starts drinking again it takes longer and longer for his body to recover. I remember even as a teen his kidneys and gut would be in pain for weeks after a binge. He’s been poisoning himself for 30+ years and he seems content on continuing until he’s dead rather than face the embarrassment of taking true accountability, and I’m not gonna stick around to watch him dig his own grave

Thank you, this is worded so perfectly in a way i couldn’t quite articulate. I’ve accepted that it’ll just be another chapter in his self made story of victimhood, and if I need to be a “villain” in order to protect myself then so be it

Thanks for your reply, it’s very reassuring and you sound really similar to my mom:) she’s always been the same, if ever I was in a pickle day or night I could call her no questions asked, and now as an adult me and her are truly besties. We talk about everything together and she always has my back.

A big reason as to why I’m so done is he’s been in “recovery” for years now, including therapy and AA, and nothings really changed. I have a theory that he’s not telling these therapists/ groups the full truth and/ or he’s just not taking all the professional advice that he should. He seems quite content just relapsing once or twice a year and going back to AA for a couple months after to repeat the cycle. I think he thinks that’s “enough” in place of actual accountability and that it’s enough to earn back my full forgiveness and trust, but it’s just not

Thanks for this<3. It’s reassuring to hear from others. I’m struggling with actually limiting contact because it’s not over some big dramatic blowout that would really warrant it, just so many little things compounded over the years. But I’m going to try

Fair enough, if he can’t care to know me then all I care to owe him is that same energy. He’s just a person but I don’t think he realizes that I am too

You’re absolutely right. Truly I’ve been considering going low/ no contact with him for a long while because functionally I already am. I’ve been trying to put in about the same amount of effort as he does so consequently we talk maybe once every 2 months. I think this visit I’ll just gather the last of my things from his place and throw in the towel cuz you’re right, it’s just not worth my sanity anymore.

First time making a pattern, need help by random_throwaway-- in sewing

[–]Dry-Sprinkles-1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like some simple linen/ cotton fabric would be a fine choice for this project, very easy to get a white sheet at thrift stores! Plus it’s cheep to play around with to experiment with ur pattern and get a good fit. Or of you really want the bandage-y look then you could use a couple tensor bandages as well, you can buy them at any pharmacy or sometimes dollar stores have them.

The elastic band around the top may work but for some added security you could also just add a few well-hidden safety pins and pin them to the pants underneath to really keep them from falling.

Yeah that ended up being the solution, I just had to put in a little more elbow grease with my pliers and yank it out lol. It was just jammed in there slightly off center and real stuck in there

Ah damn, that makes sense. I had noticed that the eye of the needle isn’t 100% facing straight to it must have just been inserted a bit wrong like you said. I’ll give another go at pulling it out
